  1. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 07:13 AM) You could also look at it if the Bears score a TD on that drive the game is probably over. Yeah, that is probably true. The Panthers didn't exactly get great field position either, considering it was a chip shot. What, did they get the ball at the 25-30? I agree with Brian, this is a team loss, and that includes the coaching staff. I'm not going to give up on this team yet, because I think we can play with anyone, and if we can get some momentum going, this team can certainly roll off 5-6 wins straight. But they've got to tighten it up in a lot of areas in order to do that.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2014 -> 08:13 PM) This is how the world works these days. If we're comparing offering a guy in his late 20's an 8 year deal and a guy in his late 30's a 3 year deal...I find myself leaning towards the former. If you want a young free agent, perhaps. I've seen nothing from Heyward that would make me comfortable with an 8-10 year contract.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) Down field as in maybe 10-15 yards down field. They didn't take a deep shot all game. Well at one point he was 24-28. He threw the ball fine with the exception of the throw to Holmes that got picked off. I didn't have a huge issue with Jay today. The issue I had was with the play calling once the Panthers started dialing in on Forte. Kuechly frightened us away from that seam pass to Bennett much of the day, but we really did very little to get him more involved in the game plan.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) IDK if anyone noticed, but pretty much all of Cutler's throws down the field were absolute crap today. Very inaccurate. We dink and dunked the Panthers the entire first half and that worked. They figured out that's all we're going to run in the second half and shut our offense down. I didn't really see any throws downfield. I think they were trying to restore his confidence after last week, as well as protect the line a bit with Bushrod out. That was fine, except they never went away from it once the Panthers adjusted to it.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) The defense was easily the strongest part of the team today. I have no clue how you could watch this game and walk away saying the defense blew it. The offense would have scored ~13 points if not for the defense giving them field position and the defense gave up 2 TD that weren't clearly the product of turnovers by the offense. Carolina's offense was really limited today. The defense did well to cause the turnovers but given that Cam can't run and he was missing all three of his regular running backs, they weren't particularly impressive. The whole team laid an egg after the first quarter. Couldn't afford to lose this one after the home loss to Buffalo.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2014 -> 04:18 PM) Only way he gets a 3-5 year deal is if he puts up a sub-.700 OPS next year or blows out a knee. Even repeats this season and he's in the 8-10 year range, no doubt whatsoever. And I'd do that if we don't fill that corner OF hole this offseason. I want no part of an 8-10 year contract.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 07:08 PM) So apparently Rob Bironas had a .218 BAC when he crashed his car a month ago and died http://deadspin.com/report-rob-bironas-was...e-of-1642310130 The comments threads on Deadspin are truly glorious
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) Best Fans in Baseball! http://deadspin.com/the-mayor-of-st-louis-...s***-1642052026 Oh thank you for this gift...I'm dying
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 09:28 AM) It was the first time in a long time we had done anything against a zone read QB and Allen did a pretty good job staying home. We don't even know if we'll have him. I'd say Cam is a better QB then Newton, although agree that as a whole they are similar players with similar upsides (and I say that in a positive manner in regards to both). And to think this entire time I thought they were the same person...
  10. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 1, 2014 -> 02:39 PM) Boom my three scramble teams finished 1 - 6 - 7. My top team of a freshman and junior shot a six under 66 and won the tournament by 8 shots. Nothing like bringing home some hardware. I celebrated by picking up a Titleist 913D3 driver. My twenty year old Taylor Made may finally be getting a long rest in the back of the closet. Congrats Tex!

    QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 1, 2014 -> 06:23 AM) My dog got absolutely soaked in Great Dane slobber at the dog park yesterday. I keep towels by the door of the house so I can wipe them down when they come inside...

    Better to have loved, and lost, than to have never loved at all. Every day I come home from work and my great dane comes jumping at me will make him leaving me worth it. Just the thought of him not being around at some time is enough to make me shudder, but you just need to take advantage of the times you have. For instance, he happens to have pink toenails on his front paws right now because my wife thinks he is a princess and decided to paint his nails. It's funnier than s*** seeing this big blue dog running at me with hot pink nails.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 01:51 PM) By the way, if we're talking Hahn, one of his biggest negatives to his score was keeping Viciedo on this roster. Given what we saw from him this year, it was a mistake not to take the best offer we had, whatever hill of beans it was, and cut the cord with him. This is on KW. By the time Hahn got him, and especially after Avisail went down, there was more value in keeping him than moving him for nothing.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 11:45 AM) Baseball field? Ahhh...
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 11:03 AM) Who is the Pirates pitching coach? Last year, he fixed Liriano. This year, Volquez. I posted some good articles awhile back about the Pirates success with pitching and defense. Essentially, they are teaching all their starters to induce ground balls, which they then can take advantage of through extensive defensive positioning.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 11:19 AM) More at link http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/968...pen-next-season That's fine...they will figure it out. Lots of other things to worry about as a Sox fan than this, IMHO anyway.
  17. We deserved to lose that game, but it easily could have gone the other way. Just got away from us, unfortunately, and I'm not sure we could afford it to with this schedule. If Jay hits Alshon in the end zone in the second quarter and we have a better camera angle on that play at the end of the half, this game is entirely different. No excuses, because we couldn't get to Rodgers, but we could have been right in this game very easily. The margin just isn't that big on the NFL, and we certainly aren't as bad as we looked today.
  18. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 27, 2014 -> 09:47 AM) Just a horrendous afternoon for the Americans. I know we've seen two 10-6 comebacks in the last 15 years, but it's essentially academic at this point I think we'll fare better in the individual matchups...but getting 8 1/2 tomorrow is a tall order. I f***ing love Graeme McDowell. One of the coolest cats on the planet. Any one who says his partner hit some swashbuckling iron shots is badass in my book.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 05:27 AM) I saw somebody comment that with Phil's wife the smile is real, the tits aren't. On Phil, it's the exact opposite. Well she's a breast cancer survivor; that's a pretty disgusting comment. Phil, on the other hand, is one of the nicest professional athletes around...Google his tipping habits...
  20. Watched the morning matches all night...did not look good early...great comeback by Jimmy Walker and some clutch play by Phil and Keegan. Spieth and Reed dominated their match, as did Stenson and Rose. Excited for the afternoon matches.
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) Personal preference I guess...I don't really watch movies or anything on my iPad mini (or phone), I use it to read/browse, and 5.5" is more than big enough for that. You know, stopping to think about this for a minute, it's truly amazing how much has changed since 2007 when it comes to phones/tablets/computers, especially phones and tablets...it's truly spectacular where we've come from in such a short amount of time. First 3.5" was considered huge, complete with low-res screens, then 4" with higher resolutions came around, then 5", then 6"...and it's crazy how much it's changed our habits. Browsing from the couch used to be a chore (in comparison to today), but with bigger phones and tablets, it's now quite amazing. and now enter the smartwatch...
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 24, 2014 -> 09:07 AM) worst case scenario they have to run a new coax line. you can pretty much always run new lines. Yeah, they come in separately to my house...not sure what the setup looks like at the box, but I've got DirecTV coming in through the front of the house and Internet coming through the back.
  23. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 24, 2014 -> 09:09 AM) I don't think Hardy has an option. If I'm right, he's the only comparable alternative to Alexei on the market. They won't want to pay Hanley to decline for them -- I think Cashman has learned his lesson the pasty couple years about fielding old, injury prone has-beens. The other guys you listed are very clearly worse than Hardy/Alexei, except Lowrie, who won't be available. I wouldn't be able to watch Hardy and his girly throwing motion
