QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 10:06 AM) Investigating my yips with my irons today, I am fairly convinced its going to come down to finally pulling the trigger on better fitting clubs. I keep digging the toe and its killing me. Are your irons forged or cast? If they are forged, you may be able to get the lie angle bent a few degrees...Are you having the same problem with both sets of your irons (I remember you saying you had a set of pings fitted when you joined your club?). I have a lot of problems with hitting the ground first as well. Not really sure if it's actually the toe hitting first or the heel (my guess), or neither. I had my wife take some video of my swing and uploaded it into a program i downloaded called V1 golf. You can watch your swing frame by frame and draw all the lines and what not to see what movement is occurring throughout your swing...it's really cool. I've found that I have a bit of a forward sway going on when I transition from my backswing to my downswing, and I think it's the source of me hitting behind the ball with my irons. So the last few rounds, I've been focusing on taking the club back more slowly, which I think is allowing for a smoother/softer transition to the downswing, which is allowing me to make more consistent contact with the ball. Thursday I have an appointment for a trackman session. I'll hit all my clubs outside on the range and they should be able to give me data outputs for all sorts of things...swing speed, ball speed, ball spin, launch angle, carry distance, etc. From there, he can tell me where I need to tweak my swing to get the desired ball flight/spin that I want, as well as help me determine the optimal club fitting (shafts/loft/lie angle). Might not be a bad idea for you to do, Rock.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 09:05 AM) Yesterday's final round was more entertaining and enjoyable than 90% of Tiger's major victories. It sucks that the media has to keep talking about Tiger while this new generation is making history and creating a much more compelling and memorable viewing experience. I seriously watched almost every minute of coverage from Friday morning onwards. That was the most fun tournament I can ever recall watching. Unbelievable.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) There are a lot of nice courses in Vegas, aren't there? There are. This was TPC Summerlin, which will host a PGA tourney event in a few months. They've been growing this obnoxious rough out for the past few months that is really annoying. It's not long like you saw at Valhalla, but it's this thick Bermuda that just swallows your ball. I took a lesson about three weeks ago that has done wonders for my driving. Still trying to figure out how to make better, more consistent contact with my long and mid-irons, but I'm getting there. Right now I'm about a 7 handicap, but I'm very inconsistent. If I putt well, I can shoot 80 or thereabouts. But if I don't, and I don't drive the ball straight, I can also put up 90. We are holding our Club Championship the week after the tour event. Should be pretty fun. 3 round tournament, with a gross division for the real players, and a net division. I'm hoping to get my game in order so I can at least challenge par (net), but if we're playing the tour setup, I don't know what to expect.

That was the most fun I've ever had on a $25 wager I would have preferred Rickie win obviously, but Rory deserves every bit of this. He's playing a different game than the rest of the field right now.

I shot 79 today...best scoring round in many years...the sad thing is I parred the front 9 and then limped home with a 43 on the back...

QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 09:45 AM) Should be a great Sunday at Valhalla. One of the better Sunday leaderboards at a major in a while, certainly in 2014 as Watson, Kaymer and McIlroy all had relatively easy Sunday victoriees I wish it would stop freaking raining

Tony Stewart purposefully ran someone over?

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 07:50 AM) I feel like the recklessness bar will be pretty high considering the guy ran toward a racecar on a race track. Not like it's an open street. It's going to raise some very interesting questions regarding the applications of normal legal concepts against the setting of a sporting event/contest. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 07:22 AM) Im not even saying it didn't happen that way, I just don't see anything clear cut from that little bit. I can't see the car until it is pretty much on top of his, so I can't tell if it does accelerate or not. All I can see is it get sideways when it hits the kid, probably from the kid dragging knocking the car to the side. The engine noise is tough to place in this shot. You don't think it is coincidental that his car accelerates at the same time we hear an engine throttle up, at the same time we see his car fishtail? -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 06:40 AM) The blue car went past and ALMOST hit him. That said, he (blue car) was able to keep his line much lower on the track, and there SHOULD have been enough time for him (Stewart) to correct his line. Forward vision is supposedly a non-issue in those types of sprint cars, according to those who drive them. It's the fact that he was CLEARLY upset with Stewart and shouting/screaming at him and that it was Stewart who actually hit him...just feels completely non-random. Nobody WANTS to believe it was intentional, and yet everyone understands the concept of "road rage" and the possibility he was trying to teach him a lesson or put him in his place and the situation just went out of control and he made a mistake and couldn't control his car (the fishtail) and its speed, although clearly witnesses believed he intentionally sped up or revved/gunned it. That and the fact that the race was under caution or yellow when it happened after the accident. He totally tried to scare him...let's not be naive....the other cars are slowing down and avoiding that area of the track, and then Stewart drives right towards him and guns the throttle. It was not entirely accidental. I do highly doubt he tried to actually hit him. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 05:29 AM) How can you tell it was on purpose? I finally brought myself to watch the video and can't tell if there is intent or not. The kid is walking in the middle of a car race. WTF. The one thing I noticed is the other car(s) seemed to really slow down once the guy was out of his car and on foot on the track. Then you see this other car come up much more quickly, and you can hear him rev his engine right as he passes him. I don't believe he "intentionally" hit him; I do believe he acted recklessly in trying to frighten him. They both used very poor judgment (too much testosterone) and now a kid is dead for it. -

Why the hell does the guy get out of his car and confront someone in a race car on a dirt track? -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 08:04 PM) Sounds like the vets played you like the new fish you are. Quite the leaderboard, tomorrow should be fun. We have a 11:30 tee time, should make it home in time to watch the end. I've got Rickie @12-1 for a small bet...I went out and played after he finished today...hoping to do the same tomorrow.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 07:48 PM) The last week has taken some of the momentum this team was building so far this season. It has highlighted all of the issues this 25 man roster has, and also makes 2015 seem like another rebuilding season. Far too many holes to fill with a severe lack of depth in the minors. We don't even know how to utilize the talent we have

What a day at the PGA Championship!

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 09:37 PM) I don't bet on golf. As soon as we did I folded Now imagine playing in front of tens of thousands in the gallery for a purse of $10 million....I read a book called Paper Tiger about a guy who spent a year trying to get his tour card...he actually made it to a +handicap but whenever he would play tournaments he'd shoot in the 80's or 90's. He started seeing a sports psychologist and described some of the concepts he shared with him. I've been trying to use them lately and it has helped quite a bit with my mental game. One thing that messes with my head though is when I'm walking the course and there are people in carts behind me. I can't stand the notion of holding people up, even if there is a group directly in front of me that I am waiting on. For whatever reason I just cannot concentrate.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 11:37 AM) I wrote they're wrong 70-80% of the time, that should have read they're RIGHT 70-80% of the time, but that means 20-30% of your message will often have incorrect words in it. I can ALWAYS tell when someone sends me a text via voice. I know what they were trying to say, but you can tell a computer wrote it. Did you make that post via voice?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 01:48 PM) Tiger at +7....still playing....no fake injuries yet. And I love how he pulls out the old man aching back routine only after he plays like s***. If you're really hurting, you shouldn't be trying to hit hybrids out of the rough on an uphill lie. Then he runs up after he hit it to see where it went, then when he sees it's another crappy shot, "oh, my back!" Whatever. The dude is a train wreck right now. Feherety mentioned he's not even limping properly

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 08:11 AM) Well, two things here. Your medical records at your doctor's office aren't going to have nearly the amount of data that some of these apps and devices track. Your doctor measures your blood pressure once or twice a year, not continuously. The other is that many of these devices and apps themselves have very poor security built into them, whereas you can be reasonably sure that electronic medical records are kept on a pretty secure system. Given enough time and resources, all security systems can be beaten, but my doctor isn't constantly spamming out medical information in clear text like some of these devices/apps are. Yeah, good points.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 08:01 AM) Your doctor probably keeps most of your information on paper. And it's not what is being stored electronically from the traditional sense, there is information flying everywhere to destinations you arent even aware of. Every time you take a FB quiz your personal info is being sent to over 20 different destinations including overseas. The exponential growth of your data when it leaves your hands from things like FaceBook is insane. The more you integrate personal info with those types of sites the more of an open book your life is becoming. Not for much longer. But yeah, I get what you are saying.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 07:54 AM) As someone who is in technology and security, I try to share the least amount of info possible on public internet. People are going to regret putting tons of stuff out there some day. The amount of data collected about you by third parties is shocking. I mean basically all data is going to be stored electronically these days...if someone really wants my info, they will hack into my doctor's servers just the same, won't they?
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 07:42 AM) And most of that data will be sent to a third party. I cant wait to see the auto FB posts about peoples blood pressure. Yeah, people already do it with their fuel bands...I'm pretty excited about it though...sounds like they are researching all kinds of crazy s***.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 07:27 AM) Most of these features are what I call show & tell features, and are limited/gimped at best. You'd need near perfect conditions for voice, and/or they require you to pull out your phone (which they already require you to carry) and use it anyway because the screen sizes are simply too small to do much of anything with. And from the looks of some of these, they're already reaching ridiculous "clock" like sizes where you're going to look like a complete idiot if you wear one. It's just not enough of an inconvenience to pull out your phone in the first place. What they COULD do, however, is tap into the fitness world... First and foremost, it needs to tell the time/date. Then, if it kept a log of heart rate, distances walked, perhaps blood pressure, body temperature, etc., it could be worth something at the right price. But getting limited messages or a tiny map on your wrist isn't going to cut it. You know full well Apple is already developing this...Apple has been hiring all kinds of medical experts, and even an executive from a fashion house as well as an exec from Tag Heuer. They're creating a watch that will track all sorts of health-related data, as well as doing all these other things a "smart watch" would do.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 06:29 PM) Just pointing out that you are doing it yet again. The whole thing sounded very familiar, just not quite as ridiculous as the first time. Not sure how the situations aren't similar. Twice in how many years, Krush? That is incredible logic.
