  1. Democratic Party is still sort of garbage but Bernie isn't a panacea. Corbyn showed the potential behind energizing a large youth vote behind a progressive/leftist platform with a real vision for the future, and that's something Democrats need to seriously look at going into the 2018 and 2020 elections. That's a good strategy for Democrats to take in a lot of places. Overall, though, if they take back a majority in the House or Senate, they're going to have to bring along blue dogs and suburban neoliberal democrats with them. e: they're also two distinct political systems with substantially different structures and political histories and cultures. I don't think Corbyn's platform would work too well in much of the US. e2: I think more centrist dems have a decent counterpoint, too, when you look at France. Corbyn had a very strong showing, but ultimately, he didn't win. Macron not only won the Presidency, his newly created political party took a large majority of the parliament.
  2. Corbyn also got about 100x the s*** from both the media and his own party that Bernie did, and he still managed to win party leadership and make a huge turnaround for the whole labour party.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) giving that piece of s*** airtime is awful. Yeah, have to agree here. Even if 90% of the viewers walk away shaking their head at his lunacy, that 10% who like his ideas and would like to subscribe to his newsletter is what you've got to worry about. His whole persona was more important to him recently than the ability to see his own kids. In his recent custody trial, his lawyer tried playing his behavior off as a gimmick from an entertainer, but Jones made sure to forcefully denounce that interpretation and say he's 100% behind all of his own nonsense.

  6. Terrorism is very bad, and that's why we're partnering with our friends the Saudis to e: seriously though, praising ISIS because they killed innocent Iranians instead of innocent Kurds or Syrians or Iraqis is absolutely disgusting and if the GOP had any sort of morality left, they'd drum him out of the party today.
  7. I can't imagine how endorsing and funding Sunni terrorism would ever come back to bite the US in the ass.
  8. Trump's UK visit postponed indefinitely as he can't handle protestors being mean to him. Maybe once they jail all dissent like Saudi Arabia, he'll feel comfortable enough to go.
  9. Republican rep praises, suggests supporting ISIS because they murdered Iranians. https://www.google.com/amp/s/thinkprogress..../p/a7e9382dbe1b
  10. I think they should call for nothing but bunts in the ninth. Guaranteed success.
  11. 19-0 when leading after six is pretty darn good
  12. Kudos to Republican senator Grassley for blasting the Trump DoJ's "nonsense" letter that claimed the administration can ignore oversight requests from anyone who isn't a committee chair, which would render Democrats powerless. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/06/09/c...requests-239354
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 10:52 PM) The 96 Bulls lost game 4 of the finals by 21. That team had Steve Kerr, who is now coach of the warriors, so if they win it only proves how strong that bulls legacy is.
  14. Off for a 24th round of golf at one of his clubs this weekend. https://twitter.com/kylegriffin1/status/873275397345079296
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 03:02 PM) I'm not asking if Donald recorded, I'm asking if there is an audio system that records everything. If Trump had the option to record himself I don't know that he would be dumb enough to record himself saying dumb s***. But then again Nixon had one, that didn't work out well, I don't know that anyone since has
  16. HHS Secretary releasing ads against laws he's sworn to uphold and implement https://twitter.com/SecPriceMD/status/873254809779937281 Part of the reason that some of the exchanges are struggling is because insurers are saying that the GOP is giving them no stability.
  17. A lot of people have been worried about Russian influence over the government, but who knew that what would really be worrying was a full conversion to Wahhabism after a single trip to Saudi Arabia?
  18. straight forward committal to Article 5 of NATO still thinks NATO "pays" the US though completely bonkers press conference
  19. Trump is currently unequivocally accusing Comey of lying under oath right now. That seems like a pretty big deal. Said he'd be 100% willing to go under oath to make these claims about Comey, says he'll tell us about the tapes "shortly" Trump flatly denied ever even saying that he "hoped" the Flynn investigation would go away, while the main GOP/RNC line of defense yesterday was that your boss/the POTUS saying "I hope" isn't an order. video of the exchange: https://twitter.com/BraddJaffy/status/873258253567787010
  20. Earlier today, SoS Tillerson released a statement urging Saudi Arabia et. al. to 'ease' their blockade on Qatar. Trump is now back to bashing them in a speech. Qatar contains a US CENTCOM base that is the largest in the region and is critical for operations in the area. It seems like Trump hates them now because the Saudis put on a good show for him.
  21. Other countries manage to build out infrastructure not only cheaper but faster and usually with more regulatory hurdles than the US has.
