  1. Makes me wonder if the 8/$250 is accurate. Just read what came out of KW's mouth.
  2. Think of all the fake insiders who actually were giving posters crap.
  3. Over 10 years pencils out to $30 million a year. They didn't want to guarantee that.
  4. The White Sox wouldn't guarantee $300 million. You can offer Harper a contract where if he's Babe Ruth, he will get $1 Billion the next 10 years, but if they don't guarantee more than $300 million, there is no chance.
  5. I would ask J Michael Robertson, but he has left Twitter.
  6. It is the last time anyone will take their chances of actually signing a premium free agent seriously. KW said they can't afford $30 million a year if they want to build a championship roster.
  7. Again, I am just going off what the White Sox are trying to spin now, that their offer was indeed more lucrative.
  8. And even if they did, who put them in the position where less money, fewer friends, and farther from home is more desirable than the White Sox?
  9. I don't understand how the Sox save face if this is true because if it is, he took less money, ran away from his friends, to play for the Padres. It's not like he went to the Yankees or Red Sox or Cubs or Dodgers. The Padres.
  10. JR actually had this down until the Adam Dunn signing. He had fans and media believing the White Sox broke even every year. Then they asked him where they got the money for Dunn, and bringing Paulie and AJ back. You save a little here, save a little there was his answer.
  11. The the Sox spin is their offer was better, they loaded up with his friends, and he still went to the freaking SD Padres. That should make the fan base feel a lot better. And they should be proud of what they have done to this charter franchise.
  12. If they can't afford $30 million a year, why were they bidding on these guys?
  13. Perhaps. But if this was their plan, they had to know $300 million was the price, and even more for Harper. That was well known since the beginning. They had no idea all the teams would drop out, if as WSD, suggests, this was their plan, years in the making. It was sheer luck it appeared it may not go there with Machado.
  14. I'm just the opposite. At the beginning, I was laughing along with Buster Olney. But then I started looking around, saw all the teams that were out, and finally bought in. It was like the Abreu signing all over again. The Sox take advantage of the big spenders being out. I'm disappointed in myself for actually thinking these clowns could get something like this done.
  15. For some reason, they think they can talk these guys into taking less. I really wonder exactly what they are selling. It certainly isn't winning. If the Sox can't pay a player $300 million, how were they ever going to get Harper, a guy who loved DC but turned down $300 million?
  16. I read an article the other day that basically said Tatis jr. is just a younger version of Manny Machado. They get 2, the Sox get none.
  17. Honest to God, 5 minutes before this news came out, I got an email from the White Sox telling me my 20 game plan now entitiled me to free MLB.TV.
  18. I take it to mean the Sox weren't offering 10 years, and he could have possibly made more if he still was a star 7 or 8 years from now. KW said they couldn't pay $30 million to a player and build a winning roster, so there is no way they were actually going to pay him more.
  19. I tell you what, even if the White Sox made a $290 million offer, and he would have perhaps made more money than SD's $300 million offer, 300 is a magic number. He would have taken if if the Sox offered $299 million. Ego and prestige is part of this.
  20. Can't spend $1 if all you have is $0.50. It's pretty evident by KW's comments and the projected contracts at the beginning of this process, the Sox were bargain hunting. They cannot afford $30 million a year for a player. Straight from his mouth. So you can forget the top tier guys from now on.
  21. Makes me think the Sox told Lozano their offer was as high as they could go, or he told them, there is a magic number, and they blew it off.
  22. I think I may start a go fund me page to buy Harpchado negotiation participation trophies for JR, KW, and RH. They were at the table.
  23. It's the same BS they used on Tanaka, and what they were going to try to sell Ohtani with. Forget money, we will provide you with so much more...Do they even realize how bad the team has been? If they weren't prepared to go to $300 million on either of these guys, their plan was flawed from the beginning. They would have needed a lot of things to go right. They almost did, but they didn't. They needed a perfect game. They got a 3 hitter.
  24. I've never thought this, but now I do. It's time. It's passed him by. He had a nice run.
