Hey man don't go dropping a bunch of silly nonsense and then use me as an excuse to flounce off. Own your claims and I'll gladly shut up. Also pear learn the definition of the word ignorant.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 09:47 PM) CNN's closer to Fox News. Occupy Democrats/Daily Kos would be closer to Breitbart. CNN paid trump's former campaign manager who is still in regular contact with Trump 500k to be on the air. CNN is without an ideology beyond ratings ratings ratings imo.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 08:43 PM) Because what you are summarizing arent what the email says? The context of the email is a speech. They are saying that Hillary dislikes the phrase. And then they discuss whether or not they should use it. The email "truth" means that if they dont use the phrase it could be seen as a false start. Your reading of the email is your opinion, everyone is entitled to one, but I think that if you actually read the entire dialogue the meaning is pretty clear. Lets look at the actual statement, not your biased reading: I bolded a phrase because words are important. When you parse statements for your own gain, its at best deceiving at worst its outright dishonest. I get that you have some sort of vendetta against Hillary, but if you think that you can just pass nonsense internet stuff off as fact, you are sadly mistaken. Do your own research, quit parroting. As for the rest, show me the evidence. In the Republican thread you state: But when I hit the link, it doesnt show any evidence that Saudi Arabia is funding HRC's campaign. It says "She took $50mil from them" it doesnt source that statement, it doesnt provide me anyway to verify what they are talking about. For all I know they are referring to Saudi Arabia giving money to the US, which in no way would reflect your statement that they gave money to her campaign. So again, please provide facts. Also explain to me the relevancy of the statement "the emails are admissible in court". Emails are evidence. In a court case emails can be obtained via discovery. This isnt some shocker and not sure what relevance it has at all to your misreading of the email. Unless its just a red herring to divert attention from it. Iirc db or rabbit posted something similar about the Saudis several weeks back, but it turned out that the donation was to an independent pac so legally Clinton has zero control over it and can't accept our refuse any donations.

Yeah I don't think you get what CNN is or only started following politics in the last couple of months. They're a garbage organization, but they are not in any way "of the left" and were one of many organizations fawning over Trump until relatively recently. Hmm why are there a bunch of negative Trump stories dominating the news recently it is a mystery. Where do you typically get your info, rabbit? I ask because it's frequently wrong or misleading in predictable ways.
-
CNN is pure garbage but calling them anything "of the left" lmao
-
It'd provoke a constitutional crisis possibly. They might not hold the Senate though and then it's a moot point. It's just a senate confirmation so you don't need to worry about the house in this case.
-
That CNN thing was that her camp was given a list of questions for surrogates for some pre townhall coverage. Stop being so damn gullible and get some better sources if you want people to stop being condescending to your ignorance.
-
Lol CNN a "Breitbart of the left" Jesus Christ

Anyone can nominate someone for the peace prize, being nominated is meaningless.

Thank you women for saving US men from their dumb selves.

InfoWars is saying that they'll pay people $5k if they disrupt Clinton's rallies with "BILL CLINTON IS A RAPIST," so of course that's happening now.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 04:09 PM) The "pulling up your bootstraps" method doesn't work for everyone. When in poverty, often the parents get severely depressed and get other mental health issues. [pedant] Language changes so everyone today knows what's meant when someone uses the phrase, but originally it that phrase was meant as an absurdity--it's literally impossible to pull yourself up by your bootstraps. [/pedant]
-
But there are undoubtedly plenty of cases of good parents struggling in poverty who try to do the best by their kids and would be helped massively by an extra $1k.
-
QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) Bernie Sanders said something like "being poor is expensive" and this is part of what he meant. John Scalzi wrote a pretty good essay over a decade ago now on "being poor" and it's 10-year follow-up highlighted the ones most relevant to the current topics itt.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) Baseball isn't clouded with subscribing to ideologues and deception so there's less room for bias. Sure you have the extremist stat guys who think you can create a playoff team in an excel sheet on one side and "Let's hire Ron Gardenhire and bunt" on the other but those are the fringes. In politics, most everyone is extreme. I appreciate the complement though. I WILL GO TO WAR WITH YOU OVER THE SUPERIORITY OF fWAR!!!!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 03:27 PM) Honestly through the exposure I have gotten to differing amounts of early education, the biggest thing that needs to be done is to convince parents stuck in the poverty cycle that the best way for their kids to break out of it starts from Day 1, and not Age 5. I run into so many people who think because they didn't do anything with their lives, that their kids won't either, so their kids never get exposed to things like reading until a much later age than they should. That failure follows them as they trail their contemporaries all of the way through school, and never full recover as a whole. Sure some individuals get saved and recover, but as a group, no. That is important, and it seems to be a big part of what ultimately ends up being blamed on the school systems. At its root, a lot of our education problems are really poverty problems.

I will admit that I got this info from the Trump boys' twitters, but: 13 states have voter registration deadlines TODAY: FL, OH, PA, MI, GA, TX, NM, IN, LA, TN, AR, KY, SC. I know we're mostly IL here, but everyone make sure you're registered!

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) Oof, then nevermind! 1.6B a year is a drop in the bucket of the federal budget though that's like one garbage F-35 a year
-
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) Ok let's be real on this child tax credit thing. If you're making $3k a year, you can't afford yourself, let alone a child. You're on welfare for everything you need in life including shelter, food and healthcare. $1,000 month isn't a paycheck, but it's also not a disincentive to having another kid you can't afford and shouldn't bring into the world. I question the need for that kind of credit given that all of the care for the child is being paid for anyway, but at the end of the day how many people would take advantage of that credit and it's only $1,000. Pretty much a drop in the bucket. Per the article bmags posted, dropping the phase-in point to $0 from $3k would cost 16.5B over 10 years.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) It is exactly why they didn't smear him until later on in the campaign. They KNEW they could destroy him, and they wouldn't have to run on any platform at all. They haven't even really opened up until recently. I think their goal was to let him keep shooting himself in the face as much as he wanted and not get in the way, let as much of the GOP tie themselves to him as possible in spite of that, and then open the floodgates. And, from all polling indications, it's working.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 03:01 PM) I've been saying for years that HRC would be the next president. I have never wavered on that. Although I never thought in a million years Trump would win the GOP, but once he did, HRC should have popped champagne right then. Some of the wikileaks recent emails showed that that is pretty much exactly what happened. Trump was their dream candidate to run against.
