Per Levine, it doesn't appear the Sox will deal him, and they are hoping he will go down to Charlotte, but they think he'll opt to become a free agent.

I'm not against trading BMac by any stretch of the imagination. But if he doesn't get hurt he will be a very good pitcher in the major leagues. He's just a kid, a real tall skinny kid. He's going to sharpen his repetoire, he'll probably add a couple of MPH on the fastball, he's going to become wiser, he's just learning how to pitch. If Burnett had a history of great results rather than great stuff, I would do this deal in a heartbeat. But he made his debut in 1999 and at his best has performed a little better than average.

If the Sox pick up Lowell, I wouldn't be surprised if Lowell or Crede are shipped elsewhere.

Up until this season, Mike Lowell's offensive stats have been very similar to Eric Chavez's. The one big difference obviously is Chavez is left handed which is something the White Sox lack, a legitimate middle of the order guy who hits left handed.

Is Bruce staking his reputation to this one as well?

I was shocked, but he did pitch great.
