  1. Well f***. Give me Rogers or Baz. I want no part of a f***ing 1b.
  2. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 04:54 PM) Phillies taking Haseley. I'm going to assume Milwaukee takes Adell...then Anaheim takes Baukauskas.... Does anyone think it's possible we take Rogers?
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) You are the one in the thread about a convicted child molestor who said people are rushing to judgement, Do you think if Oregon knew about this he would have been on their team? If you were a scouting director and it was round 40 and he was on the board, you would have no problem going to your owner and saying he is by far the best player available and you want to draft him, correct? Professional baseball isn't the only occupation that would red flag him because of his legal status. I think he will have a tough time finding a decent job. DA, I don't really know what I would do if I was a scouting director. What I do know is that the kid is legally allowed and encouraged to become a productive member of society from this point on. It does no one any good if he goes on to make less of his life from here on out, does it? What if he was given a chance, and managed to succeed, and donated some of his career earnings to charity or something? I mean, it does no one any good for him to become a ditch digger and become an alcoholic or something. He has served his punishment, and will continue to serve it as a sex offender. I, personally, have no moral issue with him being allowed to play professional baseball. If you do, that is your prerogative, and I accept that.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) Yep and then we can trade Moncada and Kopech for Sale since 2nd will be covered Great idea! An arbitrage resulting in Basabe and Diaz!
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) If I read it correctly, either Piliere or Law said he's a better hitter than Senzel, Swanson and Bregman out of college If that is the case, sign me up for Hiura before any of these first basemen.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 02:01 PM) Just remember, being excited that the white sox won has no bearing about whether they win or lose on the field. We cannot all read this enough times. In fact, I think we should all repeat this in unison, once a day.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) Not sure everyone believes that. Might be wishful thinking by him So today he is 20, will turn 21 in August. Even if you assume he loses a full year, seems like it isn't something that should hold you back if you truly believe in him as a hitter. Look at Jeff Hoffman at this point. Think there are some teams that wished they would have taken him earlier?
  8. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) You obviously missed my point. You scorn DA for suggesting he's accountable for his behavior no matter what happened in his own childhood, and I'm telling you that all sorts of people who do s***ty things were themselves subject to terrible s***, and it never matters. Luke Heimlich did something much worse than I've ever done in my life, and he did it repeatedly for two years. He might be a free man, but he's also a very troubled one, and he should not be afforded the chance to play in MLB. If you find that too judgmental on my part, so be it. No, I saw your point full well. And you made it in a way that made it very clear how you feel. You have every right to feel as though he should not be allowed to play professional baseball. I don't begrudge you for that. It is still not the case, however.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Just wondering what timeframe is for a 2nd baseman who gets TJS? I think it's probably 6-7 months? It isn't like he needs to be throwing like a pitcher, right?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:44 PM) Question....if you draft Hiura now, any chance he's healthy by May of next year if he gets TJS right away? Why would that matter?
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:38 PM) I think Beck to Oakland is a lock Except that Tampa and Atlanta could really shake things up in front of them...
  12. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:36 PM) What is this? some sort of bizarro discussion where I can only answer questions you ask? OK. Shoot. You asked me a question first, to which I answered you. You then responded with a series of statements, one of which I commented on. Not sure where you lost me there.
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) I've seen first hand the results of child abuse. Being killed may be an easier sentence than living through the effects of such an atrocious violation of dignity. My exwife was kidnapped and molested for years as a child. There... I said it. That's just one reason I'm biased heavily on this topic. If she somehow continued that cycle over to my son, I wouldn't have a single ounce of sympathy or leniency. f*** people like Himlech, f*** the piss poor statutes of limitations in many cases for these offenses, f*** a society that just wants to push issues like this into the dark, f*** plea bargains for offenders, and f*** this kids potential as a baseball player. H8is, I'm terribly sorry that this has impacted you so closely, and I can understand why it triggers such a response from you. The good news is, there doesn't appear to be any evidence that female victims of molestation are more prone to molesting others (engaging in a cycle of molestation).
  14. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:30 PM) He's already gotten a tremendous deal. No jail. Free college education. Maybe he can make something of himself. I don't feel sorry for him in the least. No one has asked you to feel sorry for him.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) You seem bothered by anyone coming to conclusions. Whether or not you want to think there may be a legitimate excuse for what he did (I guess you are in the everyone gets a trophy crowd), which I find ridiculous, either way, he would still be a sick person. Who would want that? Not really, Dick. You come to your own conclusions, I will come to mine. Part of that is a legal conclusion stating that he should not be disallowed the privilege of playing professional ball because of his crime. That is not part of his punishment, is it? I have not questioned anyone's moral judgment, and I have stated that repeatedly. Nor have I questioned anyone's desire for the White Sox to avoid this player. Obviously that has offended you and caused you to attack me personally.
  16. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) What? There are court documents and newspaper reports. What more do you want? I am merely pointing out that at least I, myself, do not know anything about this kid's own childhood, background, etc. Once again, I am not defending the act of child molestation. What I am stating is that I, personally, try not to rush to judgment on matters that I don't know much about. What is to be gained by my judgment, anyways? And by yours?
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) Since he won't be drafted, maybe you could get him to coach some youth baseball by you. What the f*** is this supposed to mean, DA?
  18. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:12 PM) 10 years from now, she'll be 21, so I don't think she'll be stabbing any of her current high school teachers. But if she does something atrocious down the road, yes, she should be held to account. Seriously, try finding a serial killer or other hardcore degenerate who didn't have a f***ed up childhood. None of those tragedies form serious arguments for clemency from their later acts. Fine, her college professor. Better? For f***s sakes. And now we are equating this kid to a serial killer. I'm not going to even bother.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:05 PM) Are you really defending a child molester? Perhaps you could refer to previous posts, where I stated multiple times to the contrary. I'm just not willing to rush into judge people and situations where I don't know s*** about what happened.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:05 PM) Didn't someone in a thread say a Cubs official that was on one of the Score shows said they already removed him from their draft board? I would imagine most teams did this as well. The link someone posted earlier said 3 teams have removed him from their boards.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:58 PM) Child.......please. The poor guy had his way with a girl starting when she was 4 ending when he was caught when she was 6. We don't know, maybe something happened to OJ when he was 4 that caused him to be a POS. I prefer to hold people responsible for their actions and not search for some BS excuse. Again, his victim faces an uphill battle. That is who deserves the sympathy. He's done. No team will touch him. They won't put the rest of their players through this. They won't put their fanbase through this. They won't subject themselves to all they would get for giving him a chance because he can throw a ball pretty well. You only choose to read what you want to read, DA. Be as judgemental of people you don't know as you'd like. In 10 years, when this poor girl goes and stabs her male teacher in high school, you can then rush in and judge her too, because people should be "responsible for their actions," and not receive any consideration of some "BS excuse."
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:52 PM) Another tidbit from Law. Jim 3:45 Where would Luis Robert go in this draft class? Keith Law 3:45 Probably middle of the first round. He's such a snarky bastard. Stone mentioned yesterday that Robert, by consensus of the industry, would be a top 3 pick.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) Key to Sox draft is a 2-3 of Thompson/Hiura/Baz/Faedo going in the top ten. Or said a different way, 2-3 teams going underslot ahead of them. It could be any number of different guys at those selections that sets the Sox up for someone falling to them.
