  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) Serious questions: 1. Name a team and their 3b who would want floyd. Are you talking Youkilis? I'll admit, I'm starting to warm more to that idea, but still don't like it much. 2. How many more bad starts will it be before teams decide that Floyd is busting and might not be a good acquisition? Good questions...dunno...you know if Floyd was available, we would probably interested... If the Yankees made Phil Hughes available, we would probably be interested....not saying Hughes doesn't have more worth than Floyd...but I think they have similar types of issues. Hopefully the start he made Friday shows he still is capable of some nasty stuff...and that the other issues can be fixed...
  2. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) And if Viciedo is the centerpiece, KW should say no thanks and hang up the phone. What do you expect them to ask for? If you were a Mets fan, would you want a freaking reliever to be the centerpiece in a deal to trade away the face of your franchise? The Mets tried to negotiate a new deal with Wright, most likely to get a feel for how much he was willing to stay...he told them he wasn't going to negotiate with them in the middle of the season. What will probably happen is the Mets will approach him and say "Look, we're getting all kinds of offers for you here. We need to know what your commitment is to this franchise. What are your parameters for a new deal?" He'll either then give them something they like, and they will consider keeping him, or he will give them something they don't, and they'll look to move him. Either way, with the departure of Jose Reyes last year, they fanbase is going to want to see quite a haul for him if they move him. I don't see the Wright situation being anywhere close to the Greinke situation. The Mets are probably going to require something like Dayan AND Reed or Jones, and then want other high upside low-ball players to go along with them. Even if we could pay the salary, I'm just not sure that is in the cards.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 11:45 AM) The biggest problem with looking to be major buyers at the deadline is that our 3 biggest pieces are Reed, Sale, and Viciedo, and teams aren't likely to give up a Greinke without asking for one of those, given our system. Unless the Brewers are in love with Mitchell and pull a Kenny Williams in giving up Greinke for a guy they love, we're going to have to be content with small scale upgrades. It will definitely be a big decision. Sale is by far worth more than Greinke already, so he's obviously off the table. Reed and another piece is the type of deal I could see them asking for...or Viciedo and a slightly lesser piece. Keep in mind you are only getting this guy for a half season. One deal I could see happening is something like Nate Jones and Mitchell for him.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 11:24 AM) This is still a club that is trying to build for the future. Giving any non-veteran away is crazy and short sighted...I'll be disappointed if we do it. We need to be adding young players/prospects, not subtracting them. I'm not so sure about that...with the way Rios/Dunn/Peavy are playing right now, we should be playing for now...building for the future was based on those three not performing...now they are...so the future is now.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 08:44 AM) We're not getting Zack Greinke...dream on. Can you imagine our rotation with him? Holy fing f***. We just don't have the farm system to do it. I dunno about that...you'd only be getting him for about 20 starts or so... I'm sure they'd be asking for Dayan Viciedo + though.
  6. That bs strike to Flowers on 1-1 hurt us there...could easily be 11-10...with no outs
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) Problem is these pitchers Sox have not seen usually seem to end up getting a win against the Sox last 10 years. We'll get to him
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 01:44 PM) Most of the camera wells are offset to the right of the pitcher (left field) by a little ways. At Target Field, they centered it. But, you can't Center it without having the pitcher's head between the camera and the plate, so they had to elevate it a little bit. Yeah.... And that ruins the angle of the pitch for the viewer...it's terrible
  9. What were they thinking when they built the camera wells for the home plate shots in Target Field?
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) 2-0, time to relax Agreed. I can never understand how one can watch so many baseball games and not understand that this is how the game works.
  11. Hawk not pleased that Harrell just made us look foolish.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 11:48 AM) Hickory Huskers dropped the ball, but the gamethread must go on! Go Sox!! Maybe he was confused by Tmar.
  13. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) To be the "most asked about" implies nothing about what was offered (could have been very little from multiple teams) and to say he's "most asked about" White Sox sadly tells more about our offseason state of affairs than anything it says about Lilli. Any trade value BL had we've now destroyed by 1) putting him in a position where it is very difficult to succeed; and 2) rewarding a somewhat "breakout" season of his by playing him even less. This isn't to say Brent doesn't shoulder some of the blame himself...he's feeling sorry for himself and trying to hit home runs most of his PAs to convince the coaching staff he should be getting more starts or to become so valuable that we have to move him elsewhere (which we probably should have done last offseason). His swing is quite long again.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 08:34 AM) Here's the video for those who don't want to queue up the entire movie. Obviously NSFW If you don't think I looked that s*** up about two episodes into her appearance on Mad Men, you're bats*** crazy!
  15. I'm hoping Ale' gets on that all-star final vote...he's probably been one of the best 10-15 hitters in the AL, if you consider his all-around body of work.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) Did Jordan get another hit? I need to stop changing the channel. Or perhaps this just means Jordan only gets hits when I'm not watching. I love love love Ale'...he is such a stud
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 03:46 PM) We do that every game though...don't we? Lately I don't need whiskey to fall asleep after watching us play
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) You think every time Sale finishes a full game, Herm goes out and takes a shot of jack? And Chris's agent.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) You think every time Sale finishes a full game, Herm goes out and takes a shot of jack? And you...and me...and lots of other fans
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) You think every time Sale finishes a full game, Herm goes out and takes a shot of jack? Kenny too
  21. I can't believe we almost missed seeing these last three starts...
