  1. I love when Tadihito doesn't have to give himself up. It would be interesting to see what kind of numbers he would put up if he were batting 6th or 7th.
  2. So far, our hitters have a far better approach today.
  3. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) Konerko may not have many HRs this year but god damn he has been clutch! Ah whaaat?
  4. Ramirez must have gone out for a few pops after the game last night.
  5. Occassionaly they flash the temp and wind direction on the WGN feed. The wind is showing 5 mph. I live 5 miles north of USCF and it is blowing at least 25 mph here.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) Hmmmm, a new spin on it. BMac stays, Anderson goes. Honestly, I'd do the trade either way but I would totally prefer giving up Anderson instead of BMac. With Sweeney and Young coming up, we could groom them into the outfielders of our future... Its not the deal, I think he mis heard it.
  7. Per Levine, it doesn't appear the Sox will deal him, and they are hoping he will go down to Charlotte, but they think he'll opt to become a free agent.
  8. I'm not against trading BMac by any stretch of the imagination. But if he doesn't get hurt he will be a very good pitcher in the major leagues. He's just a kid, a real tall skinny kid. He's going to sharpen his repetoire, he'll probably add a couple of MPH on the fastball, he's going to become wiser, he's just learning how to pitch. If Burnett had a history of great results rather than great stuff, I would do this deal in a heartbeat. But he made his debut in 1999 and at his best has performed a little better than average.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) So has Beckett, you wouldn't want Josh Beckett? I sure would and the Marlins would not have won a world series without him. That means nothing to me. By the way he has not been on it this year. Just explain to me how Burnett has been a better pitcher than Contreras this season.
  10. AJ Burnett has been on the DL every season since 2000, per Bruce Levine.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) Uribe would be the most likely guy. Vizquel as your number 2. Move gooch further back in the lineup so he can swing away. I think it gets the front of the lineup even better, and improves an inconsistant back of the lineup. Pods Viz Arow Dye Everett Kong/Gload AJ Crede Gooch Vizquel is not available.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) For those wanting a bat. My question is who gets replaced in the lineup and who do you all want? KW wants another bat. Levine was saying they came in second for Graffinino and for Randa. So he knows more offense is in order. I think with Frank out, it opens up a spot for a guy at any position.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) You are right he is a bad pitcher, all those teams trying to trade for him must not have looked up those stats, I am sold now. Kris Benson was the flavor of the month last season. He was awful.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) And Marte and McCarthy have been what? Marte has been very inconsistent and possibly injured and McCarthy has not shown a damn thing in the majors or minors this year. Yes I take that chance on a power arm who has received very little run support. Especially to make him my 3rd or 4th starter, I say HELL YES! His ERA the las 2 months is over 4.50. That's in the NL. Run support hasn't been the issue.
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) Have you seen what TB has asked for in return for Huff? I guarrantee you they do not do that deal. Cinci maybe, and I would love it, but who knows. Your taking as much a risk on Jr as you are on Burnett in that instance. And yes I give up the so called "top of the line left handed relief pitcher" and if you think he is the top pitcher in our minors fine, but I like some others we have better. No doubt I do that deal. Our time is now, not next year or 5 years from now, but NOW!!!!!!! But you are acquiring a .500 pitcher who even this season has been just as inconsitent as the pitcher he would replace in the rotation. On top of that, it appears it would be a 2 month rental. I don't mind them overpaying, I don't mind them trading BMac, I do mind trying to pass off a guy who has been mediocre his entire career as the guy who is going to take the White Sox to the promised land.
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Wrong on both accounts. There is not one report that states Burnett doesn't want to be here and Contreras would be the man going to the pen. BMac can bring you a middle of the order guy? Who is available and who can he bring us? If Marte is hurt and inconsistent right now then how will he become healthy and consistent later this season? I mean we are going for the World Series THIS year right? So you give up if healthy, a top of the line left handed relief pitcher, and your top pitcher in the minor leagues in return you get a .500 pitcher for 2 months. I guarantee you if you offered BMac straight up for Aubrey Huff, TB jumps at it. I bet if you offered BMac for Griffey, Cincinatti jumps at it. Read Dave Van Dykes article in the Tribune. M
  17. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) Where did you read this? In the Tribune, Dave Van Dyke said part of the requirement was Burnett had to sign an extension. It said a source indicated he would not sign with the White Sox.
  18. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) I'd take this deal, Burnett has playoff/world series experience which is a big plus, we can move Duque into the #5 slot until the playoffs...this deal opens up a ton of opportunity for us at the cost of Marte, and as good as Marte has been, I'm not sure I'm confident in putting a two pitch pitcher in a must win playoff game. Burnett has no playoff experience. He was hurt during the Marlins run in 2003.
  19. Reports indicate Burnett doesn't want to be here. I don't believe he's a significant upgrade over Contreras, also his acquisition would mean El Duque who was signed in part for his playoff prowess, would become a long man in the pen for the playoffs. I wouldn't mind adding Burnett, but BMac could easily bring you a part you more desperately need, that being a middle of the order guy who can get hits with runners on base, and Marte has been inconsistent but hurt. When he's healthy he is cheap and one of the best left hand relief pitchers in the league. Just say no, KW.
  20. If the Sox pick up Lowell, I wouldn't be surprised if Lowell or Crede are shipped elsewhere.
  21. Up until this season, Mike Lowell's offensive stats have been very similar to Eric Chavez's. The one big difference obviously is Chavez is left handed which is something the White Sox lack, a legitimate middle of the order guy who hits left handed.
  22. Is Bruce staking his reputation to this one as well?
  23. I was shocked, but he did pitch great.
