  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 8, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) ...what was that call on Boozer? Apparently a push off...all the sudden they started calling Western Conference fouls on us...
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2013 -> 12:05 PM) How long has it taken for guys like Tyler Flowers to be declared failures? How long did it take you to declare that Viciedo would never learn to hit? Axelrod didn't even get a chance to start before people wanted him replaced because he didn't throw hard enough. That doesn't really answer the question...
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2013 -> 12:01 PM) Look at the Sox attendance history. I am...
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2013 -> 11:53 AM) Does it really matter? If the perception keeps people away from the ballpark, that is all that really matters in terms of how the franchise can rebuild itself. The number one reason we haven't see a full rebuild for the White Sox is because the fan base won't support it. If Sox fans were more like Cub fans in the sense that they would support a few years of bad baseball, the organization could have more patience in a rebuild. Instead they are in the position where a rebuild on the fly is the only real option. Well I am not sure it really matters...the fan base isn't supporting much of anything now, to be honest...how much would the dropoff really be? I'm not advocating trading away everyone by any means, but is there anyone on this team that the fanbase really gives a s*** about other than Konerko?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2013 -> 11:46 AM) I know the one thing I keep thinking when I watch the commenters here is..."Boy, these guys would be so incredibly ready to allow a prospect to struggle for a couple years while they develop, their patience is christ-like." I don't really think this observation is accurate...what prospect did we not have patience with that has turned into some success story that we had all left for dead here?
  6. So no deal on the off the market home...guy had tenants and no way to get rid of them until the end of the year. A new house popped on the market over the weekend that we liked, so we have an offer in on that that we are trying to sort of slow play, because we finally got the sellers of the home that kept rejecting us to allow us to perform an appraisal to serve as the basis for negotiations...that is taking place right now...hoping to have the number by Monday or so...I'm dying to see what they come up with... Rock, what's going on with your search?
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 7, 2013 -> 01:32 PM) And if the dumbass is lucky, the breathalyzer doesn't register properly and they get away. I talked to a guy who was at a bar, had 4 beers and 4 Irish car bombs, drove home, and got pulled over for window tint. The officer had him blow and he blew a .072 and he got away clean. He was, if not drunk, quite intoxicated. On the flip side, I had a buddy who had 3 beers in 2 hours, got pulled over, and blew a .18. He was taken in to the hospital, they did bloodwork, and he came back at .057 or something. In both cases, I'm sure proper calibration of the breathalyzer puts the right guy behind bars and lets the other one go. (legal limit is .08 in ND) Yeah, and you can challenge the calibration by requesting the records of same, however, that in and of itself is getting you into the four figures for legal fees. I really sympathize with the victims because it is a horrible, horrible tragedy when it occurs, however, it really has become a municipal and state money grab, and it is way out of hand. I know I have argued this multiple times before here, but I just think it is quite hypocritical to breed a culture based around so much alcohol, and then turn around and use drinking and driving as basically a municipal and state fundraiser. I think the breathalzer in the vehicle is a great start.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ May 7, 2013 -> 11:22 AM) Wellp, I'm preparing for an LBJ 40pt first half. If we are within 10 after 3 I'll start feeling confident. Yeah, I agree...I expect him to come out and set the tone next game, because I honestly don't believe Wade can with his knee issues. If I'm the Bulls, I am putting my fastest pressure defender on Wade and trying to take him out of the game. He looks like a shell of his former self right now.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ May 7, 2013 -> 09:52 AM) Speaking of conceding the outside shot. OHHHH MAN did I love how tight Jimmy would play lebron at the 3 point line. That is trusting your help D. I don't want to detract from the job he did on LeBron last night, because it was excellent, but I didn't get the feeling that LeBron really wanted to exert much energy in the first 3 quarters...he was really laying back and looking for the open wing players. Jimmy did manage to cause LeBron to miss some finishes around the basket (I think LeBron was 1/6 in the first half), but I really anticipate LeBron coming a lot stronger in game 2 and using his strength to take Butler near the basket.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2013 -> 08:42 AM) He is also 6'8" with a 7 foot+ wing span. Giving me one game two years ago doesn't really prove anything. I can also point to LeBron shutting down Derrick Rose as "proof". Yeah, if Nate is able to hit from the outside, no big man is going to be able to shut him down, not even LeBron...but if LBJ wants to shut him down from going to the basket, he can recover even if he gets burned with his length.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ May 7, 2013 -> 07:42 AM) I just think it will take a lot of capital investment they don't have the market confidence to make. Their stores are too big to change, same for Sears. It's a lot easier for Gap/J Crew/etc to pivot and start this more fashion oriented trend. Hell, sears Lands End Canvas actually has really nice stuff, but you have to walk through 4 miles of generic brands to get there. It's hard to move toward these trends of retail as curators and clear style. Just too much space. I dunno...they have made quite a bit of capital investment already and failed. They have been trying to rebrand for a long time with little success. I think a large part of that is my generation always viewed JCPenny as cheap and lame, so we don't shop there as adults unless we are forced to. But for whatever reason, Kohl's manages to run a pretty similar business without that same stigma attached. I think the stores selling the cheaper, lower quality goods tend to do better when they just sort of admit who they are rather than try to dress up their product as something that it is simply not.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ May 7, 2013 -> 07:13 AM) Woke up and the Bulls still won. I think what amazes me most about Jimmy's performance is during breaks you could see him looking a bit tired. What I'd expect them is him to start missing his FTs and jumpers. Nope. I feel like he was perfect FG% in the fourth, including that huge 3 (which by the way, are much less flat than they used to be). Lebron still took Jimmy easily on about 25% of his drives, but he strangely didn't try Bellinelli that much. I'd expect that to change. Belli did a great job defending Lebron and staying in good position, but Lebron can still beat him a good amount if he tried. (Of course, part of that is our help D being so good last night Lebron knew he'd get mugged if he beat our guards) You know the Heat and LeBron's strategy was for him to get his teammate's involved, and then take over the 4th quarter while they dialed up their defense and shut us down. Thing is, while LeBron has shifted to Rose in the 4th quarters and shut him down, they had no real answer for Nate. I expect LeBron to be a bit more aggressive in the next game instead of waiting til the 4th quarter.
  13. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 7, 2013 -> 07:34 AM) I couldn't tell you the last time I went into JC Pennys. There's one about a mile from my house that I never even remember is there. Old and gross sounds about right. I think their brand is irreparably damaged..
  14. Yeah, the field sobriety test is pretty much entirely discriminatory. They should just go right to the breath test...and skip the field sobriety test altogether.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 6, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) Nothing better than to see a Bulls victory after 3 long grueling hours in a final exam. How'd it go?
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2013 -> 07:38 PM) So the Bulls beat the Heat tonight... Nicely done.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 6, 2013 -> 05:14 PM) So, Nate headed out for now. Any time Derrick. Any f***ing time. I'm not sure how you could be an athlete with any desire to compete and not be out there...I'd be taking off my suit and changing into my uniform right there on the bench if I was watching my teammates play like this...I just cannot imagine how he can do this...
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ May 6, 2013 -> 10:55 AM) Disagree. I don't think they are either...probably more worried about the Bulls than anyone else in the East. But matchups against the Bulls and Pacers could potentially beat them up physically a bit, which might make them a bit vulnerable against a physical team in the West such as Memphis.
  19. So what are the judges so afraid of? I didn't read those cases, but usually when they are defying simple logic it is because of something else they are trying to protect...let's assume that they allow defendants to pay for their own dna testing in an attempt to exonerate themselves...it logically follows then that those who cannot pay will demand the same right, paid for by the state...the government would be hard-pressed to deny that right, considering the current right to an attorney, etc. Now all the sudden every convicted felon is demanding dna testing and their attorneys are challenging the chain of custody and all that, etc., etc...this is the only logical explanation I can think of for their refusal.

    2013 TV Thread

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 5, 2013 -> 02:03 PM) The finale for The Americans was awesome. Great first season. I agree...I am a big fan...
  21. And just to add to that...the Heat will now get beaten up a bit by the Bulls, then beaten up again by Indiana...I'll just say that if Memphis can get themselves into the Finals, they could take advantage of a Heat team that is limping by that time.
  22. He's been a lot better thus far this year than last...as a whole, I think it is fair to say that Addison never makes it easy...how many times does he get a 1-2-3 inning?
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 6, 2013 -> 08:22 AM) The Bulls arent gonna win this series, but I know the Heat werent happy to find out they were going to be playing the Bulls as opposed to the Nets. There will be a lot of post game ice baths for both sides Yeah, I was thinking that this morning as I drove in to work...you know the Heat would have much rather played the Nets...Now they have to deal with a much more physical series and the (albeit remote) possibility of Rose coming back...if they win this series, they were supposed to, if they lose, it's a huge upset and their legacy gets tarnished again.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2013 -> 02:57 PM) Agreed. Not even really upset, what's the point? All last season, these games would have been killers, especially the ones against KC. Now, they're just more evidence of a crumbling organization that's being passed while essentially standing still. When you're something like 4-8 in your own division without even facing the Tigers, what do you expect? I don't know how you could see the young guys on this team and say the Org is crumbling. I actually feel better long term about the health of the franchise than in a few years...this is just a down cycle...but we can get back soon if we make a few solid moves and have a few solid drafts.
