QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 03:34 AM) Thing is it's not even a lovefest. Nobody was thinking about Pods before the season. But since we're off to a bad start and JP is struggling, the crybabies have made it their daily mission to check Royals box scores hoping Pods did well so they can say, "hahahaha. Pods is the s***. Pierre sucks. Way to go, KW!." And as soon as Pods comes back to earth, and he will, the little girls will find something else. Maybe Juan Uribe goes on a hot streak and the crybabies will start a "Uribe" thread tracking his every at-bat so they can say, "hahahahaha. KW strikes again! We could've had Uribe for nothing. But noooo!!" I like the former better. Sure it hurts. But it's a nice feeling when you feel 5-10 pounds lighter. Aaron Rowand

Was at the game tonight and getting ready to watch Col OT SJ oushooting them 50-19,,,Craig Anderson Sopel, Kane, Niemi were great The defense had some bad giveaways. Toews and Hossa need to be better. My tickets were Ticketmaster 3rd level and I gotta tell you the Wrigley stereotype is in full affect as the most vocal folks were those that have no clue about hockey. I guess at $75 for an ok seat is going to get you that. -
HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!

I am off to the hawk game.....terrible sports weekend other than the cub losing 2 of 3 to the astros....both cub and Sox fans can use a nice hawk ass kicking Later -
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) I wish I could have bet money on Dempster shutting out the Astros today. With his slider and all their righties, there was no chance for Houston to do anything. cub should have been swept at home by the astros and should have lost two of three to the brewers all at home. They honestly could be in worse shape then the Sox and is my silver lining. The cubs have no fire sale material the Sox have enough fire material in their pen as well as with Konerko especially if the powere stays in there....cub nothing.

I came in from working outside yes it is only 50 degrees to check Soxtalk. It really is sad that two weeks into the season the White Sox are below laundry and yardwork. I apologize to this board for thinking this team would be good. It has not changed at all. The inability of the hitters to adjust should be why Walker is let gone......maybe it is time for Guillen to go as he really has loast any faith I had with him with his player evaluation. Back to the lawn. Go Sox. -

I am finding it really odd that the leftie rightie has so ovewhelmingly taken over guillen's managing yet the results never seem to back this up.....or I suppose I should say imagine how bad the Sox would be if this was not enforced so mightily. Kotsay as your number three hitter.........whatever. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) The dog?! The rubber mulch can get pricey can you blame him? On an other note, the stuff can get hot but that is when it is covered by the field turf so that is a large exposed to the sun area.

I get the feeling that when all is said and done the NL will be the tougher league this year. I think Boston is going to slip a little and other than the Yankees and maybe Tampa the AL looks to have a lot of average to slightly above average teams. Sadly the White Sox offensive decision making the off season is going to keep them from pulling away.

Gotta say right now......I just don't really care which is sad because 11 days ago I thought I would be into every game. -

Sox lose to Mitch Talbot no are dominated by Mitch Talbot while the Twins beat Grienke and the Tigers lose to King Felix....all you need to know about why in September and the Sox are playing Boston the last week of the year and the Twins are beating whoever they are and people b**** and moan about pitching matchups and the schedule. Last night proved to me that this offense has not changed and this season and will be the same as last year if Jon Rauch does his job the Twins will walk away with this division. Hitters do not work a count and do not know how to foul off a pitch and overswing. Juan Pierre needs to be better but I do not think he will be good enough to ignite the offense. Beckham at this point in his career will have good and bad at bats and Guillen will continue to do stupid s*** on those occassions when Pierre gets on base. Quentin, Konerko and Rios can have great games and can also be atrocious. Teahen, Ramirez and AJ are at this point are average players that compliment great players the Sox do not have these type of hitters. Until Guillen figures it out I am not sure what to make of Jones but Kotsay has shown why he was DFA'd last year. These things along with the fact that Guillen thinks he needs to change the lineup daily will keep this team inconsistent as the players are not allowed to get into a groove. I am not sure why other guys can play 150 to 162 games a year yet the Sox feel a guy should not play more then a 140 games...Guillen thinking outside the box is not a good thing.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 01:15 AM) That was a terrible TO by Brouwer. Niemi, Brouwer, Hendry, Versteeg even Toews who had chances were bad today. Kane, Seabrook, Hammer, freaking Sopel and Hossa seemed like the only ones who showed up. Hossa to me seems somewhat tentative maybe I am just being overly negative. The Brouwer TO was unacceptable and Hendry was brutal. After the Sox game it just seemed that, that was the way it was going to be. The preds did to the Hawks the same thing the the Habs did to the Caps. One stat I noticed compared to the regular season Q's playoff record is no great shakes. The CSN continued flashing to the cubs did not really exude championship to me. -

I see nothing that says this team is any different from last year except they have less power. Mitch should have a CG shutout and less then 100 pitches. Nope nothing wrong with this offense nobody can work a count. -

Just got home. Glad the Hawks are on. No reason whatsoever to start Kotsay other than to give Konerko a day off. He is brutal. I also think the lineup tinkering is not working. Start same nine 6 times a week. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) What I don't get is leaving Paulino out there to die. You have Byrdak, Lindstrom, and Lyon...use them in the few games that you're winning. Real bad managing.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) They are awful, but to be fair when a couple of your better hitters are hitting like .091 comming in, your best hitter is on the DL, and you play the two best NL teams early on in PHI and STL, and faced the 2 headed monster early on in SF (Lincecum, Cain, though even Zito who has been very good) you are not gonna look good either way. Come on, you put Berkman in that line-up and it is decent but that staff after Wandy and Oswalt is terrible. Does the NL even look at bullpens.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) Over the past 2 seasons only 3 players in baseball have a UZR/150 of -20.00 or worse, those players: Brad Hawpe (-36.1), Jermaine Dye (-22.9) and Vernon Wells (-20.9). He has the 6th worst UZR/150 over the past 3 years at -13.5. +/- has him at -26 over the past 2 years which is the 4th worst in baseball regardless of position. Regardless: Wells is 3 years younger, has shown some signs of life at the plate and should be able to play a mediocre corner outfield and won't destroy you with just horrendous mistakes late in games. It's a $14M difference over the next 4 years (2011-2014). Wells is infinitely better in the outfield than Soriano. Any metric that does not agree with this is garbage.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) No, $36,000 bail bond. Not a fine. Somebody clocked him pretty good see the photo. What a douchebag.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) I wonder if Toronto would trade him straight up for Wells. Come on Wells can at least play defense and is an ok hitter. Soriano has no baseball skill any longer. 5 years $90M.......WOW My lord the Astros are bad. They really need to move Oswalt, Pence and Lee for whatever they could get. The cub oughta clear out their farm system for Lee and Oswat and give them Soraino and $$$.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) My parents are addicted to Chi Tung, and go there probably weekly when they're in Chicago and not snowbirding down here. But that's not the calibre of sushi this thread was angling for. I work in Lincoln Park on Clark street and there are literally two sushi joints on every block they all are good and Chi Tung is right with them. Chi Tung is always packed and for some reason they added a Hitachi Grill the place is good. Hit Wonderburger again last night you are missing out.
