QUOTE (OklahomaBrave @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 08:57 PM) Can't argue that. Eloy/Robles/Acuna in any order I believe are the best three OF prospects in the game. I like both Eloy and Acuna best, personally as I think they have better offensive potential. Nevertheless, Eloy is a clear tier above Tucker, and is a hell of a centerpiece if this somehow is true. I kind of hope it is, because it would be the most ridiculous news break I've seen, although I'd hate to miss out on Q. Maybe the Cubs just properly rate him. He's definitely a stud and is significantly better than Teheran, our "defacto Ace". You are a gentleman and a scholar. Teheran has shown some life as of late. I suspect he will bring back plenty of value should you choose to move him in the offseason or next deadline.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 08:30 PM) Could be the same guy saying both. Wetbutt23 and @Danb2310 would conceivably be the same source

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 08:30 PM) Could be the same guy saying both. Yeah, I guess I was trying to identify the reddit guy.

@danb2310 has basically the same tweet...same language..."no pros," which I found unique

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 08:20 PM) The reddit user's source just commented on the post, and I bet you were hoping for this one too. Pretty sure I saw this on twitter earlier...

QUOTE (OklahomaBrave @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 07:49 PM) I saw Enscheffs posts, he is a regular at talking chop where I post. And I posted here frequently all offseason, and started reading here daily again about a week or so ago. Side note, I like your board! Homerism is present for all fans of all teams of course, but I feel as though you have a really reasonable well informed fan base. I don't really agree that the Braves follow the surplus value model Enscheff presented, so I don't personally agree with that reasoning, although his logic is sound and well presented. I said back in the offseason I didn't think the Braves would trade Acuna or Maitan. I think that is more true now than it was this offseason. I think they would trade any pitcher, and even though the Whitesox have great young pitchers, they could use a top shelf lefty. Allard is our best pitching prospect, but I think he could be had. I believe he's better, and held in higher regard than Newcomb, even though the later is in our rotation. I do think they would trade Albies. I know Ensheff doesn't like him, but Austin Riley is a legit prospect and could be trade fodder as well. He has real plus power and many scouts are enthused about his improving body and defensive work. He also has a cannon. He's probably in the 120-150 range for many listers. People with sources I've talked to seem to think we'd prefer to trade Allard to Soroka, which I disagree with, but whatever. I'd be surprised if they gave up both Allard AND Albies since they are both too 25ish guys. For those mentioning Pache, if he were the third piece, be psyched. Wait until Longerhans at FG's list is published, he LOVES Pache, and I believe him to be the best public evaluator. I'd hate to lose Pache, but I believe they'd include him. The Braves will trade anyone from depth. We have a ton of pitching and a good amount of MI. Our outfield depth is ok enough we can lose Pache. Well done! I hope to have you continue to lurk as long as you'd like!

QUOTE (OklahomaBrave @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 07:25 PM) Braves fan here, been following Quintana trade possibilities for awhile. I got the notification from Rosenthal as well. Saw the piece about an unexpected trade looming. Didn't see team or players named. Of course it was deleted instantly. OB, I remember you from before. A fellow Braves fan of yours checked in earlier...do you agree with his thoughts about the Braves' reluctance to move any of their top bats?

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 07:20 PM) Yeah. His first Facebook post was really interesting. The Marlins-Phillies piece?

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 07:08 PM) I cease to believe this. Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Wow, he actually said the deal was made...

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 07:02 PM) He deleted it so nobody can see it. Apparently it was a few minutes ago but no screenshots have emerged yet. The commentary by fans though? Basically, where are you reading this?

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 06:16 PM) Agreed that both of them seems like too much for Gray. Verlander too (and I really hope Detroit doesn't end up with Eloy). Only one that really makes sense of the commonly rumored names is Archer, but it would make no sense for the Rays to sell him right now. But I also have a really hard time seeing the Cubs trading for Quintana. Who else is worth giving up Eloy and is on the market? Maybe it's a guy like DeGrom that comes out of nowhere. Both Eloy and Cease being out of tonight's game almost seems like too much of a coincidence. Good point....I had forgotten about Archer. Fathom brings up Stroman and Fulmer. I guess you never know...

2017-18 official NBA discussion thread

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) The trade was completely stupid but the legend of Jordan Bell is pretty crazy already. I'd be willing to bet you a keg of beer he becomes a pretty nice NBA player...starter or 6th man type. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) Q was nearly a 5 war player for 3 straight years. this year, even in an "off" year, it will be 3.5 and probably close to 4. Sonny Gray has never had a year anywhere close to any of Q's 2014-2016. Cole has had 1. Tehran has had none - in fact, Tehran's best year won't be as good as Q's 2017. He nets a top prospect or the equivalent. As for the Cubs, no problem here as long as the Sox due it on the Sox terms. Sox don't need a DH at this point. For that kind of return (Jimenez and Cease), one would think it has to be coincidence, Q, or someone who has not been discussed as being available. If Gray were to command that package, I suspect we majorly f***ed up, or else we are going to be very pleased at some point in the next few weeks.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 05:28 PM) I was of that belief at one point.

I actually think Q is the perfect player to sort of break through this notion that the two Chicago teams could not complete a significant deal. While there is no minimizing the fact that the Cubs' prospects coming our way could have the potential to turn into valuable major leaguers, Quintana himself is such a quiet, steady professional. He doesn't strike me as the type of guy that would irritate Sox fans pitching for the Cubs.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 05:24 PM) Somewhere in this thread or on twitter he said that's the case ( not dealing ) I thought so, but I figured maybe the situation was fluid

Rabbit, Are you of the belief that we would never deal Q to the North side?

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 03:57 PM) Not my preferred time to trade Rodon, coming off an injury and a few starts. No, I get it...but despite some of his struggles, I'm sure he excites some FO's in ways Q does not.
-
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 03:52 PM) He will at some point, he won't be extended and he will hit free agency right in the middle of the contention window. If he has a second half similar to last season I can see him getting moved over the winter especially with the what quality pitching is going to cost in FA. s***, would anyone be shocked if this Braves talk turned in Rodon instead of Q? All the sudden the framework ends up being Rodon for Acuna or something?
-
QUOTE (Enscheff @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) You guys keep responding as if I'm denying Q's worth. I'm simply stating what the Braves are likely to offer. If you think Q's value will somehow increase once he is controlled for 3 seasons plus 3 postseasons instead of 3.5 season plus 4 postseason...well, I'm not sure how you can logically defend that position. Agreed; guys, down boys, down. Stop gangbanging him. He comes in peace. I think you are probably pretty accurate. It will be interesting to see if the Braves FO caves and offers one of those bats (I don't think anyone truly expects one to be Acuna - even Rick Hahn), along with Allard or Newcomb, and then a third piece like Pache. I would accept Maitain/and one of the LHPs/Pache if I was Hahn. I know people will think he's too far away, but I'd rather gamble on him have Albies.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) I'm not sure it was ever "two-sided." But it has gone from legitimate, full length documentaries (back when it was basically the WW2/Hitler channel), to what we have now, which is Indiana Jones wannabes taking historical events/questions/myths and talking about nonsensical theories over the course of an hour before ultimately concluding that no one really knows anything. I'll never forget watching this piece of s*** (http://www.history.com/shows/brad-meltzers...son-1/episode-1) 7 years ago. An hour discussing the mystery behind the cornerstone of the Whitehouse and whether it went missing. The conclusion after 50 minutes of theorizing nonsensical Free Mason garbage, including what may have been stored inside the cornerstone? Nothing. It's still there, underground. Case solved! Thanks History Channel. Yeah, that entire series sucked. I can watch a few shows like that, but ultimately you get sick of them never actually solving anything.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 09:49 AM) And if he was scheduled to start on the 26th, it wouldn't take much to just push his next scheduled start beyond that to the 1st. There is risk for a rusty start, but it's also a getaway day for the Mariners, so maybe they put out a weaker lineup. They could potentially have him start on the 22nd, but I'd just assume push that to the 23rd so as to avoid the Cubs entirely. They may not be what they were last year, but that's still a good offensive ball club. He's still set to face the Indians on the 28th then, who are also a good offensive team, so maybe I'm just speculating to speculate here. I have been a big a fan of the Feathered Serpent as there is, but I'm ready for this to happen. I hope he makes none of those starts.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 09:53 AM) Why isn't it fair? I'm not sure I get your angle here. All the rumormongering
