Terry Crews filed a sexual assault police report against an unnamed "high level Hollywood executive" who came over to him and his wife at dinner and grabbed Terry's crotch. Kevin Spacey is being completely replaced in his most recent movie that was already done filming. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/201...placement-actor

More layoffs planned at Carrier plant Trump promised to save Art of the Deal, Baby! I'm sure they'll be returning those big tax breaks Pence gave them, right?

Gary Cohn: ‘The Most Excited Group Out There Are Big CEOs, About Our Tax Plan’ He's also unironically using the term "trickle down," which was a pejorative aimed at Reagan's nonsense tax policies. Gary Cohn: Trickle-down is good for the economy "trickle down" does not actually work, and Harwood does a pretty good job throughout the interview of pointing out how badly they're lying about who the tax plan really benefits.

We're just coming off of two of the deadliest mass shootings in a little over a month. Bombs can be devastating, but they require at least some level of skill, knowledge, and planning that going on a shooting rampage doesn't. The Bushmaster you bought at Cabela's is going to reliably fire hundreds of rounds. The pressure cooker bomb may or may not explode or you might blow yourself up building it.

Michigan has a solution to gun violence: Allow concealed carry at schools, bars, and sports stadiums. https://t.co/PiVVU3KcEJ Can't imagine how that'd ever go wrong.

Handguns are responsible for a vast majority of gun injuries and deaths in this country. In the grand scheme of things, assault rifles really aren't the number one problem.

New CBO estimate out on the proposal to eliminate the individual mandate as part of the tax cut bill $338B deficit reduction over 10 years but 13M fewer people insured
-
It's a $1.5T cap specifically for the tax cuts.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) I had to reread 3x to make sure there was no allegation against the Edge in there. That would disappoint me in humanity greatly. Bono has tons and tons of tax shelters per the Paradise Papers

Part of AT&T's lawyers response was "but they haven't enforced antitrust laws against vertical integration for 40 years!" sounds like a good time to restart to me

https://www.cbo.gov/system/files/115th-cong...citsanddebt.pdf Over a 10 year period e: I think the reconciliation budget bill they passed recently had a $1.5T cap so they'll have to figure out how to come in under that, too.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 02:36 PM) Turner makes huge profits. Less money to throw into CNN. It wouldn't bother me as long as the reason isn't based on perceived politics. Turner being owned by someone else wouldn't change how profitable they are though, right? FT's headline "TRUMP DOJ DEMANDS CNN SALE!" is just so misleading.

TPC analysis is updated and re-released. By 2027, most people will see little or no change. Except for the wealthy, they still get a huge tax cut. Trump himself explained to Democrats that they gotta pass an estate tax repeal or Trump's heirs won't be able to inherit as much idle wealth. Reporters have also dug into the details of the plan more, and turns out that businesses will still be able to deduct state and local taxes. It's just regular wage-earners who won't.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) You will see more GOP retirements in the coming weeks and months, and Republicans in suburban seats are going to lose in 18 if all things remain the same (ie: the GOP has trouble passing legislation, Trump remains Trump). The thing is, this wasn't just VA and NJ. Long-time red areas like Westchester NY overwhelmingly voted out their GOP executive. An area near the Delaware Water Gap which had NEVER gone blue, did. This wasn't relegated to blue districts turning out, there was also a shift in typically red suburban districts that are fiscally conservative but don't support the fear mongering of Trumpism. Dive into the results a bit more - they're pretty fascinating. In VA, white college educated people gave a slight edge to Northam whereas they had gone for Trump in November.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) At a contentious meeting on Monday, the Department of Justice's antitrust chief gave AT&T a choice: to get your purchase of Time Warner done, either sell off CNN's parent unit or DirecTV, or we'll see you in court. Speculation the Trump administration is retaliating for CNN's coverage of Agent Orange. I know that's the breathless FT headline, but in what way would AT&T selling off Turner Broadcasting hurt CNN? On the surface, I'm going to be in favor of actually enforcing some antitrust protections that have been neglected for far too long.

I'm more in line with your thinking SB, but keep in mind it wasn't just governors' races. 3 or 4 of the top 5 GOP Congressmen in Virginia were tossed out last night in a huge wave. Democrats also managed to break the supermajority in one of GA's chambers. We've also seen a pretty steady trickle of GOP retirement announcements at the federal level, and it'll be interesting to see if that picks up pace now. e: it won't be in effect until the 2022 election, but last night conceivably opened up a couple of US House seats for Democrats from Virginia since they'll have a major say in the post-2020 census redistricting now. So that's some actual change, even if the effects won't be seen for awhile.

Right, some races are as close as 69 votes. Does look like they have a slight majority, but that could change. That's with an overall D-9 or +10 vote, too. Really highlights how ridiculous gerrymandering can be. I think it's even worse in Wisconsin, which is the case before SCOTUS right now. edit: Also saw that Gillespie got more votes than any previous GOP gov nominee, but that D turnout was massive. More people engaged in our civic institutions is a great thing. Democrats win elections when they actually bother to vote.

~Extreme Detachment From Reality~ I don't know when the media will tire of their "let's interview Trump voters to find out they still like Trump, have no understanding of the world around them" stories. edit: wonder why Trump voters are so misinformed?
