  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) Because you know what will save this team? Better backups. But these guys are not back ups they are starting too often, that is the problem. Beckham and Rios do not need two days off out of four.
  2. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:11 AM) this team needs something that will rock it to its core, shock the sh*t out of them and cause them to refocus. That could be a firing, big player trade, something. It should be a DFA of Omar and Kotsay but it will not.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) You're arguing that Donny Lucy is part of the solution. Read the whole post I said he was not a long term option but he was actually having god at bats I guess that means nothing as it does not with guillen. I never saw Lucy play and he could suck but he was doing some good which is beter than the year plus of swinging at the first strike we see mentally. I AM NOT SAYING PLAY LUCY OVER AJ what I am saying is if Castro was healthy he would have twice as many at bats as Lucy and would be facing every leftie they face and I never saw him have a good at bat. Lucy is also as good defensively as AJ. I guess the ground out on the first pitch is just what this team needs nightly.
  4. I have sided with JR and understand his philosophy but I am tired of being told I need to support the s*** product if I want them to spend. I should not have to watch this team because it has a $100M payroll. This team is not worth watching as guillen trots out two guys that I would not want to see in the independent league. I know Lucy is not a long term option but when he was hitting the ball he should have played. Now he will rot away as we watch AJ look like s*** play on Sunday go 0-4 and not play again for a week as AJ swings at first pitch and the ball never leaves the infield.
  5. This is all guillen doing his lovie smith letting us know he is smarter than everyone.
  6. Looking good. Get a solid 20 here.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) Can we all agree that Randy Williams needs to be released? But he is left handed, he has to be used.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:46 PM) No, comments that add absolutely zero value to the discussion are awful. Statements like he doesn't have 4 starts to figure it out, etc. He's got a Cy Young, was brilliant in 4 starts last year, and hasn't been near as bad this year as some of you guys seem to indicate. So when you take a game thread and spout the same stuff 1000 times that isn't even accurate or have a shred of fact to it, that is what ruins the game thread, because it fills the game thread with unintelligent nonsense. The unintelligent nonsense started with the posting of the lineup we are just following suit.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) And talking about what a piece of s*** this team is ok. Talking about how Peavy is completely worthless, etc. How about some perspective people. I'm dissapointed but get yourselves in control cause these game threads are flat out embarrassing and to be quite frank ignorant. It is just a way to pass the time as the game progresses. Tampa is good and this lineup could not be worse. The tone was set when he blew a two run lead by walking 6 guys. The thread should be as embarassing as the lineup, it is almost there.
  10. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) It's 3-2 so we do have chance, but your definition might leave is with a handful of pitchers through MLB history. I understand what you are saying though He will barely make it 5 innings same as the Indian game from his first start. If the offense is not working a five inning 3 run start is not good.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) Seriously, STFU people. You are the same guys that were busy talking about how awful Floyd was last year and what a joke of a pitcher he was too when he started rough. Give it a rest people. You are ruining the game thread. Sorry but there is not much to talk about.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) By that definition, there are no aces in MLB. Very few of them
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:37 PM) I think he is stil an ace just like Mark An ace gives your team a chance to win every night.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) hahahahahah riiiiiiiiiiight. Are you a Cubs fan? Dempster was a closer, why not move him there? That was my point it is not a baseball move.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) Yeah you're right. That must be why they moved him into the f***ing bullpen, because he was so dominant as a starter they felt sorry for the other teams Ya they moved him because it makes perfect baseball sense. They have two guys with pen experience and yet they are not moved. Performance has nothing to do with that move.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) Time of the game we get 9 consecutive retired. Something along the line of 15 of his last 17 sounds right.
  17. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) Yeah, 3-2 is insurmountable. People seriously need to get off the ledge before you get a hernia. Shields will settle in and their pen will end it. This is a contnuation of last season.
  18. So when do we hear of some injury that will shut him down until mid May all I ahve seen from him is a scared pitcher out ther. AJ also really needs to sit more. When there was abackup that had no chance he was run out there yet Lucy looked servicable and he and Nix sit.
  19. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) Never in a million years would I even consider this trade. Why Peavy is not showing me anything. At least Zambrano will take the ball every 5th day and give your team a chance. Peavy looks like he does not want to pitch. As goofy as Zambrano is he keeps his team in the game and has intensity which this team sorely lacks. Peavy had one nice start and nothing in the other 3. He is not even giving his team a chance to win.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) There was a good slider! Would you trade Linebrink and Peavy for Zambrano? I think Peavy is an injury risk where Zambrano is a headcase that I think could play for Guillen.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 07:36 PM) Who would have ever guessed that Kotsay and Vizquel would have unproductive at bats against a pitcher who was struggling mightily? At some point KW needs to realize that if he gives guillen a certin type of player that should be used for a specific purpose, he will be overused. That L/R thing did not work in inning one as neither Omar or kotsay should be in there.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) I'll defend sitting Beckham for a game. Otherwise, no. I would to if he did not have monday off. Also we have the old day game after a night game Sunday.
