There was just a commercial on WCIU saying that if you have satellite TV, that Sox games on WCIU are only available on DirecTV.

Looks like we're in for another night of being pinched by the home plate ump again. :headshake

Chicago, Green Bay express interest in Couch Posted: Thursday April 29, 2004 12:48PM; Updated: Thursday April 29, 2004 1:59PM GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Brett Favre doesn't care if Tim Couch comes to Green Bay. Favre may not have to. Couch, who has been talking to the Packers, was given permission Thursday by the Cleveland Browns to talk to another NFC North team, the Chicago Bears, in hopes of pulling off a trade. Browns spokesman Todd Stewart said Bears general manager Jerry Angelo contacted Cleveland coach Butch Davis on Wednesday. Chicago's interest comes just days after the club drafted Ohio State's Craig Krenzel in the fifth round. Rex Grossman, a first-round pick last season, is the Bears' projected starter with Jonathan Quinn backing him up. The Packers have been negotiating with agent Tom Condon for weeks in an attempt to get Couch, but have so far been unable to reach an agreement. Green Bay wants Couch, a former No. 1 overall draft choice, to back up starter Favre. Couch would sit in Green Bay, but he could come in and win the Bears' starting job in training camp. Favre, meanwhile, said he is not worried. "I haven't put much thought into it, really," the Green Bay Packers' star quarterback said Wednesday. "I'm just concerned about what I'm doing and continuing to play the way I've played, to try to be there every week." Favre has started 208 straight games, a record for an NFL quarterback. "I've never been concerned about who would play if I got hurt, because I don't anticipate that happening," Favre said. "I realize that at some point someone else will be the starting quarterback for this team, but I haven't put much thought into it." The Packers have. Although they hope Favre can play at least two more years, they realize he's 34 and entering his 14th NFL season, and they would like to start grooming his successor as soon as they can. They failed to land a quarterback in the draft last weekend, however, and with the Couch negotiations stalled, they re-signed Doug Pederson, who took most of the snaps at minicamp Wednesday. The Cleveland Browns are trying to trade Couch, the top draft pick in 1999, who became expendable with the signing of Jeff Garcia. The Packers are trying to rework the final two years of Couch's deal, which call for him to make $15.6 million. Copyright 2004 Associated Press. All rights reserved. I heard back in the late '70s, Wrigleyville had a serious gang infestation problem. And that those people who started buying the property when the Chicago PD started getting them out of there were extremely smart as now that property is probably worth 10 times the amount they originally paid. They're doing the same now by USCF. With a parking lot and easier transportation via the Dan Ryan and the close proximity to downtown, USCF will have a serious attendance boon in the coming years.

I remember the Sox using that in '91 when Robin Ventura hit that game winning grand slam off of Goose Gossage to beat Texas. That's the game when Big Frank picked him up over his shoulders at home plate. Man, what a team that was. Stupid A's and Twinkies keeping the Sox from the AL West crown that year.
-
Royals also won 5-3.
-
Twinkies win 9-5. After Catalanatto got a leadoff hit, Wells struck out, Delgado grounded out and Phelps struck out. I hate Minnesota. :banghead
-
Another wild pitch. And yet, another run. 9-5 Twinkies. Now I'm really hoping he pitches over the next 4 days.
-
Wild pitch. Another run for the Twinkies. I hope ole' Terry gets a chance to pitch over the next 4 days.
-
Now 7-5. Thank you Terry Adams. :fyou
-
Twins back up 6-5. :banghead

In between Mac, Jurko and Harry, during a commercial break, they played a promo for Mariotti's show from today when he had Hendry on. I wonder how many times he has asked KW to come on there. And it's not like he can say he's not available, considering KW was on MJH yesterday. In fact, Mariotti hasn't had a single person from the Sox organization on there. This really surprises me!

From the Daily Herald:

With all due respect to all Jayhawk and Spartan fans, if the Bulls get the #1 draft pick, they need to look no further than:
-
I've been taking them seriously since the 2nd time Loaiza lost 1-0 to them. They've only gotten better this year. Fortunately, we don't face them until the end of July. Either by then, they'll be definitely for real, or they would've cooled off significantly.
-
We better hope they do, 'cause we get Hentgen tomorrow, Halladay on Friday, :puke Lilly on Saturday, and undecided on Sunday. We need our pitching to be on par and the bats smoking.
-
Colon's line: 4 innings, 7 hits, 7 earned runs, 3 walks, 6 K's. ERA of 4.06. So in comparison, the Angel retread now pitching in our organization gave up 8 runs over 5 innings, while their big catch during FA gave up 7 runs over 4 innings. At least we have the comfort of knowing that the Angel retread is only making 1.725 million, while Bartolo pulls down 11 million. It's all about that bang for the buck!
-
Then, when they had to face a "real" team on the road, they got outscored 19-1 in both games. Somehow, I can't see them being at #3 next week (unless CBS Sportsline is owned by the Trib).

Mariotti will probably go back to having Harry Teinowitz or Mark Silverman as his co-host again so he won't have to hear anyone refute his Cubbie love from this point on.
-
I didn't hear the entire show, but from what I heard when Mariotti was again railing about building the park in the South Loop so "young professionals" could go to the game afterwards, Levine said the area where the Sox play in is fine right now and also noted that some Cub fans go to the games more for the atmosphere and ambiance than to actually watch the game. I know Mariotti didn't like that.
-
Then you know Jobu can't be too far behind.
-
Mariotti made the mistake of having Levine on his morning show today. Every point Kotex Boy brings up, Levine is refuting him. He's being reduced to petty arguing at this point. My favorite was when Kotex said he had been writing in Chicago longer, and Levine countered that he was writing with the Sun-Times before Mariotti came aboard. Mariotti is just like any Cub fans. They go into an argument with no facts whatsoever and look like idiots when the truth is presented to them. Kudos to Levine for putting Mariotti on the ropes.

To Jon Rauch: "If you return to Chicago this year, do you think you would come back with a chip on your shoulder? Considering you pitched well enough in spring training to warrant serious merit for the 5th starter's position. And where exactly do you think is your place within this organization?"

There's a new Mastercard commercial that asks Cub fans what they would give up for a World Series. After the varied, stupid, & pathetic responses, they go to their catch phrase: Cubs winning the World Series: Priceless. That's alright though. Mastercard can be another in the long line of schmos promoting the Cubbies. The Sox embody the motto of rival card Visa: "Everywhere you want to be".
