Going for 7 straight...
The Sox should pull a Billy Beane and work these relief pitchers ragged, then trade them for fresh blood.

Going for 7 straight...
This wasn't the first time Manuel screwed up and let Olivo hit. If the score was 10-0 with 2 out and a guy on second Graffinino would have hit there.

5th starter........
FYI Porzio's numbers were much better than that, in the same park. I don't like Porzio in the starting rotation either, but right now he's about the best option, and has kept the Sox in the game his first 2 starts.

Koch thinks he will regain closer job
I don't mind his attitude about it, but for him to regain the closer role, Gordon and Marte have to fail miserably.

Fire Sale?!?!
There's a lot of teams looking for pitching, and many of those teams are looking at Suppan. Don't just think you can throw a 3rd or 4th tier prospect at Pittsburgh and they'll jump at it. His salary is not astronomical, they may just hang on to him.

Koch thinks he will regain closer job
If Koch gets his closer job back this year, it means Gordon and Marte can't get the job done. Watching him last night, gave me no encouragement that he could be used in anything but a blow out. He really sucks.

Hawk Harrelson
I bet Hawk is a big fan of 50 cent

Hawk Harrelson
Hawk's signature strikeout call "he's gone" has turned into "he gone". He's forgetting the s just like a lovable former White Sox announcer.

Cubs/Pirates Trade
Why do you want Benson? He's going on the DL with a bad shoulder,. They can't give Kendall away, he makes too much, and is owed too much. That proposal is a steep price to pay for Giles and the financial burden of the others. No way to that trade.

Something to think about
Do you think the Braves are on the list because his brother is there?

Kendall would be an albatross around this team's neck for 4 years. Thats my Navarro reference. Kendall is a better performer than Navarro but he is double the price, definitely not worth $10 million a year, not even close. If its such a great deal, how come they can't unload Kendall on anybody?By the way, if you acquire these 2 and intend to remain competitive the next few seasons, the payroll will be around $80 million minimum. Its easy to say if you were JR you would spend all this money and risk taking a huge bath financially, because its no skin off your back if it flopped. Its too big of risk, it doesn't improve your team $18 million worth.

Maybe Giles was the "mind blowing" trade Hawk mentioned. Maybe Giles said he would exercise his no trade BEFORE the trade was made, so the deal was killed. Its just speculation on my part, but it might of happened. Why do they trade players with no trade clauses, and announce the trades without consulting the player with the clause first?

The line up isn't the problem. The problem is what it costs to put that line up on the field.

Kendall has slipped dramatically the last couple years. 2 or 3 years from now making $10 million a year, it will hamstring a team on a limited budget. He will be Jaime Navarroesque in terms of production vs. paycheck. And since his salary is double Navarro's...Giles is a great player. In essence your adding approx. $18 million a year in salary. Ordonez goes up to $14 million next year. That's $32 million for 3 players. Buerhle goes to arbitration. You want to re sign Alomar, he isn't cheap. Frank will be at least $6 million. Konerko is $6.5 and you can't move him. Koch is $6 million next year. Right there your looking at $60 million which is probably over the budget already. Loaisa is $3.5 million. It can't be done.

You would do it because you don't have to sign the checks, and may sure they don't bounce. Unless I was guaranteed a playoff run and an increase in ticket sales, I wouldn't do it. You would hamstring this organization for 4 years. Think Jaime Navarro, and double it.

Props to Bartolo
Their owner paid a boatload of money for the team, and his company has been bleeding money with the shrinking stock market the last few years. Jacobs sold at the right time. The other thing is all their name veterans are hurt, Burks, Vizquel etc. Its really a AAA team right now.

More Rumors.
What could we get in value for PK? Absolutely nothing. Carlos is the first traded, because he still has value. If a team like LA wants to take a risk on PK, we could defiantely take on half of his salary and get a solid relief pitcher(do a package of Ginter and Konerko for Mota or Shuey). LA and Baltimore are about the only two teams who have had interest in PK, and they're the only two who will. Baltimore has no interest in PK. Angelos is a stickler on medical reports. After Albert Belle, I don't think he wants players with questionable hips.

Article on Ponson's future
I wouldn't mind little Jerry Hairston taking over 2b in 2004. His dad is still with the White Sox organization. I wonder if he is what they have in mind.

Holy Shit!
A few years ago, Lieber has a no hitter going for the Cubs into the eighth, and the same thing happened. There was 7 consecutive hits, good for 7 runs. I don't think even JM would have left him in that long.
-
CY Cornejo
I'm blaming the lack of hits today on Gary Ward and Royce Clayton.
-
Roberto Alomar
He made 2 plays last night that saved at least 2 runs maybe more. Ray had pretty good range but it was mostly to his left. Alomar's 2 gems were to his right. I don't know if the Sox have had anyone the last 30 years at 2B who would have made those plays. He still has life, so if the team doesn't show any, I think they could get a prospect or 2 for him.

does anybody else still have hope?
How are you doin today Crazy?

White Flag II: White Flaggier
I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if the season ticket base next year is at its lowest level since moving in .
-
WTF?
Exactly, they were tickets they weren't going to sell anyway. This way they'll be able to get your money from concessions and parking.
