Only on Soxtalk can an article praising the work of KW turn into a thread about the worst trades he has made. The Mariners got nothing out of the Freddy Garcia trade.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) I don't understand the reasoning behind his reassignment if they were still to use him in games. There is more fundamental training in the minor league camps. The MLB guys are playing everyday and travel and what not. They are not working on the fundamentals and doing more basic baseball drills. They are in the same complex and can be used at home games later in the game. I also think 40 man roster things have something to do with it but I am not sure. It really is not a big deal.

There was some good stuff but I still thought it was very slow moving. The change in Roger Linus was cool. A part of me thought that maybe Alex and the principal had a thing and Ben was going to have a Locke moment of defeat in the end. The flash sideways commentary of leadership and taking over was kind of cool.

Remeber about Pena that he did not work with Coop in the spring. I am not saying it is a Coop'll fix him.....yes I guess I am but you never know. Hopefully they can get somethign out of Threets. Without researching but based on the limited action I have seen, Teahan is not off to a great start.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) Then who were the others that followed Ben? People who over time were brought to the island by Jacob.

The thing that makes the cubs look bad is the ages of the players. Should they continue to age which by nature they have to and begin to regress, it is not goign to be pretty. It is a fact that is spoken of here daily that Konerko, AJ, Linebrink and Buerhle are going to regress due to age yet Dempster, Lilly, Lee, and the likes on the north side are impervious to this.

Howard Stern was talking this morning about the writers not having any idea how the show will end........I am starting to think I agree. In the strory arc Ben was to be in four episodes. People liked him and he was written in more.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) The odds in Vegas are just like a market in a stock or future. They want a balance of action, but not too much risk. A run of people betting on a team pushes the odds lower. If no one bets on a team, it pushes it to a bigger number. The bettors only drive the line with heavy activity. This affects popular bets like the Super Bowl or the cubs. The cubs line is drastically off because of the action played on them. The line will be set to a point that Vegas feels it will not move. I view this as a greater indicator of potential outcome then a book that is looking to be sold such as.....Baseball Prospectus. Baseball prospectus has been off by an average of 7 wins a year for the Sox so chances are whatever they are doing is not working as wel las they would liek you to believe. I personally think that the Sox are much better this year than last.

I think if they move Frank back to Rt and let Shaffer be the swing tackle and pick up a good LG they will be fine. -

QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) Melton. LOL. "Pierzynski hit well over .300 last year." Ummm.... Bill... AJ hit exactly .300 last year. But, hey, Melton never seems to let the facts get in the way of an interesting conversation. After having listened to the drivel that is the cub broadcast Melton need not be close to being correct. The little go around about Ronnie chipping his tooth and any conversation surrounding Carlos Silva emergence as the 4th starter was pure gold. I felt stupid listening to the broadcast. Case in point, during the Sox/Dodgers broadcast there wasa conversation about the fact that Jenks may not be what he used to be and hopefully the rest of the pen can pick it back up.....cub broadcast John Grabow is the solid 8th inning guy and the "young live arms" are going to fill in for Guzman and Marmol. -
Sometimes the goalie needs to make a stop. Huet can not do this. I still believe they will be bounced in the first as there is no way this situation does not weigh on the whole team.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) Yeah, i didnt even think of it that way. Good point that Im sure the papers wont pick up on. All of this money is because there is no first round pick. JA does not like spending money on the draft, that is why he drafts guys that will sign......excpet Cedric Benson. JA flat out does not believe in the high draft pick money which is why they could get Peppers as oppossed to whoever may or may not pan out with the pick they could have had. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 09:48 AM) Most of the time I can trace where a dream originated in my conscious. This one had it's origins in a recent episode of Ellen. We were over at my parents list night and my sister was watching a DVRed Ellen and she made a joke about the smoke monster being the next bachelor. In my dream, the smoke monster transformed into the giant statue and started walking around. Your sister DVR's Ellen.........

With a good pass rush the corners and safties are not asked to do what they have been asked in previous years. Alex Brown as the left end could be huge and Mark Anderson is now the swing guy. A Tommy Harris ressurrection and Urlacher comeback put the defense in the top five. My hopes were high last year too.... -

A former DT was on WSCR this morning and had an interesting take on Peppers who he played with. He agreed Peppers goes at 80% too often but his 80% is better than 95% of most guys 100%. He said that Peppers is athletically better than everyone and that he wants to come to a big stage and do what he does, rush the passer and the Bears 4-3 offers that as NE and Phil drop guys into coverage and are running odd things. He also said that he believes Peppers is still maturing and will be better with his new team. Pretty good stuff. The TE thing gets me. They better get a numebr 2 for Olsen. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) I realize that the Cubs made a lot of mistakes with Bradley, but... Sorry Milton, this is 90% on you. Why? On the field he did what he does......off of the field the same thing. The cubs brought him in to be a power leftie bat and he is not that. He is an OBP guy. He is not a home run and RBI guy. His OBP was what you would expect it to be. The cubs billed him as a winner.....he has never won. He took the money but they could not make him something he is not. That is on the cubs. It would be like saying Mark Teahan is the guy that is going to produce a ton of power and RBI and bring a history of winning to the southside......then if this does not happen the minion get all upiddy and crucify the guy.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) So I'm adding Sports Package to my Comcast Bundle that includes MLB NETWORK and a whole bunch of different sports channels, only 7.99, how come I didn't know about this before. MLB Network rocks you almost do not need the Extra innigns package with their cut-ins. -
I simply can not get my head around this season. The free will thing I can not grasp and the swath of destruction is in no way shape or form a good guy. Follow me or die is not the rationale of good and hence no matter what, I do not think Lockness/MIB can be good. Jacob.......not sure about....there seems to be a good amount of death involved there but there always seem to be a rationale reasoning. So now when Hurley and Jack come back they are going to run into Illana, Lapadius, Sun, etc....by the way, where and the hell did they come from. Sayid I can not figure out and I love miles. The alt timeline I like as it seems to be building to something or going somewhere wher the island thing is runnign around in circles. Jin in the cooler rocked.

As deep as this draft sounds..one of the best ever.....now would be the time to move guys G-Reg one ofthem. A TE that can not block is not a TE. -
At this rate a hot goaltender will knock them out in round one.

Gavin Floyd was getting too far out on his front foot. Don Cooper corrected this and if it were not the case Gavin Floyd would be out of baseball. Per Don Cooper from Coop at the Cork.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 02:09 PM) Being a Sox fan, I will never think that way. We led ourselves to believe the samething after 2000 and 2005. It might not be true, but you never know. I agree with you but the olympics kind of showed me that these guys are really good not cub promo good or White Sox if everything goes right good. Hockey players seem to keep their talent if they stay healthy and it is more predictable than baseball or football.

Some people are now creating things to be down on the Sox about. FIRE COOPER Nick Masset is flourishing in Cinncinati!!! Sweet jesus.
