  1. I think Kyle is f***ing bats*** crazy....so I'd like to do whiskey shots with him over peyote.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) I'd be willing to bet that if there were any offers for Danks that were close to reasonable or solid, they'd have moved him. I also don't think anyone was willing to give up more than a Zach Stewart level for a pitcher 1 year away from free agency. I don't know about that, but I do agree with you in principle..I don't think any of the offers were blowing Kenny away. So instead of dealing with the circus of whether to sign him or trade him this season, they just signed him. I can live with that.
  3. I view John and Mark as almost the same pitcher. In that situation, I will always choose the younger one over the older one. The first 1/3 of the year in the first season of this decision, it looks like we may have been wrong. I am sure there are other 1/3's of seasons where it will look like we were clearly right. I'd have let them both go, however. I would have dealt John and let Mark walk.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) The Sox would have been much better off having Stewart start today, especially given the Cubs' struggles against LHP. Instead, you're using a terrible Sunday lineup followed by having Stewart face Garza tomorrow. Hopefully not a recipe for 2 losses in a row. No, I think we should start Buehrle, not Cotts.
  5. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:10 AM) That has to be the best job in sports. But a really terrifying job if you screw up a key snap (like that dude on the Giants a few years ago in the playoffs. Against the Pats, I think). Yes, but easier to perform than the actual field goals.
  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 07:16 AM) And yes, Adam was there too. Aww man...imagine being out for a night with Charlie and Jake...the stories you hear about Sheen out here are incredible...just f***ing insane.
  7. So I feel like yesterday made up a bit for Friday night, but we definitely need the Feathered to slap these pretty boys around with his bloody penis today. Maybe Vin Scully will talk about Quetzacoatl's legend during the game today.
  8. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 10:20 PM) Haha probably. I don't hate on Pablo Honey as much as most people, but The Bends is definitely my favorite album. It's an absolutely fantastic record. Agreed on the Bends. One of the best albums of the 90's.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) No thanks to Chone if Sox are being forced to pay anything but the minimum for him. Yeah, I doubt he would do anything more than Flo-Rida at this point...and I think we are seeing some slow, but steady improvement from him.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:21 AM) You know what worries me? Figgins. That is someone that KW has had on his list for a while. Good point...they'd have to pay a s***load of his salary...he's making $9M this year, $8M next year, and has an option for $9M in '14 that vests if he reaches 600 PA in 2013. I'd say they'd basically have to give us $10 million and take back Brent Lillibridge or something.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:20 AM) I am uncomfortable discussing this with you I was going to suggest we give them to Humber and Floyd...
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:14 AM) Alex Liddi plays SS and 3B, but he's not seriously considered a top prospect. Seager at one point this season (and maybe recently) was the hottest hitter in Seattle's line-up, and placed 3rd in the batting order. So it probably does mean that the likelihood of prying him away would be very minimal. He's cooled-off considerably...he's a .765 OPS player or so, but he's a smart young hitter and a very solid defender.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) Who is waiting to take his place. That italian kid? Or is he at another position? I thought he was supposed to be a 3b Dunno...they could always put Figgins there so that he is actually playing. At this point for them, they should be trying to keep the "core" guys as you mentioned, and trading any other assets where they think they will show a net improvement in the next several years on. What they put on the field this year should not particularly matter. I'm sure they'd want Viciedo. I'd counter with Mitchell, throw in Morel, then you'd probably have to give up one of the SP spects we just got this offseason, and maybe even low-level offensive player.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) Seager did look like a good young player, but you have to wonder if he is someone that Seattle wants to keep as a core guy or not. Caulfield mentioned Encarnacion, that is another guy who could fit the bill, but he has had some injury issues as well as attitude issues his entire career. The problem here is KW has no leverage. The league knows that 3b is killing the Sox. They are going to use that in any negotiation. Encarnacion is nicknamed E-5. I want no part of him. We don't need a big bat there, we someone who can consistently put the ball in play and make all the plays on defense. Seager hasn't ever lit it up in the minor leagues, and so I think he's surprising a bit with what he is doing now. Although Seattle is a pretty data-intensive organization right now, so my guess is they have a pretty good idea just how valuable he has been, and would be hesitant to move him. That being said, he is not such a thoroughbred of a prospect that they wouldn't consider doing it if they thought they were improving their ballclub.
  15. Obviously Seattle is rebuilding and thus is going to be hesitant to trade any young players, but they have shown a willingness to trade young player for young player. I'd be curious what their demands would be for Kyle Seager....one of the better all-around 3b in baseball this year.
  16. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) What's with AJ throwing his bat in the dugout -- twice? He's got a raging case of pms
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) He's too skilled to be trying to flip the ball to right field. Similar to Morel, you just want to see Rios swing hard and try to pull the ball/go up the middle. It has brought me great joy to see him turn his career back around.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) Mercy Rios! It seems as though he heard your request the other night.
  19. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) Is Vinny the old dude? Cause this guy is very, very old. Oh Tito...
  20. I would not have done that with Alex on fire, but I would have been ticked had we gidp too.
  21. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) Paulie has NEVER had a sac bunt?? Are you watching Vinny?
