I will be less of a White Sox fan the day Kenny Williams is no longer the General Manager of the Chicago White Sox. I am so tired of this nonsense about farm teams. Look around, people. Look at who the best-rated farm systems have been in the last 5-10 years and then look at what they have actually produced. The once amazing systems of the Angels and Dodgers, loaded to the gils with player after player after player. And where has it got them? The Red Sox are a very unique organization, and I often hope that we will model ours after theirs. That being the case, there are not a whole lot of other organizations out there that I would want our FO to try and replicate.

Oh come on guys...let's face it, we probably should have gone 6-4 on this trip and I would have been fine with that. These last two games have been frustrating, but this trip hasn't been as bad as the record indicates.

Assuming they replace him via trade or FA in the offseason, my guess is the cost for a player putting up similar offensive production as he might have been expected to next year (without having been injured) will most likely cost them upwards of $8-10 million. Maybe they luck out and find a bargain for $5 million or so, but I wouldn't count on it. Factor that in with losing his production this season and possibly having to go out and acquire another bat for the remainder of this season, and what it will cost them in prospects and increased payroll, and my guess is they won't save a whole lot of money by avoiding the contract from vesting in this manner. Now if they had a replacement in house, yes, it would have been a blessing. But I'm not sure they do.
