It's destiny
QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) Man I missed what looks like it was the game of the season. That was the most exciting game at USCF since Frank took Guardado deep to win the game in 2003. I think the Jose Paniagua era began and ended the next night or the night after that. The ninth inning was as wild as I have ever seen the park. Little old ladies with canes were high fiving everyone. As the Diceman once said,"Its unbelievable."

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) It was about as borderline as they come. It scraped about a sixteenth of an inch of the foul line before bouncing into the corner. Thank you. I thought it may have been foul because Ozzie came out again to talk to the umpire after the inning. It might have been because the umpire was looking for a fight. He was out in the outfield and started walking in yelling into the dugout.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
I was at the game and couldn't tell, was that double by Kent fair?
-
Mike Cameron to the Yanks?
It was a NY Post story. The other teams are Baltimore and SD. The Post is pretty much a ragsheet, but they were the first ones to have Iguchi to the White Sox IIRC.

Forget about Guardado
He's been pretty effective pitching with his current condition. How long does his contract run? If he's a free agent at the end of the year, I don't think KW would hesitate if he could make a deal that made sense.

Tickets
One of the dumber policies the White Sox have has to do with their season ticket exchange program. You can exchange unused tickets for upper deck tickets to some pre-selected games. But the dumb thing about it is you can't exchange them until the game for which the tickets you are going to be exchanging has been played. If two weeks before the game you knew you couldn't make it and wanted to exchange them, they could put those seats back in circulation. Maybe they want you to give them away. I would think that people who get their tickets for free probably tend to spend more on concessions and souveniers.

Buehrle's comments make the Sun-Times...
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) Yep, it's gotta be Carlos 'the crybaby' Zambrano. All he does is lick his fingers and play with his nuts on the hill. I mentioned that to someone once. Zambrano always appears like he's got the crabs.

Does Konerko not like Uribe or something?
It wouldn't be a bad comment if he didn't say "no one is even close." Clayton is and was a good defensive player, but he was a cancer on the White Sox. Throwing around complements like that to players who where addition by subtraction is very odd to me.

Does Konerko not like Uribe or something?
Wasn't Clayton released by the White Sox? Konerko needs to shut his mouth.

Bidding for Sox-Cubs tix
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) My old one was Julie, she was tha s*** The best rep of all time was Brad. He was promoted. I think he does large groups. He would call you every now and then just to see how things were going. Since he left, I think its been 3 seasons now, I have never received a call from my rep despite numerous messages to call me. I never got e-mails. The only thing I would ever receive were the invoices.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Hmm.. I've always been told it's double the season seats. We have 4, so we get 8 to things like opening day, Cubs, playoffs (lol).. I don't know why Friday is more expensive (looking at the tickets right now)... that is very weird. Mine for all 3 games is $28. I bet you have upper reserved for Sat and Sun.

Although I think my form for opening day was for double.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) $32 for Friday, $28 for Sat and Sunday. Were you not offered 8 initially..? We were offered 8 for each day. I was offered the up to the number of tickets in my account which is 2 per game. Why would Friday be more expensive?

Bidding for Sox-Cubs tix
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) FYI.. the tickets are $28.. not $25. The form was wrong. Yes, the form said $25 for UD Box, and I think $21 for UD reserved. I checked off the UD Box which on the bad form was $25, but I think over $30 in reality. I am not pissed at the form being wrong. What makes me mad is this guy charged me more than I authorized for worse seats than I authorized. A simple call would have straightened it all out. When I called back to correct the problem, I was told there were no more available and my only recourse was returning what I had for a full refund. That was what 4 months ago. Now people are buying them 8 at a time.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) I got several notices about buying extra tickets for the series in the mail. If season ticket holders complain about it now, its their own fault, cause I saw the letters. I got my form for extra tickets, and the form they gave me was wrong. It obviously was for Upper Deck seats, and I checked off the upper deck box and sent it in right away. The price looked wrong to me as it was $25. They wound up charging my credit card $28 per ticket, and gave me upper reserved up in the 17th row of 557. Total BS. My rep, (who is quite possibly the worst rep the Sox have ever had) never contacted me. Of course in the 3 years I've had him as my rep, (after having maybe the best rep the Sox ever had) he has never contacted me. I finally called again and he answered the main season ticket line. I knew it was him, but he had no idea I was his customer. He said they sent out the wrong form, and my rep should have contacted me. He asked for my name to find out who my rep was and when he found out he was my rep, the studdering began. He said I could send them back if I wanted, and that the pricing on the form was wrong. I think since I authorized $25 per ticket even though I checked off the Upper Deck Box, he went with the $28 price because that was closer to what I authorized. So I wind up with the crappiest seats in the house. At least they're extras. It really chaps my ass that they have these new lotteries for tickets and let people buy 8, that are far and above better seats than the tickets my dope of a rep got me. I have asked for a new rep 4 times, and have been given the run around each time.

Mike Veeck's take on improving the cell
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) He damn near ran the St. Louis Cardinals out of St. Louis. He took bum franchises and made them respectable. That was a long, long time ago. And to be honest, I am not too familiar with his time in St. Louis. Things and people have changed. When he ran the White Sox in the 70's his team had to win to draw. Tell me how he made the White Sox of the late 70s respectable? They had 1 good season in 1977, not so coincidently the best attendance year. They were brutal in 76,78,79,80. Maybe if he dropped a mural of people over the closed outfield upper deck during many of the games those seasons, he would have drawn more.

Yankees to announce new stadium deal?
QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) I cant believe that the Yankees are paying for all of it There's a loophole in the revenue sharing agreement where the Yankees won't have to pay into that if they are financing a stadium. I'm not sure if its the full amount, but its at least a huge percentage. I guess they figure it would be better to build a new stadium than help fund the competition.

Mike Veeck's take on improving the cell
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Two words: Bill Veeck. Gimmicks work. Not really. Look at the attendance figures when he was the owner.

Brown to return to Illini
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) well as of now he wont make as much money if he waits a year anyways.... This could be the deepest draft in years and he was already probably a 2nd rounder and with the injury will fall ever further... What's the guarantee he'll make more money next year? He was Big Ten player of the year, he played in the championship game, he can go to Europe and make big money if the draft doesn't work out for him. He should turn pro.

Mike Veeck's take on improving the cell
Funny thing is most if not all of the other places in MLB that draw the most don't have any gimmicks to get people in the park. I think Veeck is overestimating how many people would come out to the park for a crazy gimmick. Come see the opera singing ushers? I would bet you would be annoyed by the second inning. The tarp with fans drawn on it? That is the dumbest idea of all time. The old Comiskey kiosk? You visit it once for 2 minutes, look at the cheap, overpriced t-shirts and other novelties and never come back. Who cares about the trains? Writing things with chalk? That wouldn't be worth the expense of getting someone up to write it every day. People painting themselves and standing like statues? I see that at Water Tower Place. Not the most exciting thing to see. The way to increase attendance is to increase the season ticket base. People are like sheep. When they see the White Sox are drawing well they will want to go to games. The best way to increase the season ticket base is to offer better incentives and discounts to season ticketholders. Right now there is a discount, but is really not that much considering the commitment that is being made, and the other discounts that are available to non-season ticketholders.

Terry Boers rips Sox tradition
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) Murph is the motherf***ing man IMO and an absolute joy to listen to. What's your specific beef? And Boers is right in that the history of our franchise absolutely SUCKS. Currently, we have no players that the casual fan can get behind other than what, Frank Thomas? I can concede these things, and I'm hoping that others can as well. Just laugh it off. We're not sexy at all, we're like Joan Cusack in a bathing suit. I was having a good day until I read your last sentence. Now I'm going to be picturing that all night.

Anybody won the chance to buy Sox-Cubs tickets?
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) I found a guy on St Pats day... 4 seats Section 325, row 2...and parking pass for $210 I think I got a better deal! It wouldn't be a bad deal if there was a section 325. Unfortunately there is not.
