Moncada playing 3b was something the White Sox have contemplated for awhile. And it's been discussed on this board several times. Machado isn't signed yet. Why are people freaking out over this? Maybe with some work, he's good over there. It won't hurt anything.

If he is signing for the most money, that is $13 million they could have given him. Apparently they don’t need his friends on other teams.

They probably would have been better off putting the money they spent on them, into the offer.

I like the chances vs SD a lot better than Philadelphia. IMO, this is working out from a White Sox perspective about as well as possible.

I don’t see where anything has changed other than the Phillies seem like they will be out. Did anyone really think someone would offer more and he would still be a White Sox?

J Michael Robertson and the Patriots guy say the Sox are getting both. They wouldn’t lie.

This is good news. He is taking the best deal. So we will know if the Sox were serious, or just excited that a player would consider signing with them if they paid him a boatload of money.

I think Moncada get really improve with a slightly altered approach.. 7-130 with 93 strikeouts when he falls behind 0-2. Most have some tough numbers after that count. But that is almost unbelievable.

First off, the 7 year old Deadspin articles sources were people upset the lying, cheating, despicable Lozano left their agency and created a new one I don’t know where you come up with desperate for cash. According to Forbes, he made $27 million the first 9 months of last year.. And with the White Sox being used, it had to do with Bowdens comment that he was never going to sign with a team that wouldn’t contend in 2019. If that is true, how were they not used?

Maybe not, but I am sure his agency makes up for that with lawyers and tax guys. It might be better to have a street smart guy who won’t flinch doing the negotiating. He has a pretty impressive client list.

Eloy is big, but still a rookie. What they added, and what they lost during the offseason, from an fWAR perspective, was about a push. Nova and Shields, similar. Davidson and Alonso, similar. Jay was better than Avi, but Kevan Smith was better than McCann. Narvaez was better than them all. Maybe Castillo has a good year. And some guys hopefully step up. But you are asking for a lot to go right, especially with Kopech on the sidelines, for there to be even the slightest chance. This was a 100 loss team despite playing almost a quarter of their schedule vs.Det and KC.

The White Sox won 62 games. They haven’t added a player who put up a 1.2 fWAR or higher last year. With or without Manny, they will most likely suck. But at least with him and Eloy, there actually may be a reason to watch after the first couple of weeks.
