  1. I was switching channels yesterday and caught around the horn. The topic was the best team in the AL. Of course, Mariotti chose the Angels, the guy from Denver ruffled his ESPN bosses feathers with his proclamation that the White Sox would go all the way. Calishaw, I think his name is, will probably be suspended for saying the White Sox. And Plashke said it was the Angels, and took it to another level saying the Angels are privately saying they want to play the White Sox in the first round, thinking they will destroy them due to lack of playoff experience vs. the playoff tested Angels. Of course he didn't mention most of the Angels had no playoff experience when they won the World Series a few years ago. It used to make me mad, but now I just laugh. When the White Sox win it all watch how many of these guys claimed they saw it all along.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) LOL. That's nuts. In 1993 the Yankee payroll was only $600,000 higher than the Royals who had the highest payroll in the AL West.
  3. Freddy continuing his impression of Cy Young when its not the first inning.
  4. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) I don't think there would be that much at all, because there would be so much apathy because everybody would know we were supposed to suck. People get pissed now because they know we are good and are supposed to win most of the time. Though, maybe not SO nuts. One thing about White Sox fans, even if we are resigned to sucking, we don't accept it.
  5. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) they don't spend. at all. just who did they bring in over the offseason? Terrance Long? they give that "rebuilding" excuse, let me ask you, who better to rebuild with than a 27 year old 5-tool centerfielder? Their payroll was higher in 1993 than it is right now. That's sad.
  6. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) just as depressing as being a cubs fan They're too drunk to be depressed.
  7. How depressing would it be to be a die hard KC Royals fan?
  8. Pods CS. I think that's the 3rd time in a row.
  9. Freddy is huge. He seemed a bit lankier when he first put on a White Sox uniform.
  10. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) probably figured he had no chance. I'd have liked to see him try, though, because Matt Stairs' speed rivals Konerko. Watch after the game at one of those Seniors Run the Bases Days. There are a few that could make Konerko very nervous.
  11. They have to change his pre-game routine. This is getting ridiculous. There shouldn't be a problem every game.
  12. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) KC has been playing better though. They haven't lost a series in the last 5 series. Granted, 3 of those were 4 game splits, but that's alright for KC. They were playing great the last time they played the Sox, and proceded to get swept.
  13. What's the over/under for runs allowed by Freddy in the bottom of the 1st?
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) That ball aj hit was absolutely tatooed, I'm really surprised it didn't get out. He's been right on it for a week. Way to go Joe. What an offensive display.
  15. QUOTE(spiffalicious @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) Where the heck did Hawk and DJ go during Konerko's at bat? Technical difficulties
  16. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:10 PM) To be honest w/ you i wouldn't be surprised if we get SHO by Greinke, especially after our pathetic performance against Miller on saturday. Both guys are very similar, low 90's heaters, big 12-6 curveballs Everett came in 1-16 against him and Pauly 1-15. Pauly has doubled his career hit output after 1 AB. Way to go AJ, Konerko not scoring really hurts. Pick him up JD.
  17. I hope Iguchi's not just sitting to give Willie some time.
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) It broke. I don't really know how much more or less serious it could have been reported.. Not all breaks are the same.
  19. QUOTE(ptatc @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Right. JR is the softy everyone potraits him to be. Scueler was doing the smart baseball decision by trying to get rid of a player who couldn't play anymore. It doesn't matter if the players were pissed. Do you want a better team or do you want to have a player who can't play on the roster? If they chose the worse team, I wouldn't want them here. Which, if you go to my first post, is exactly what I'm saying about Frank. He's been great, but the years are catching up to him. The wise thing to do at this point is give him his payout, thank him for the memories and retire his number. He's not going to be worth the money he's going to want anymore. Last year's ankle injury was far more serious than anyone let on.
  20. QUOTE(ptatc @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) So...the fact that kept him on was the greatest compliment they could pay him. What's the difference where they released him? Why would you make a guy fly to Cleveland just to release him? What would be so difficult just releasing him before he went to Cleveland. I remember his teammates being very pissed off. They kept him on because JR ordered it. It had nothing to do with Schueler.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Umm.. they kept Fisk on the team so he could break the record. And they let him fly to Cleveland and released him.
