QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:26 AM) Changes won’t come immediately, but Vice President-elect Mike Pence is promising that some of the laws he believes are anti-Christian will be repealed as soon as possible. In a recent interview, Pence restated his commitment to abolishing birth control mandates and bathroom choice protection for Transgender people. Mike Pence has also been clear that he would like to defund Planned Parenthood, and overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision legalizing abortion, says LifeNews. Pence claims that along with Donald Trump, he will uphold the Hyde Amendment that prevents taxpayer dollars to be used for things that are “morally objectionable.” http://www.inquisitr.com/3698135/mike-penc...oom-protection/ We are going to see an awful lot of reactionary policies pushed through at the federal level in this administration. Do everything you can to work against this at the state and local levels.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) Except he works for Goldman, not Chase. No, Dimon's the CEO and President of JP Morgan-Chase.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) Yeah, if anyone took a look at his policies you can see that wasnt the case. His closest advisors are career politicians. And career wall street people.

I'm sure shack has more insight into this, but my understanding is that cheap natural gas has killed off coal more than anything.

Coal is awful and I really hope it doesn't become competitive price-wise again.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:11 AM) Hey, pointing out incompetency is 100% legit and I totally agree. Acting like this is a new world order of white people that will transform the country into Germany circa 1930 is what i'm mainly laughing at. It's bad enough if we transform the country into America circa 1960 (and that's being awfully generous) if you're a racial minority. It's bad enough if we transform into America circa 2000 if you're gay. This is a country with a long and dark history of white supremacy. It's only in the last few decades that that has been broken, slowly, and a lot of people are legitimately scared that we're going to backslide very quickly when the candidate who ran on white nationalism takes charge.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:09 AM) OMG! THere are s***ty people in the world!! WHAT A SHOCK! This is literally the same response as me posting the black women saying that Obama was going to pay her mortgage now that he's President and concluding that all black people must feel the same way. Come on, you guys are better than this. No, it's not. One is, at best, one woman being ignorant about what Obama was going to do. The other is dozens of stories from not even 24 hours into President Elect Trump of open racism and bigotry aimed at minority communities. It doesn't matter if it's not all white people that are s***ty, there's enough of them that are and they feel empowered right now. Minorities of all stripes rightly feel like they will be and already are being targeted, and you're just trying to dismiss that.
-
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:01 AM) I'm not saying you guys can't be upset or have an opinion. It's the extreme versions of those opinions that i'm referring to. It's feeding into a sky is falling mentality that is just ludicrous. You don't get to tell the tens of millions of Americans from minority communities that they don't have a right to be legitimately scared after this country elected a campaign of white nationalism and open hatred (with fewer votes). Trump has said awful, awful things and promised to harm these people as part of his campaign, as have the people he's surrounded himself with. The racists and bigots are clearly emboldened and empowered right now.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) That's the door of a muslim prayer room at the NYU student union yesterday. Please person who doesn't have to be afraid for their life, tell people who do that they should calm down. I'm sure they'll listen. And that's just the beginning. Philly, today

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Obama did not campaign on being a Socialist. He did not campaign on destroying the 2nd Amendment. Those fears were stoked by ignorance, not by facts. Look at Trump's first 100 days pledge. Look at what he said about Muslims and Mexicans during the campaign. Look at Shaun King's twitter feed regarding racially motivated attacks on the first day of Trump as President elect. Look at the fact that he's likely to have America's largest climate denier involved at the high ranks of the EPA. There's legitimate hard evidence that Trump's policies - stated during campaigning and otherwise - are going to have pretty negative impacts on large portions of this country. I'm hopeful that Trump reigns it in and that he governs toward the center. I don't see any evidence to support that hope though... This is from a friend, and I think it captures and explains how a lot of people are feeling right now and why.

Russia says was in touch with Trump campaign during election

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 08:48 AM) People acting like the world is over? Read the dozens of examples on Shaun King's twitter timeline of racists being emboldened and harassing people all over the country. This is only one day after he's been elected. It's only going to get worse so don't tell me that people are overreacting. example 1 example 2 example 3 example 4 example 5 example 6 example 7 example 8 example 9 example 10 the list goes on from Michigan Royal Oak students chant 'build the wall' in viral video and some more http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/education/...-county_article This won't and can't be taken lying down, giving up, handing the country over to the smaller number of people who chose hate.

Certainly called that one.

Soothing kids' fears about a Donald Trump presidency This same sentiment has been echoed already by all of my teacher family members. This is basically my wife's outlook right now to a t, and it's something I'm struggling to come around to right now.

The family research council wrote the GOP plank on LGBT. They haven't come anywhere.

Worst of all, we've completely legitimized trump's white nationalism and regular denigration of women and religious and ethnic minorities. I'm deeply ashamed of my country today.
-
Right, it's not up to Trump individually but more so about the justices he will appoint.
-
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 08:06 AM) Exactly, even with a majority Trump will not just breeze his way through legislation. I understand it sucks losing a game played every four years and for one day, but let's not pack our bags for Canada just yet. We'll get through it Rather than having a liberal supreme court for the first time in decades, unprecedented republican obstructionism is now being rewarded. That will be felt for decades. The aca will be gutted, throwing tens of millions off of health insurance. Environmental regulations will be gutted and we're guaranteed to do nothing on global warming. Zero progress will be made on restoring the voting rights act. Abortion rights will be gutted. Public sector unions will be gutted.

More registered democrats voted Trump than registered republicans voted Clinton. https://twitter.com/JohnRentoul/status/7963...src=twsrc%5Etfw

Clinton won the popular vote. f*** the electoral college forever.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:40 PM) PA, MI and WI need to swing or its a Trump presidency. I didn't think this country was this dumb and hateful, but here we are.

Also f*** you James Comey

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:37 PM) Why? Unless she wins Michigan and Wisconsin, she's toast. It's better than not winning Colorado?

Colorado to Clinton, shaking slightly less
