  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) Damnit. I would have taken Alonso and Grandal alone for Danks.. I think many people would have taken one of them for Danks.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 12:32 PM) Volquez is in the deal as well. EDIT: Holy s***, they got Grandal too. Reds acquire SD’s Mat Latos for Yonder Alonso, Brad Boxberger, Yasmani Grandal and Edinson Volquez. WTF were they thinking?
  3. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) The Danks trade is interesting trade-not to bad. The one thing I don't like about any of these offers-is there isn't a guarenteed lock of a prospect that will pan out in major league roster. A lot of risk in all of these trades. Not a fan of the Quentin Deal-not sold at all on Medlin how many 5-10 starters pan out with starters workload. I like Peacock a lot...but there are far too many relief prospects in that rundown than I think are necessary.
  4. Ahh thanks. I think someone posted that in the catch-all as well.
  5. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) Bowden just wrote this on ESPN. http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/the-gms-of...entin-and-danks What is the gist for those of us that are not insiders?
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) My worry is...who hits the market next? We're not out of time yet...but we're getting closer to that point...and we have not just got Danks to move, but also bats, Floyd, Thornton... I would think after either Gio goes, or BB frustrates someone with his demands, Danks or Floyd will go next...
  7. I think you guys are forgetting the timing of all this though...now that the A's have put their young starters on the market, which are further away from FA, Kenny has to allow BB to trade them or pull them off the market, because teams are going to try to acquire Gio (and previously Cahill) for the same or a similar package as they would offer for Danks.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 09:13 AM) Although it might be nice to do so...if they're going to put a solid offer on the table for Danks, we aren't in a position to be jerks out of spite, we need the solid offer too much. All kidding aside, I would be willing to bet Kenny will ask for Peacock and Rendon, and then when they balk on Renden, we'll end up settling for Norris and Lombardozzi or something.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) Ha, I was thinking the same thing. If I were Kenny I would absolutely flip the table on Rizzo and treat him the same way Actually, I would sucker him along and make it seem like I would do Peacock and another midlevel spect, and then right after all the other top targets change hands, I would say...I think I might need another piece....we're going to need one of either Harper or Strasburg...
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 09:04 AM) I remember hearing about some kid named Harper?? Kenny should demand Strasburg and Harper just to give Rizzo a giant F-U.
  11. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 08:53 AM) What do the Nationals have in the way of prospects? Anybody that would be a nice get for Danks? I don't know a lot of names in particular, but they have made it a priority to rebuild their system in the last three years. My guess is our #1 target would be Brad Peacock, although I am not sure why they would want to trade him for Danksy. I am not sure why they are even interested in Danksy, to be honest, unless they believe they would have a better chance of signing a premier FA by acquiring him via trade and then re-signing him prior to him hitting FA.
  12. Started P90X2 today with the core workout...significantly more athletic moves required...definitely a higher level of balance and agility necessary. One thing that is an awesome product is the Rumble Roller....what a great piece of equipment. I'd advise anyone who works out often to pick one up.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 01:27 PM) MattSpiegel670 Matt Spiegel 670 The Score also learned:they have a list of NFL players who got their drugs from Sam Hurd, and it's in the double digits. Maybe one of them is Aaron Rodgers
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) Wow, that's a decent amount of coke. And just a little bit of weed!
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) Bob Love came to my grade school! This is the extent of my Bob Love knowledge. Bob is an awesome dude...I had a friend who was tight with him back in the glory days...he got my friend and I into the Bulls locker room during the 72-10 season...we met MJ and Scottie, and my friend got a paid of Ron Harper's shoes that said 34-3 on them (their record after beating the Pistons that day). He told everyone we were "school kids" he knew from his work with the Bulls, even though we were like 18 at the time
  16. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 13, 2011 -> 04:57 PM) It's funny, all guys like Kyle Orton and Grossman did were "win" for a while, but got 0 credit because everyone could see they sucked. But Teblow is the rare case where his teams defense is playing exponentially better over the course of this "miracle" run + a game like the Bears where he literally had no impact on the victory...yet he gets praised like the 2nd coming. Religion does funny things to logic Well let's not take everything away from the guy. He's a hell of an athlete, he does have a very high competitive desire to win, and he does manage to make big plays in the 4th quarter when his team needs them. He does seem to forget about technique and mechanics in the 4th quarter, and just let his talent take over. That may indeed allow him to play more freely or with less mistakes towards the end of the game. Part of the allure is also that he brings such a different attitude to the position because it is required for his survival. Tony Siragusa said something during the game Sunday like "It's just so refreshing to see a quarterback run and not slide." Now obviously, that is uncommon because it's been anecdotally proven that a quarterback won't be able to stay healthy in the long run that way (Mike Vick), but because Tebow has no other choice (sliding is a luxury he does not have), the public enjoys watching him take on linebackers and making a mockery of DLineman chasing him behind the line of scrimmage. The real key for me will be how does the public treat him in 3-5 years when he is just a memory of an exciting player from 2011-2012.
  17. Rock, have you read the Steve Jobs biography yet?
  18. QUOTE (Espy.Teahen @ Dec 13, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) You are saying that as if there's a fine line between insulting and praising. He could have said nothing at all. He does a weekly interview on Jim Gray's pregame Monday Night Football radio show. He's extremely well-versed in PR, he gets the questions in advance, and the interview is taped and then edited. There is simply no way he would have refused to compliment TT.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 13, 2011 -> 07:31 AM) ipad 2 Q. I'm oblivious, so don't laugh, but do you have to pay for the 3G network? I don't think I would need it with wifi in my house but was curious. If you already have an iPhone with a 3G plan, can you apply it to that? You have to start a data plan if you want 3G. It's $20 or 30 a month, and I believe they allow you to cancel at any time. What you can do is just use your WiFi signal and download anything you need before you leave, such as movies, books, etc., and then just use your phone if you really need to check someone on the internet or see an email, etc. I didn't see the need to have redundancy since I always carry my phone with me. I just try to anticipate when I will want something on my iPad before I take it somewhere where there will not be a WiFi signal available.
  20. I still have no clue what the God particle even is.
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 11:55 PM) Incredible beyond words. I'm already preparing myself for the impact on my daily life...
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 13, 2011 -> 12:28 AM) I can think of no reason not to. I'm just disappointed JR is too cheap to step-in like he did with PK. My friends and I are all sitting around with a few brewskis wondering where it all went wrong.
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 11:42 PM) No, the comment would be about how all of these players are tripping all over themselves for the opportunity to play for Ozzie. Well why wouldn't they? OZ is the most fun manager in the game.
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) Didn't know it was possible to hate a team with Aaron Rowand and Mark Buehrle on it but yup...Ozzie is that special. I'm actually looking forward to watching the Marlins a lot next year, since I buy Extra Innings to follow the Sox. Should be quite entertaining.
