The Sexual Assault problem
Clinton is alleged to have raped and assaulted women and definitely abused his power like many of these Hollywood guys. That is not as bad as child molestation but that's a low hurdle. Clinton shouldn't enjoy the reputation that he has.

The Sexual Assault problem
The national gop does seem to be coming out against Moore. Which is good because there's another accuser who just came out with allegations that he abused her when she was 15. Burn the entire Alabama GOP to the ground though

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 11, 2017 -> 02:28 PM) Funny. But the KKK supported Democratic Governor in the lifetime of people posting here. Why do you think this is relevant in this case? When an Alabama GOP official is threatening to lynch anyone who stops them from electing Roy Moore? The parties realigned ideologically and geographically from the 60's and through really about the early 00's. The Democrats used to have a very strong southern white base but haven't in years. Nobody denies what happened in the past.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 11, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) The KKK kept prominence in Alabama by aligning with Democrat politicians... I know this is the Dem thread but can't distort history. Yes, this is true. Things have changed over the past half century. The Dem candidate is most notable for prosecuting KKK child murderers.

The Sexual Assault problem
If you look at people who talk about "rape culture" I think you'll find that the majority agree that it harms men, too. Heck, just look at how many of these Hollywood cases involve men being abused but pressured into silence. It just seems like a weird point to bring up because it's not like police frequently take claims of sexual assault by women all that seriously, either. Sexual abuse for any gender is shamed and swept under the rug.

The Sexual Assault problem
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 05:03 PM) It certainly is not. It might be impossible to predict what the likelihood of a successful prosecution might be, but I can guess right now that the police would give you the same look that Arnold used to give Mr. Drummond on Different Strokes when he said "Watchu talkin' bout, Mr. D"? Where's anyone saying that it's good or okay that it's hard for a man to get an accusation of harassment or abuse taken seriously

The Sexual Assault problem
If Joe felt that he was violated and taken advantage of, he could file a complaint or police report. Terry Crews stepping up and filing a police report over sexual assault this week is kinda important that way in showing that even big "macho" men like that can be victims and there shouldn't be shame in coming forward.

Just now, in an interview with Hannity, Moore is admitting that he dated girls as young as 16* when he was in his 30's. So he's "only" denying sexual assaulting the 14 year old, not being a child predator in general. *was the age of consent but still, what the f*** is wrong with a 30-something guy who's dating high schoolers?

2017 Democratic Thread
If anything I think they'd just expel him from the Senate and replace him with some other hand-picked R from Alabama until they hold another special election in 2018. Moore will be more hated than Cruz in D.C. anyway. But what will really happen is they'll seat him because he'll vote for tax cuts, probably.

The Sexual Assault problem
I don't know what's caused such a big cultural shift in such a short time period, but it really does seem like the default now is that the accusers are believed rather than dismissed or attacked.

The Sexual Assault problem
QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) For me, this part is all about education, and it's about consent. You drill into your son that (a) a woman can't consent when she's drunk; (b) that consent is the most important thing when it comes to sexual encounters; and © if you are unsure, don't do it because if you are wrong, you might ruin your life. It's easier to say this than to do this, and I had my fair share of drunken hookups in college. But sex is just like entering into a contract. Both parties have to have the capacity to consent. Teach your sons that and hope they make the right decisions. and theirs

2017 Democratic Thread
Right wing blogs/social media are now spreading entirely fabricated rumors that WaPo was offering women money to go on the record against Moore, and they're doxxing the accusers. Roy Moore is going to be a US Senator and the women who accused him are going to be harassed and threatened endlessly.

Senate Tax Bill Rewards the Rich More Than the Middle Class By 2026, 1 in 3 middle class families would be getting a tax hike from this bill (wealthy families and businesses would still reap enormous benefits indefinitely) edit: McConnell now says he "misspoke" when he promised this bill wouldn't raise taxes on anyone in the middle class, just like Trump "misspoke" when he promised their tax plan wouldn't benefit the rich and certainly not him personally.
