  1. Nothing again about the environment or global warming.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) Can you imagine how frustrated his handlers/advisors must be? You know there are people in that room that see the things that we all see, points of attack and weaknesses of HRC, and they are trying to council him and then he just goes out and does his thing Eh at this point the campaign is being run by Steve Bannon who also runs Breitbart. It's all true believers. Bannon has wanted to go scorched earth against Ryan and the GOP establishment for years, and the campaign is being run by the people who have earnestly believed for years that Republicans would dominate every election if they only attacked Democrats like they should be instead of being a bunch of RINOs.
  3. Oh and he's doubling down not just on jailing his political opponent, but also jailing the people who originally investigated Clinton.
  4. Trump and his supporters are becoming completely unhinged.
  5. Mayor 9/11 suggesting that Clinton didn't care about 9/11, wasn't there http://www.nydailynews.com/news/hillary-cl...Slide=1.2183706
  6. Some fun info about that 'experimental' LA Times tracking poll that swings somewhat wildly but has been very favorable to Trump: How One 19-Year-Old Illinois Man Is Distorting National Polling Averages The one Trump supporting 18-21 year old black male who earns 75-100k and counts for 25x normal weight did not take the poll this week, so the percentage of black support for Trump went from 14 to 5%. That's why that poll should be ignored.
  7. the Trump campaign's latest fundraising pitch, this time from Eric Trump, uses 538's "if only men voted" map as evidence of their momentum. They're at Baghdad Bob levels of denial.
  8. This article somehow manages to be condescending to just about everyone, but I think it manages to capture some of the economic struggles/devastation facing the more rural and small-town areas of the country. http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-reasons-trum...ne-talks-about/ For as much as white nationalism and white grievance drives Trump's base, there are real economic anxieties out there that are unfortunately overshadowed by that other 90% of his campaign.
  9. What? No way. I don't believe it. There wasn't a single explosion and no CGI. Wait...unless...the entire thing was CGI?!
  10. Whenever I hear "Aaron Burr," I always picture that 90's Got Milk? commercial with the guy eating a peanut butter sandwich and trying to call into some radio contest. Effective advertising, I guess.
  11. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) It's not even IN the Consitution IIRC. No, and it's not a law either. It's just a procedural thing that fell out of some other changes they were making and wasn't even intentionally put into the rules. There's a pretty good summary about the history of the filibuster from Brookings that's from Congressional testimony. I was wrong, it was Aaron Burr and not JQA
  12. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) The Senate filibuster was never intended to be used the way that the Republicans have used it since 2008. The Senate is already set up that way by design, and especially now considering the Democrats need 7-8 million more votes to have a majority in the House. That SHOULD be a full-blown mandate, but it ends up just being a thin temporary majority for the Dems. The filibuster was just an accident of history from when John Q. Adams was rewriting the Senate rules in the early 1800's, and nobody even really "discovered" this One Weird Trick To Halt All Laws That Senators HATE! for years/decades. People act like it was some deliberate mechanism or that it's built into the Constitution or something rather than just a parliamentary procedure quirk.
  13. Court ordered registration be extended six more days due to Hurricane Mathew in Florida.
  14. If the Democrats take back the Senate, what do you guys think the odds are for: 1) Abolishing the filibuster for SC nominees 2) Abolishing the filibuster entirely
  15. edit: never mind about that map, apparently it's some hypothetical garbage, thanks a lot nate silver QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 09:36 AM) You're not supposed to actually USE the word "authoritarian." You're also not supposed to lie about imaginary black and Hispanic drug dealers invading your lily-white state to impregnate your precious white women and say you have proof, but your proof says those drug dealers are mostly white so you invent racial resentment out of nothing, but... baby steps. LePage is a living, breathing example of the damage a third party can do to your own politics in a first-past-the-post system.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-hillary-cl...-182710546.html Maybe the worst political ad in recent memory...attacking Clinton's health "problems" This is wrong because it's not a link to
  17. Some scary-crazy from Maine's LePage, saying that we need to counter Obama's autocracy with an authoritarian power from Trump. And some creepiness from Trump:
  18. Some more coverage of Clinton's child tax credit plan, which puts the total cost of the program at closer to $200B over a decade. The plan not only lowers the phase-in threshold to $0 (from the current $3000), it also doubles the credit across the board. http://www.npr.org/2016/10/11/497570475/ne...ost-200-billion
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) And how exactly did it get to this point? Did you go along when your party called for "Self deportation" in 2012? Did you get angry and vote against that? Did you casually look the other way at the howls of "voter fraud" when even people within the party admitted publicly that it was just a way to keep the blah people from voting? Were you ok with your party being filled with this poison up to a certain point and only mad when the cup finally spilled over? For crying out loud, here's 5 minutes of you can imagine crammed into one Fox News segment. This aired on the Republican's quasiofficial network. In 2016. How did we get to this point? How did we get to the point where we have a KKK member running for Congress, where we have slurs being hurled at Jewish reporters, where you can drive past all the Confederate flags to a trump rally? Because people didn't stop it. Because people were ok with it as long as it did something useful. https://mobile.twitter.com/jbarro/status/785992313042505728
  20. How many arms are even left in their pen this is crazy
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 09:00 PM) So another "misinterpretation." I am beginning to see a pattern. In fact this pretty much had to be the case because it is 100% illegal for campaigns to even solicit foreign donations let alone accept them.
