Wow, this Kanye album is, IMHO, the best hip hop album since Tupac's All Eyez on Me. Absolutely brilliant.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 26, 2010 -> 08:30 AM) Not in thoses days. He was a skinny 6'4 1/2" guy. Derrick Rose is much stronger than a 23 year old MJ Mike was also not a particularly great defender at 23 either...he didn't really become a great defensive player until his 5th or 6th seasons, during those epic battles with the Pistons...

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 25, 2010 -> 05:04 PM) The Saints are just owning the Cowboys right now. I think you jinxed them.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 25, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) Why trade a good chip to fill a position that already has 3 players there? The upgrade Stewart MIGHT provide over those 3 guys is not worth losing Floyd. If the Rockies want Floyd, then try for Fowler + prospects or set your sights high and make a package around Floyd for CarGo. I can only imagine J4L's reaction... Fun to think about, but that ain't happening...

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 25, 2010 -> 01:07 AM) How tall is Common? Judging from the picture, about six-two

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 07:34 AM) Bumped into Common at O'Hare... I think it's more like Common bumped into you, Sqwert...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 11:27 PM) I would go with more of his mental make up. He strikes me as very Garland-esque. He has a nice frame, and an easy motion, so I don't think he is much of an injury risk. Well, he's been injured at the end of the past two seasons...maybe they think his hip will cause trouble in the future.

Only thing I can think of is that they are concerned about Gavin's durability.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 01:53 AM) Interesting analogy. :-) OK, my starting point a couple of weeks out is pulling together a list of about 30 cocktails that I would consider showcase drinks that are of historical significance or else just plain kick ass. I'll have the host of the party cut that list in half based on a visual inspection of ingredients and flavor profiles, and then I hope to do taste tests with the host and a couple of her friends over a couple of days to get the spotlight cocktail menu down to maybe 8 drinks. Knowing that I'm now working for a different master I am trying to overcome my bias against vodka drinks because I recognize they can be crowd-pleasers. To that end, I'm playing around with an original cocktail I think I'll call the Perfect Pair. As of the two iterations I played with this evening the drink is made thusly, • 1.5 oz pear vodka • 1 oz Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur • 0.5 oz lemon juice • 2 tsp. raspberry syrup Shake with ice, double strain and serve up in a martini glass. I'd like to garnish this with a piece of candied ginger, but I don't have any on hand. This is kind of a fru fru drink, but the ginger liqueur gives it a bit of heat and keeps it interesting enough that I's consider serving it to discerning drinkers. I actually think a couple of these in succession (they go down pretty easy) might make women spontaneously shed their clothes. Just saying. Mix this one up in the right company and you can thank me later. I think you are a man I will strive to be when I grow up... That being said, I'm sipping on Heineken, malibu and pineapple at the moment, so I obviously have a long way to go...

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) I could see 2009 numbers again and then Keith Law voting for him on his Cy Young ballot. I took a flyer on him in my keeper league redraft, knowing he would probably end up with a small market NL team. I expect a pretty solid season out of him. Pretty happy if this comes to fruition.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) I dunno but that harmonica video had me spit out my drink. Hah, I just went back and watched that one...I had stopped previously after the coffee brewer and shaver... You can play along with preset beats, or you can go freestyle!

QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 10:11 AM) That wasn't the point. McDaniels tried to go behind Cutler's back to trade him for Matt Cassel because McDaniels wanted to run his own system. Which is fine, but Broncos fans all retroactively took McDaniels's side (blaming all of that on Cutler because I guess it was easy) and insisted he knew what he was doing with the personnel decisions. Then he's made a whole series of stupid decisions that I won't list all of here, but he fired Nolan (the real reason the Broncos started off the season 6-0 last year), traded away Hillis for Brady Quinn and then traded up to draft Tebow anyway, etc. That team is a laughingstock and they have the same record as the Vikings, I think. It's pretty funny the lengths Bronco homers go to defend and deflect blame though. They say silly things like the offensive line is terrible... lol come on now. They have one of the best young OLines in the league, actually. McDaniels is a bright guy, but I think he's got a bit of the God Complex going...

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 06:50 PM) I know when Maggs left, but if the Sox won it all in 2004 you wouldn't have said didly about getting something for Magglio. Besides, the Sox got crap for him. No players, no draft picks and somehow still managed to win the WS. If I was in charge, and Danks said no way he's re-signing, I'm still rolling the dice with him unless its a deal you just can't say no. Why not let their best pitcher leave, and grab the draft picks? Why do the White Sox have to operate like a second division team? Then you can use the money you would have allocated to him on other parts, so ie, you get 2 draft picks plus some established players plus 2 more years of John Danks in the rotation pitching for a payday. Not a bad deal at all. It's not about operating like a "second division" team. It's about the most efficient allocation of your resources. If that means trading out of an asset before it's value begins decreasing, then you do so. The White Sox will determine what the chances are of signing Danks to an extension and at what cost, what possible assets Danks could bring in a trade, and what kind of performance they project over the next two years and whether that performance, along with two draft picks, is more efficient than the other two courses of action.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) My God, my picks are awful today. I got beat up pretty badly today. Need the Eagles to roll to salvage the day. The Browns were +6 in the turnover margin until their final drive of that game and STILL managed to lose. That's like virtually impossible to do. The officials really screwed over Detroit....they kept calling horse collar penalties on key downs which were bs...especially one where they tackled Marion Barber by his hair. Just a poor job of officiating...ended up really changing the composition of the game. The Cardinals never showed up today at all, although the refs managed to screw them over in a key part of the game as well. And then of course, the Pats let the Colts back in the game by playing prevent defense against Peyton Manning (STUPID).

A few things...it doesn't strike anyone as odd that we are going to compare the Memoir's of George W Bush against that of a President that served 135 years ago? Are we even really talking about the same thing here anymore? Secondly, wasn't Grant's memoir written while he delusional from the effects of cancer? I dunno, just seems a bit odd for someone to compare a memoir released to the mass media of the 21st century versus one released in 1885? Not that his memoir isn't highly praised and outstanding, but it seems like maybe the differences in what Grant sought to do and what Bush was seeking to do (in writing their memoirs) are so great as to sort of destroy the comparison altogether.

I've been advocating the trading of Danksy since about May now. Not that I wouldn't like to keep him, but we just need cheap assets right now and he makes the most sense to move right now.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) Indy +3.5 Jets -7 I'll be interested to see if Collie plays...he's listed as questionable but has practiced the last two days. The Colts have really been lucky though the last few weeks, getting outplayed badly but managing to come away 1-1. The Bengals had a FIVE turnover deficit against the Colts and still covered the spread. Teams that are -5 in turnovers in a game are something like 4-127 ATS since 1989. I don't believe the Patriots are especially great either, but I do like them to play well for the second straight week. Houston has not covered the spread in 5 games. Teams that have not covered in 5 or more games and are not favored by 3 or more points are on a 21-1 run ATS right now. The Jets are also sitting in a home letdown situation. The Jets have also been extremely lucky recently, so I am going to play the Texans and expect some of the bounces to go against the Jets for the first time in a while.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 11:11 AM) Not just saying they should have let him catch the ball, they should have left him completely unguarded, because compared to Kyle Korver... You are right though, Dallas had about a 12-1 run or something like that to start the 3rd. 2 games in a row the Bulls have come out sloppy on offense right after the half. Actually the 3rd game in a row...they got outscored 30-14 in the Houston game in the third before going on the 18-0 run to start the 4th and recapture the lead.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 19, 2010 -> 12:01 PM) But you did say something. You told us how good Thigpen is, and how the Dolphins were going to win. You couldn't run for s*** on us, and got your ass beat. GO BEARS! I believe it was something to the effect of "there is pretty much no possible way the Bears can beat the Dolphins..."
