  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 04:55 PM) LOL, well, that wasn't a screen shot from MY device, just an example of the keyboard. But "girrlkitty" would be a pretty sweet name. Well, I do know you love cats...
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 02:45 PM) Heh, installed an alternate keyboard (Swiftkey tablet) on the Nook Tablet. It's pretty much customized exactly how I want now. Nice keyboard for tablet since I'm a thumb typist. What do you call that Nook tablet of yours?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 12:07 PM) You couldn't touch them at that point, (5 yard chuck rule) at least until the deflection actually occurred, and by then it is too late. Well, to be fair, you can pretty much rape people in the end zone on Hail Mary's. I don't think I have ever seen a pass interference call made in that situation.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) NSFWS Kyle, you weren't kidding. That being said, I'd still bet you if you went and got a big bag of turkey necks and gave them each one every day you'd see a marked improvement in 1-2 months.

QUOTE (G&T @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 06:05 PM) My dog gets Wellness brand. Probably about the same price. The vet we go to approves. Do your own research...the vets are full of s***.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 04:07 PM) i could be a total smartass and tell you to read the beginning of the thread Golden Retrievers Ahh, that's right. Well, all I'll say is this...I firmly believe you can recoup veterinarian costs by investing more in diet. The better ingredients in your dog's food, the less annoying issues that creep up and require veterinarian attention.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) Iamshack, what are your thoughts on that BLUE Buffalo dog food? Saw a commercial for it today, and assuming it's not ridiculously expensive, that might be an option. It's pretty solid...the breeder that I got my Blur from had him on Blue Buffalo before I convinced her to switch to a brand called Precise, but it depends on breed. What kind of dogs do you have, Joe?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) It's just a small round tablet. I'm thinking that will be the next attempt, crush it up then mix it with peanut butter or something. Luckily, my silly dog thinks they are candy and eats them willingly...

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) Anybody have any tricks on how to get a dog to swallow a pill? We have tried putting it in food like cheese, but he just eats the food and spits out the pill. What kind of pill is it? Can you crush it up and put the powder in the food?
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) I've seen him dig into both parties. I really don't think he's distinctly Republican or Democrat, as I said, I think he's more like a libertarian. As for that ad, I don't really see a message that is pro either party. But it was a pretty good ad. Chrysler may have spent the last decade making s***ty cars, but I have to admit, their ads the past year or two have been fantastic. I like them too...especially the ads for the 300 with the Jay-Z remix of Heart of A City...and I dig the 300, but I just wish they would realize their logo/badge looks cheap.
  11. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) screw that. keep your supermodel mouth shut. Someone needs to say it...sometimes it takes someone on the outside of the forest to point out the obvious.
  12. Watched Moneyball, Paranormal Activity 3, and The Killer Elite this weekend...thought Moneyball was well done, considering the audience. Both Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill did a nice job. PA3 was scary but more of the same stuff...although I guess the kids angle in this one made it a little more creepy for me. The Killer Elite was fun and I always enjoy Clive Owen and DeNiro, but it was a bit confusing. I did think they did a fairly awesome job of finding some mint 1980 british cars though

Because you don't need to...you can bring them back just fine by starting with the bones now...I've read all kinds of stories about dogs' teeth coming back to healthy condition just by changing their diet/giving them raw/meaty bones.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) Yea I'll be living at home for the first few months so that I can save up some money for an MBA, so I won't have to get acclimated or anything, I can just jump right into it again. I really wish I could travel but when I graduate I may have enough for a domestic trip but not an international one (which is what I want to do again). Also, for those that worked for the Big 4 accounting firms, I know Chisoxfn currently is and or at least started at one (Deloitte I believe?), why can't the starting salary be negotiated at all? One of my roommates interned at one in Chicago and got the highest grades of any intern there, and was personally recruited by the NY audit partner to go work for him there but he was only offered a 2k increase in salary, with no relocation package or bonus. This seems ridiculous as the cost of living can be up to 40% more in NYC compared to Chicago, so I had him send the company an email asking for more money or at least some support to move out there. They declined and he just took the Chicago offer instead. It just seems ridiculous for them to do that. That is crazy. I know when I was working in the legal field the law firms definitely will pony up for the increased cost of living and relocation and all that...especially if you are one of the "golden boys." Maybe it's just something they are cutting back on for the time being...

    Art

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) It's mostly bulls*** (the newer/modern stuff, that is)...and here is proof. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-49...-paintings.html ^^ LOL is all. Don't get me wrong...my take on art is if you like it, and it speaks to you, by all means, go for it. I don't have a problem with people enjoying art on their walls. But when people start believing that their opinions are more worthwhile because they "know" art, that's when my bs meter goes into overdrive. Secondly, I was ticked that she wouldn't let me try to negotiate some of the prices. There were a variety of pieces she liked, ranging between $800 and $1200 for the most part. She was having trouble deciding between a few, so I asked her to let me try and negotiate the purchase of one of the $800 pieces and one of the $1200 pieces for a total of $1500. I wasn't going to do this in the middle of the gallery with everyone watching, but in private. I figured the guy might like to sell two paintings rather than just one painting. She was aghast that I would make such a suggestion, because, to try to negotiate a price would be me "belittling the artist's efforts." If I offered less for the painting than it was priced at, then I would be suggesting that his talents were worth less than he believed to be so. I said "welcome to the real world." She was not pleased. She ended up just buying one of the $800 works. Great. But at the end of the exhibition, when the guy still has 6 works that did not sell, perhaps he would have rather had the $1500 instead, and one less work. I guess we'll never know.
  18. I've avoided all media since the Conference Championships in an effort to avoid being swayed in one direction or the other. However, I do feel as though I am a bit swayed by the last time these two teams met in the Super Bowl. I normally would be a Pats buyer, but I can't get over the similarities of this matchup to the previous one. Giants 27, Pats 24.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 09:20 AM) LOL, its a veterinary Dentist. They have one on staff, so i just make an appt to get it done, so I am gonna have it done by the end of the month. The doc wanted us to let her get acclimated before we do it, so she doesnt get too freaked out. I would take a picture of the plaque and post it, but it is seriously disgusting. I dont know what they fed this dog, but I am guessing it wasnt top of the line food, ever. And add to the fact that she seemingly had multiple litters of puppies, that is a huge drain on the vitamins the dog needs to stay healthy, so it is showing in the teeth/gumline. Dogs do not have the enzymes in their saliva to properly break down grain products, which is where a lot of these problems stem from. This is just one of many reasons why not to feed your dog grain-based foods or TREATS. What they don't swallow sticks to their teeth and decays them, causing bad breath. Bones will automatically clean a dog's teeth. And when I say bones, I don't mean a grain-based product in the shape of a dog bone. By bone I mean the skeletal remains of a carbon-based organism. Give your dog a raw bone, or a raw, meaty bone to chew on from time to time. This will clean their teeth and provide mental stimulation as well as emotional satisfaction for your dog. Best of all, you will rarely, if ever, have to clean his teeth.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 4, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) I don't know the first thing about art, but I really enjoyed the modern art Smithsonian museum. Some pieces made me think "wft? this isn't 'art'" while others were really impressive. And that's a great reaction...I enjoy art...I do...but what bothers me is that some people think that they know the correct way to speak about it...implying that there is a "right" and a "wrong" way, or perhaps, a "sophisticated" and an "unsophisticated" way.

Or is everyone just bulls***ting? I went to an art gallery last night with the girlfriend. She wanted to see some work by her favorite artist, Luke Chueh, and a new artist she has interest in, Juan Muniz. Oh boy, did I learn that I am not cut out for the fine arts world...apparently I was embarrassing her because I thought all the people there were bulls***ters and I thought the pricing on the art was outrageous as well as negotiable. These people were making all these ridiculously nonsensical bs comments about the artists "Ohhh, their personalities are sooo similar...they are both such fun guys...." BLAH BLAH BLAH, fork over your money... Anyways, I think this will be the last time I accompany her to the art gallery.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) just put the effort into making sure you know it is coming from a good breeder if you are going that way. Absolutely. Unfortunately, with the explosion of certain breeds (read Chihuahuas and PitBulls), backyard breeders pop up and attempt to produce as many pups as possible in the shortest amount of time in order to extract the most profit possible. This is NOT the way or the people to buy a purebred dog from. When selecting a breeder, you should research research research. Look at lineages or pedigrees, ask questions, ask to see their home, where the pup was weened, the pup's parents, etc. The best breeders will be just as inquisitive about you as you should be about them, and not willing to just sell you a pup because you are willing to pay them their asking price.
