QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 14, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) Not at all. It's one thing to have no game. It's another to be totally cognizant of it and try to use it to your advantage. Feign confidence if you have to. My best friend has always been like this and it works fairly well for him. Sure, there are some women that totally don't get it, but then there are women who totally adore him for it. It seems to work well on vacation. Whenever we are on vacation, he picks up like 25 times as many women as he does at home. The key is being comfortable and confident with your lameness.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Feb 14, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) Not looking forward to Plyo today. I need to get motivated! I am on my rest day, but I usually do Cardio X on my rest day. Considering doing plyo though just to be an ass to myself...

I'm down. -
I haven't really stopped to consider the idea of Damon in our lineup, because I never really thought it would be a possibility. But I must say, that should we ink Damon sometime early this week, our team certainly has a much different complexion to it, doesn't it? A platoon of Jones/Damon/Quentin/Pierre/Nix at DH seems much more capable while still providing all kind of flexibility for Ozzie. I think this would really get me excited for ST.

QUOTE (T R U @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) See, this is my issue with this.. I got stomach fat that I need to lose, however I don't see me losing any inches because my waist really isn't the problem.. ive been wearing the same size pants since pretty much senior year in high school.. My issue is with stomach fat, my legs are fine my arms are fine its the midsection area that is holding me back.. Well, you'll lose the gut, so who cares whether you lose inches off your waist size or not?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) Frankly if you cut out all the fast food and s***, and go grocery shopping and make healthy meals and follow the workout program, you'll be good to go. You'll prob drop a TON of body fat and 3-4 inches on the waist at least. Definitely. I've started buying more lean meats like chicken and turkey. Have also picked up some tuna and salmon. Additionally, have been picking up sushi. One other focus is lower sodium. Most foods you buy have a lower sodium option that really isn't much of a step down in taste. I've not been much of a fast food eater for several years, but I have tightened up the eating habits a notch and I am seriously fitting into clothes I have not fit into in several years (like crap I bought when I was 22, I am 32 now).

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) What's the diet like on these things? I am 5'9", 145 lbs., but I tend to eat a lot (and junk), probably too much. The workouts I do currently I think are fine, but it's the eating I have a problem. Any tips to keeping to a diet? I am talking about getting "shredded" in the abs, lol? The nutrition plan they give you is really strict. The first 30 days they allow you to eat very little fat, carbs, or even fruit. It basically calls for all lean protein, vegetables, and some dairy. I think it's pretty difficult to follow the nutrition plan to the letter. I have made some adjustments in my diet, but have certainly eaten more fat, carbs, and fruit than they would have liked. I'm not trying to be in the infomercial, so I am not going to make myself miserable. That's not to say you should continue eating s*** though either. I just think maybe a bit more reasonableness or moderation works well for me.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) Reddy was an extra in the theater scene. Unfortunately, Reddy's outstanding performance as Best Extra in a Drama was not enough to save this film....

Got around to watching Public Enemies, finally. Was pretty disappointed. Depp and Bale were solid, but I thought the plot (or execution of the plot) was pretty weak. I didn't find it suspenseful, didn't find it altogether exciting, did not feel any desire for the couple to be together, etc. It was a decent movie with some local interest. Other than that it was crap.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) What's this going to cost me. My disposable income is very tight. Coupla hundred bucks, between the dvds and the equipment.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) I am starting this up and see if I can't drop 30 to 40 pounds. Hopefully it won't kill me.... Keep us posted with your progress, man.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) Do we really have the worst farm system, or is that just according to Keith Law. It doesn't matter. We have some mlb-ready or near-ready pieces that other teams want. They could care less about the overall depth of our system.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) listen, you won't (probably) drop 100lbs in ONE round of P90X. That is, unless you stick EXACTLY to the nutrition guide and never miss a day of workouts - etc. Then you might have a fighting chance. What you will do is drop a significant percentage of that weight - which will lean you out all over - you'll love the way you're looking, and you won't wanna stop. By the time you complete two rounds I wouldn't be surprised if you lost 100lbs. I think he meant $100+, not 100 lbs...

QUOTE (T R U @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 04:19 AM) This seems odd to me as I am 6' 230 and I wear a 34 waist.. Either way, its so hard to believe 3am promos on TV but I wanna believe P90x does what the before and afters show.. I would need to see pictures from you guys using it who have really done it right before I would buy it.. I don't doubt that its good, but if im gonna drop 100+ on this thing I literally wanna be a different person in 90 days.. I know I have been trumpeting this program, but I can't tell you guys enough how awesome it is. I've been doing it for 26 days now. I have lost approximately 12 pounds (187-175 LBS), and that is probably more like 14-15 since I bet I have gained a few pounds of muscle. I'm not even 1/3 of the way through the program and I can tell you it has changed my life. I am a better athlete and a more healthy person in every way. I will try and post some pictures on Tuesday of me after my first workout and me after 30 days.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 03:54 AM) i started out doing whey as a recovery drink - but it really doesn't quite work that way. your recovery drink needs to be a 4:1 ratio of carbs to protein. Because while protein is great, it requires complex carbs to metabolize it. Without the carbs, your protein's doing you no good. That's why Whey is good to take either right before, or about an hour or so after your workout - while a recovery drink should be done IMMEDIATELY following the workout. The P90X recovery drink is epic, but a cheaper option I've done is Endurox R4, pretty decent tasting and gets the job done just as well for a little bit less. Interesting. I was not aware of that. Usually I drink it after I get out of the shower, so about 45 mins after my workout. You think that is ok?

QUOTE (BurlyMan56 @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 12:57 AM) I'm still iffy if the product is worth the money but from everything you guys are saying and from personal recommendations, I may have to use some of the income tax check on it. I have an Iron Gym, 25 lb dumbells, yoga mat, fitness ball, resistance band. What else do I need? I'm 5'9 and 165 lbs (size 32 waist), in decent looking shape, really looking to get the ab definition I had back in highschool and to achieve greater muscle mass. In addition to the nutrition plan, are you guys stopping at GNC and getting stuff? If so, what recommendations do you have to tie in with P90x with also considering my measurements? Thanks guys You might want to get a few more weights or resistance bands, but that is it. Maybe a set of 12's and a set of 35's or something? The product is definitely worth the money. Every last cent. I would pay triple for it knowing what I do now. I bought some muscle milk light powder to make shakes for overall maintenance, and then some optimum whey protein powder for a recovery drink. I ordered them on Amazon for a total of like $80. The optimum will last me 3-4 months, the muscle milk probably a total of 2 months.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) Haha, that was my biggest potential concern with potentially going there (me and my fiance's safety). Jason, go to THIS link and click on the "safety and security" link. That describes what the situation is for American tourists in Eygpt.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) Have any of you been to Cairo, Egypt? Was thinking of including it on my honeymoon (going to go to a few European countries) and thought it could be cool to see the pyramids but was curious to see if anyone has ever been and whether it is worth it, safe, etc. I have not been, but if I were a newly married man, rising up the career ladder, and presiding over the best website in the history of the intrawebs, I would not go at the present time. It is not particularly safe for Americans to be there right now.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) With the added players that aren't receiving offers, it's almost time to expand again. If not expand teams, at least expand rosters from 25 to 27. I disagree. It isn't that there are more talented veterans all the sudden, it's just that teams are going younger and cheaper, leaving less roster spots for more expensive veterans. The market will correct itself eventually and equal things out again.

Did Core again today...damn, that is one of the tougher workouts in P90X, or else my core is just weak sauce.

QUOTE (shakes @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 04:58 PM) White Sox, Royals, Tigers, A's, Blue Jays, O's, Mariners are all going to use multiple players to DH. The Angels will if Matsui is healthy, and the Red Sox acquired Hermida to do exactly the same if Ortiz slumps. The Rays will do the same if Burrell is bad or can be moved. You don't think that's trending away from the traditional DH? Keep in mind that the reason teams are able to platoon guys at DH recently is because of the diminished market for some of these players. Whereas in the past, it was probably more difficult to afford a platoon such as this, it seems like there are some players on the market with some special skillsets that can be had at an affordable price, allowing such platoons to become more feasible.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Only if Borass and the Tigers are doing it together. Well I thought that is what Jason was suggesting. He mentioned "Boras and the Tigers being in tight." I took that as meaning they were in cahoots. I tried to point out in my response to him that Boras has plenty of imagination himself to do this without any help from the Tigers.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) Stop and think about that for a second. Not only does it sell to their fans that they are "trying" to land a free agent, but it also forces a rival to potentially spend more than they wanted to spend. Its genius. It's also collusion.
