QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 01:12 PM) http://notesfromthesally.com/2017/04/27/my...cf-rome-braves/ This very recent scouting report ranks Pache as the 3rd best prospect in the Sally league right now. "Conclusion: Pache is an exciting young player with 5 loud tools on display. We could be looking at a player with the potential to hit 280+, with power in the teens and 25+ SB. With well above average CF defense. That’s a very exciting player." You have to remember, Pache is only 18 years old until November and is batting .295 in low A ball against much older competition. So bottom line, are you suggesting he needs to be the second piece, or that he is too valuable to be the second piece?

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 12:42 PM) I certainly would be interested in Albies. He has reached AAA at age 20 and is excellent defensively. A .759 OPS considering his age and level is very good. Acuna and Maitan are likely considered untouchable by the Braves at this point. Pache has really raised his prospect stock and would be an excellent pick up. I don't think the Braves trade him as a third or fourth piece in a deal. Acuna or Maitan + Allard or Newcomb + Pache + Jackson would be an enormous haul for the White Sox that is not happening I just don't see Albies doing much for us right now considering TA's extension and Sanchez playing well, not to mention Moncada, obviously. I agree on Acuna. Assuming we may want to make the headlining piece a position player, it basically has to be Maitan. I'd also like a LH starting arm. Maybe we take Fried back if they think Maitan and Allard or Newcomb is too top heavy? I do want Pache though...maybe you settle for Maitan/Pache/Jackson?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) Acuna is untouchable IMO I think you are probably right, but I do think they would be willing to move Maitan considering he's so far away and they will be set in the MI for awhile. I don't think we'd have much interest in Albies, which leaves us to insist on Acuna or Maitan, the latter being who the Braves will need to decide whether they like Q enough to move him. Then you are probably asking for Allard or Newcomb. Then maybe a few guys like Pache and Jackson?

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 12:03 PM) Quintana and Robertson are likely not going anywhere until right before the deadline. It is in the White Sox best interest to turn up the heat on suitors and have them get into a bidding war. I don't agree with this bidding war notion. As I said before, the trade market doesn't work like a normal commodities market, where things are transparent and information is widely available. It isn't as though Hahn is going to be auctioning these guys off at 6 pm on the 31st or something. He needs to be working with serious suitors to get deals done that make sense for the future. It is very unlikely that he is going to finally get to that place with one team, and then call the others and tell them "Cashman has offered this, can you beat it?" He's going to field calls from all interested parties, and let them know what the price is. If someone wants to meet it, they will (or something close). Also, keep in mind, these discussions have been ongoing for like 6 months now. The groundwork has been laid. Now we just wait until the heat gets turned up on someone enough that they become serious about meeting Hahn's prices.

QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) Tonight is an absolutely huge start. I liked how one AL scout mentioned he thinks it's all just mental with Q. Hopefully tonight he doesn't mindf*** himself.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) I'd still love to get my hands on Kevin Maitan. I'm beginning to think you mean this literally

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 09:02 AM) Keeping the focus on Quintana, with the deadline soon approaching we can imagine the Yankees, Astros, Dodgers, possibly Red Sox? possibly Cubs? Diamondbacks? Rockies? to be potential suitors for Quintana. I'll be interested if any of these contenders try to "beat the rush" and try to acquire a starter in the next week or two rather than waiting around towards the end of July. Would love to be able to read the texts between Cashman and Hahn tonight as Q is pitching...

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 07:09 AM) I'm 26 and I'm getting to this point in my life. All my friends in relationships are hardly around anymore. Had some weddings for some friends within 2-4 years older than me last year, which I refer to as "the first wave." My other friends about the same age as me are starting to get engaged so there will be a decent amount of weddings between the next year-4 years I think. Just wait til the kids start coming...

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 08:35 PM) Uh, guys Yeah, I turned it off after 8...then I saw the post about Fathom reverse jinxing TA and figured something must have happened. I am sure Avi and Davidson will whiff though against AC. -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) Milwaukee, which I love so I am really excited about it. Just dreading the moving/renting out my condo/missing friends stuff. Just know this...you will soon be at an age where your friends are all getting married and knocking up their wives and raising families...you will hardly ever see them anymore anyways...and you'll end up talking to strangers on sports forums more than your own childhood friends....oh wait...that's me.

Well, guys, let's not write off Glasnow and Meadows quite yet either.

I'd like to see the Sox trade Fulmer to the Reds for Brandon Finnegan.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) Let's face it. Giolito was a trainwreck when he got here. I think Washington knew that, which is why they spent all winter trying to package him in big deals. Gavin Floyd was honestly a great comp here. Dude has a million dollar arm, but no confidence when he got here. He needed to be rebuild from the ground up mechanically, but then also to start believing that he was a stud pitcher again. It seems like he might be turning that corner in AAA, but we will see. If the Sox can rebuild him into even a middle rotation pitcher, and still get something out of Lopez and Dunning, this is a huge win for the White Sox. Well, I tend to agree with you for the most part on Giolito, I think he was still viewed as a great prospect, but there was definitely some polish that was coming off, and it was coming off fast. I do believe that we really loved Lopez and Dunning, more so than that we thought we might get something out of them. I think they saw a package with a potential #1, #2 AND #3 IF things all broke as well as they could. Now is that likely to happen? No...but I would suspect that the odds are they at least get two of those arms to be #2 or 3 type guys, with one working out of the pen (I honestly fear this may be Lopez).

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 10:03 AM) I think this "do-over for the Eaton trade" narrative is overblown. Obviously Eaton's injury changes the team's outlook this year, but the trade itself wasn't that lopsided. Besides, based on their performance this season alone, two-thirds of the return package (Giolito and Lopez) would have seen their trade value drop. I didn't mean it that way...I meant solely from a reallocation of assets perspective. Kinda like that time in high school when you blew your wad on an expensive stereo for your car, only to have transmission drop out on you 2 months later. Oh, and the way Giolito is pitching recently, I don't think his value would be perceived as having dropped - I think it's quite the opposite - I think he is probably being seen as a better prospect right now than the day we traded for him.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 09:38 AM) Bob NightengaleVerified account @BNightengale 27m27 minutes ago The #Marlins and #Rays are optimistic they will finalize a deal today to send SS Adeiny Hechavarria to Tampa today for fringe prospects We really missed out on an opportunity to help our cause yesterday. Edit: Oops, was responding to the Sonny Gray tweet.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) i really dont understand what Rizzo is doing. This bullpen construction looks like a rebuilding team throwing together a pen, not a team that has a playoff worthy offense and starting pitching I think he's trying to hold out like DA and some others have suggested, obviously due to the lead they have, but at the same time, see if he can cheaply find a combination of guys, that when put in certain roles, might actually achieve more than the sum of their parts. It's pretty clear that any GM that has a reasonably performing bullpen arm is asking him for Robles, Fedde, Soto, etc., and he is hesitant to empty out his farm system even more after the Eaton deal. How much do you think Rizzo wishes he could have that Eaton trade back, so he could use those pieces to fix his pen?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 06:48 PM) The Royals are .500 and they are a couple games out and believe they can win it. This is why I get so upset. That Royals team has one, pathetic starting rotation. I mean it's Sox-like it's so bad. True they have sensational players in Cain, Hosmer and Salvy but that's really about it. They've got Merrifield and several stiffs impersonating contending ballplayers. That's why I get mad. If we kept Sale and Eaton, cmon. Arguably with some tinkering (like bringing Moncada up, bringing up a stud prospect pitcher or two and get Rodon healthy) we have as good or better team than that crap KC team that's contending. And we have a closer. This is all ridiculous. All we don't have in my scenario is DEFENSE and the Sox aren't planning on fielding a good defensive team during the rebuild, either. So that nullifies itself. I think we should clean house in the front office and owners box. Get rid of everybody and get a clue, White Sox. We could have won this crap division. Greg, I think you are right, we might have actually been able to compete for the division this year without trading Sale. But rebuilding will allow us to hopefully compete for a lot more than that over a sustained period. That is the hope and the argument for rebuilding. Who knows if it will work.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 02:11 PM) No excuse for Robertson to be pitching a second inning. What a horrible weekend on the field Yeah, it was good for the draft, but terrible for the rebuild otherwise. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 08:46 PM) I could use you Tex. I've been playing well and all of a sudden my round today I was spraying everything right and at times shanking. No idea where this slice came from. I've been playing draws all summer. I couldn't hit anything solid. I swear, I play so much better when I haven't picked up a club in 6 months. It's when I'm playing frequently that all the stupid s*** happens.
