The hell they calling up Moncada? THE THREAD
iamshack replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 03:02 PM) Catching platoon with Timmy. One plays catcher while other plays CF and then rotate But what about the development of Smith!?! -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 02:50 PM) They really don't man. When the Sox think Moncada is ready (after the Super 2 Date) he'll be in Chicago regardless of how the other guys are doing Where will he play??? -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 02:58 PM) Yep. Dylan Covey actually died and nobody said anything. Who?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) No problem. I think from the White Sox side of things, JR is more involved in the day to day stuff, so stuff doesn't get vetoed by someone at an end stage. If JR doesn't like something, it probably never gets off of the ground. Yeah, at least in terms of the financial aspects. I know that Kenny mentioned that these days Rick will do most of the leg work before even telling Kenny, otherwise he would end up watching hours of video on a guy only to find out that that player or that deal had been off the table for days. So I suspect the Sox FO discusses their goals for a transaction up front and then revisits again if Rick can negotiate something close to those original parameters.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 07:59 AM) It was reported that this happened from the Nats side. https://www.outsidepitchmlb.com/washington-...son-trade/70018 Ahh thank you! I had not seen that article.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 07:48 AM) I have not heard anyone report it any differently to this point. Rick Hahn actually kind of broke this months ago. I thought I had read that ownership had killed it, but not necessarily their ownership.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 07:33 AM) Nightengale reported months ago that Sox were sending Robertson and a chunk of the contract to Washington for 3B Drew Ward and LHP Jesus Luzardo. It fell through because Ted Lerner (2nd richest owner in MLB) is cheap. It's easy to see what might have happened here. Sox want to eat X and get those players in return. Nats want Sox to eat Y and take same players. I doubt this deal happens. Robertson has been really good this year. While I want the Sox to eat $$ on deals in order to receive better prospects in return, I don't really think it should be necessary to eat much of Robertson's deal. You should get prospects for him while someone else takes on the $$. It's not that bad. I mean if there is value to be had from us eating it (basically, it paves the way for a top 100 prospect), we should eat it. However, if teams want us to eat and take back their middling prospect, f that.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 07:26 AM) I don't know what I think about it, but that was clearly being inferred by Olney last night as he talked about the Nats and Robertson last night. Very interesting....so we are certain that the Nats' owner was the one who killed it?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 07:20 AM) It also kind of sounded like the failure of the deal at the ownership level night have nuked any good will there. It would surprise me if THAT was the thing that ruined relations between us and Rizzo

Joe: July 28. Stock is jumping

Wow, Fenwick is over $15k. I remember when I went there it was something like $5,500-6k...so it has basically tripled in 20 years. f***, I can't believe how old I am...
-
Despite watching him all season, this is a surreal f***ing result. The odds that one could have gotten on this...

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 08:16 PM) He was also getting squeezed and 4 errors is a big deal plus two questionable calls. Most days that's a quality start or better. Scouts I'm sure saw it. Hmm, Eric Cooper is a pitcher's umpire...I didn't get the sense that he was calling a tight zone.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) Was ruled a legal slide thus taking Sanchez out was all good . Not sure of the rule but if you have a direct path to the base and don't overslide it I guess you can slide however you want within those parameters. Yeah, I heard the explanation. Problem was, they changed the rule.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) That Engel play seemed pretty darn definitive As did Choo's legs being way the f*** outside the baseline...
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 02:19 PM) I like replay more than most, but when it goes to New York, they should look at it with fresh eyes and make the best call possible- not definitive proof to overturn. They would make better calls over the long run, and that should be the goal. Like the NFL, they seem to administer the "definitive proof" standard very inconsistently.

Why is is so incredibly difficult for us to steal bases and so incredibly difficult for us to prevent others from stealing bases?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 01:24 PM) He pitched fine with adversity. Not like they hit him hard. Hated the 3-2 pitch to Beltre that inning though I disagree. I get they weren't exactly barreling him up but he also doesn't record outs. He just wastes pitch after pitch after pitch and then walks guys. He can't put anyone away. This isn't anything new. He's a great pitcher when things go well. When he has to pitch out of the stretch, he's a completely different guy.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) Sox defense f***ing sucked Yeah, but you still have to look at how he pitches when faced with adversity. I know he's pitched better of late, but he annoys the ever living f*** out of me when men are on base. My wife is like "why are you always yelling at the tv when this guy pitches?"
-
f*** So what do scouts even take away from this start?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) Wow quick hook Yeah, I don't like this at all.
-
Mike Fiers has 7k and 0 ER after 4 innings against the Yankees. With 105 pitches.
-
QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 07:43 PM) Pretty cool gif of the best pitcher in baseball https://twitter.com/OldComiskey/status/881236747820171265 Crazy
-
Contreras really starting to heat up, conveniently too with the dismissal of Montero.
-
Martes leaves after 5+, 89 pitches, 7k, 4 hits, 0ER so far but leaves men on 1st and 3rd with 0 outs in the inning. Frazier with a sinking liner for a double (probably should have been a single).
