QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 01:24 PM) The only concern that I have so far with the draft is that it seems like the Sox FO still doesnt put a high priorty on defense. Really wanted to see that come through in this rebuild. I assume there are probably very few players that are great with both offense and defense but still would like to have seen some more promising reports that guys that they take play exceptional defense. Yeah, it does sort of seem like we're putting together beer league softball team, but hey, if they can hit...

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 09:41 PM) The number was over 300,000 in the first week, and over 400,000 as of May of 2016. Tesla has been hardcore anti-selling the Model 3 lately, but I am assuming during their July final reveal of the car they will announce the pre-order number to date. They have said for a while they don't want to announce the updated figures because of how it could be spun negatively, whether the number is higher or lower than people think. Who knows how many of those actually convert, but it's still going to be a huge number regardless. That doesn't mean they will be able to produce them in the next 12 months, either.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 10:36 AM) Of course he can and should be criticized but as I said I think these last few games you guys are getting at him for very bizarre reasons imo. The stat padding people got on him for being too passive in the 4th in game 3 and now he's just being aggressive to stat pad. He had 14 in the 4th last night so he already had 27 through the first 3, dude was trying to do everything in his power to keep up when his team was just overmatched. This just isn't true. They kept feeding him in the post with Durant and he wanted no part of him. He kept passing out of it or shooting some bizarre f***ing step backs (one which incredibly went in, to his credit, but still was a dumb ass shot). If they don't double him in the post, he has to go to the hoop. It wasn't until the very end of the game that suddenly he started taking it with authority to the basket. Secondly, he was not getting back in transition himself, but then openly yelling at his teammates when they missed assignments. Thirdly, there were three or four times when he had position on rebounds and he let guys like Pat McCall or Iggy get the rebound over him, which should never happen. I get it, these are not the largest of transgressions, but they are things that needed to be done to win a game against GS in Oakland, and he wasn't entirely focused enough to pull it off. Probably physically and mentally exhausted by the second half of that game last night...but very bizarre criticisms, I don't think so. If they were so bizarre, I don't think they would be so widely held.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 10:18 AM) I'm pretty sure there isn't a person out there right now who thinks LeBron is the goat at the moment. He's a distant two to me right now. I defend the guy now a days because people find the most ridiculous ways to try and discredit him. Bulls fans in particular are so defensive of the Bulls and Jordan's legacy for some reason that they go out of their way to try and knock LeBron(or this Warriors team) down. At the same time, I feel like I can't be critical of anything the guy does because then it means I'm saying he's a terrible player. I've mentioned a few things over the past week that have been widely voiced by various commentators almost in unison, and posters here have responded as if I'm the only one being critical of him. To be frank, he's an all-time great, and all-time greats are subject to additional criticism at times...that comes with the territory.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 08:32 AM) True, but teams know the situation the Nationals are in and will all be looking to exploit that. Robertson's contract only runs through next season, which does line up with their window of contention before Harper likely bolts in free agency. It's not like Colome or Hand would necessarily come cheaply either? Herrera has not been great this season and has given up 7 home runs in 25 innings and has a 5.08 FIP. Sox are certainly sellers, and Robertson very well is the best closer on the market, along with relievers like Kahnle and Swarzak. Exactly right. Every GM in the League is watching this. Remember Rizzo's quote a month or so ago saying something to the effect of "these closers don't come cheap"? We heard every team is asking for Robles. These Mfers are like sharks in the water, circling for blood.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 08:23 AM) You must've really had a hard time giving Shaq his credit during his prime. Anyway, LeBron definitely has a permanent residence inside your head - rent free. Yeah, I'll be honest, I do. I can appreciate watching someone like Kyrie, dominating more with skill and heart and effort than someone who is able to dominate partially as a result of sheer size. And J4L, you spend half your life trying to discredit a guy for which you named yourself on this message board. Talk about rent f***ing free.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 11:19 PM) Some community service, therapy, and being on the offender list. No jail time. He was a juvenile when this occurred, and he was classified as being very unlikely to be a repeat offender. This is not particularly uncommon.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 08:06 AM) It doesn't matter who's saying it, I like to chat using common sense as my guide. Well that belies about 30k of your posts here.

Apparently neither of you two have negotiated much in your life.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 07:43 AM) I agree with DA. They'll make a move before it's too late but with the division they play in and the current lead they have, the Nats have time to wait a little longer before they start making moves. As long as they add BP guys before the deadline and post-season, that's all that really matters. If you guys think other GMs aren't seeing this s*** and licking their chops, you are nuts. It is NOT a good look when your manager continues to beg the GM through the press to find him some bullpen help. I concede they can win this division even without a bullpen, but you're nuts if you think this isn't raising the price they will pay. And it isn't like they only need one arm...they need 3-4 arms. Rizzo has some work to do.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 07:42 AM) 33.6, 12.0, 10.0 But you're right, he waited until there were three minutes in game 5 to take over for his team. Solid post. Steve, you can read what you want to read, and ignore and what you want to ignore, but it wasn't just me saying this. Van Gundy and Jackson mentioned it 3-4 times last night. And I can live without your snarky comments about the post.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 05:42 AM) Dusty not mincing words: "We need some help. We need some help, big-time." https://twitter.com/MarkZuckerman/status/874463470347005952 This isn't the first time he's said it, either. But DA, I thought that all was wonderful in Washington?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 05:32 AM) I get what you are saying and noticed a little of it, but it's funny how he can be lazy while putting up 41/13/8 on 19-30 shooting. Yeah, that is why I qualified it as was still LeBron...it's difficult for me sometimes to give credit to him as a lot of his production comes from him being just so physically freakish. He gets by a lot on brute strength and size. The officials allow him to just charge into the lane and clear out with his off hand to get to the basket. Don't get me wrong - dude is a crazy gifted athlete and a great basketball mind, but in terms of his effort last night, he wasn't getting back on defense, he was letting smaller guys get rebounds he should have had, he was yelling at others like Kevin Love for not getting back in transition, he refused to go hard to the basket when he was fed the ball in the post in the second half when they needed him, etc. And as Boogua said, finally when the game was out of reach, with about 3 minutes remaining, THEN he decides to take the ball to the basket. THEN he decides to take over for his team. It was a bit of a curious effort from him.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 08:38 PM) They're still stinging from the fan base over the Eaton trade, so I think they'll ride this out all the way to the deadline before they make another deal with the Sox. They have some cushion in the standings to do so now, but by July 31, when attention to the postseason starts to kick in, they'll be better able to justify another trade with the Sox that costs them more top prospects. We just need to hope Robertson continues to pitch well the next six, seven weeks. I've been arguing with DA over this, and I understand the point, but I've got the be honest. This is getting real ugly. I just don't know that I would play with fire with my big league roster to try and protect myself from overpaying a bit to remedy this bullpen. You don't want this to continue much longer.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) Hahaha. Suck it LeBron. Was uncharacteristicly lazy tonight...I mean he's still LeBron honestly, but got outhustled on a number of plays, allowed himself to be forced into terrible shots in the post, and didn't really force the issue until the waning moments of the game, as if he had $ bet on the Cavs +9.5 or something.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 05:34 PM) I meant the whole first round and how it played out. Honestly would be happier with JB then Burger but I hope we are right he can stick. Yeah, it just broke exactly as poorly as it could have. Given all the bats that went off the board, I would have gone with an arm there. Position players/bats needed be damned. -
