  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) How the heck is Trump bulletproof when everyone else is getting s***canned when allegations are made? I mean he might be the least truthful person in all of these controversies yet people believe him? Mind-boggling "Specifically, Sen. Franken has admitted wrongdoing and the president hasn’t," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Friday. "That's a very clear distinction." They maintain that the dozen+ accusers are all liars, with Trump himself implying that they're too ugly for him to have assaulted. People in the media and entertainment industry are being shoved out the door, but for politicians, there haven't been any big-name resignations yet.
  2. Ronan Farrow's reporting has been invaluable Harvey Weinstein’s Secret Settlements The mogul used money from his brother and elaborate legal agreements to hide allegations of predation for decades. Settlements with strict NDA's are part of the problem.
  3. He retracted his earlier statement to the AP and has issued a longer one
  4. QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 04:38 PM) Charlie Rose, come on down, you're the next contestant on Dirty Old Man! CBS fired him this morning
  5. Not worth it's own thread, but Robert Mugabe, who ruled over Zimbabwe for 37 years, resigned after a coup and threats of impeachment.
  6. Yeah, this seems like something that can be 100% verified fairly quickly.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 08:43 AM) John Conyers, the ranking member on the House Judiciary committee, apparently has a long history of harassment including settlements. He's flatly denying ever having settled a sexual harassment claim. The source of the documents supplied to Buzzfeed was right-wing social media guy Mike Cernovich, who originally rose to prominence promoting "Pizzagate" nonsense, so I guess it's wait-and-see if the claims are legitimate. e: but also according to Buzzfeed, sometimes the members aren't notified when there's a settlement (paid out of taxpayer funds)? The whole system in Congress seems extremely bad.
  8. AS THE F.B.I. CLOSES IN, TRUMP’S LAWYERS ARE SCRAMBLING TO KEEP HIM CALM The White House is projecting optimism that the investigation will soon conclude, but experts think it’s “just getting started.”
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 05:10 PM) Not sure if this is the best place for it, but DOJ has sued to stop ATT/Time Warner merger. Makan Delrahim, head of DOJ antitrust division, was a lobbyist for Comcast. Comcast previously acquired NBC Universal in a similar deal. Will be interesting to see why it was okay then, but bad now. They've also simultaneously relaxed television station ownership rules so that the right-wing Sinclair media group can buy Tribune Co. I wonder if we'll see Trump's own tweets used against him in court rulings again.

  16. His Secretary of State thinks he's a "f***ing moron" and his National Security Advisor mocks his intelligence as that of a "kindergartener" in closed-door meetings.
  17. White House to declare NK a state sponsor of terrorism They were added to the list originally in the 80's and removed in 2008 in an attempt to restart nuclear talks.
  18. Trump voter panelist: "If Jesus Christ gets down off the cross and told me Trump is with Russia, I would tell him, 'Hold on a second. I need to check with the President if it's true.'"
  19. My thought is that sexual harassment/assault is bad when it happens to men as well.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) I love that we are taking a time machine back to the 90's to distract from the actual president's legal issues. It is the Daily Mail, but the article claims to have contacted Clinton's lawyers and verified that they know there are lawsuits coming. Bill's long been a scumbag. I wouldn't exactly be shocked about new allegations.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) I agree with this, but Lavar Ball was ridiculous (not that it should surprise anyone). For sure, but he's just some bozo with a couple of sons who are good at basketball. The other guy is the President of the United States of America.
  22. The first thing they did in their press conference after getting home was to thank Trump. That the President is begging for this sort of validation is still beyond pathetic. The rest of the world knows how petty and easily influenced he is if you just puff up his ego a bit.
  23. NYT WH Correspondent Glenn Thrush has been suspended pending investigation of multiple allegations against him Exclusive: NYT White House correspondent Glenn Thrush’s history of bad judgment around young women journalists
  24. There is good reason to be concerned about this becoming politically weaponized with made-up allegations (we saw that already with bs twitter claim against Blumenthal), but so far these stories all appear to be well-reported and well-sourced including people that were told when the alleged sexual misconduct happened. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be extremely skeptical of some 'reporting' by Breitbart, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. In the mean time, these allegations seeing the light of day and people facing at least some sort of consequences for it is good. It'd be nice to have a functional justice system where we didn't have to rely on media and popular pressure for something to happen, but this is better than nothing.
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) Let's prepare for a never-ending parade of dips*** politicians being accused of touching women's asses now. Let's prepare for their gross asses getting tossed out of power instead of it being swept under the rug.
