QUOTE (That funky motion @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) It was on the Score. Was this the Spanish name you heard?

QUOTE (That funky motion @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) He said a Spanish name as the other player( not reyes) but I cant remember his name. Umm, Beltran? Fernando Martinez?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 12:32 PM) I agee, I don't understand that. Heilman wants to be a starter. Unless that something else is something huge like Beltran, it makes no sense. Well, you trade Swisher, you trade Dye, you continue building a young core, and guess what you suddenly find yourself with a lot of? Money, money, money, money, mooooonnnnnnney.

Has anyone heard any new updates?

Why would we want Furcal if scouts are saying Beckham will be our regular 2b by June? I can see Roberts, because the term is shorter, but not Furcal. I would hope this would free us up to acquire either an ace pitcher or a CF with speed.... Otherwise, I don't really see the point of this...

As much as I like the activity, I just don't like the sounds of this... I'd be much more interested in what the secondary effects of what this trade will be...

After the bullpen in 07' and the second half of 08', why the hell are we going to be looking to move Dotel or any of our other relievers? I can see moving Jenks, if you really think you're getting value back, because of his upcoming salary concerns, but why move other relief help that we still need ourselves? The real question for me becomes, who is Kenny trying to clear salary to acquire?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) The Rays do love prospects. The Sox don't have a ton of those, but, there are some. The Rays hit quite a bit of homers last year themselves...I just don't see them wanting to move Crawford for a package of Dye and spects...doesn't seem like it really does much at all for them.... Seems like Edwin and a spect coming our way is much more likely...
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 11:39 AM) Its possible that more than just JD could be coming from the Sox side, and that puts Crawford and anyone else in play as a possibility. Of course, but who? Jenks? I can't really think of what else they might need...
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) Yeah. They want Jermaine Dye and are dangling Carl Crawford to get him. When, Lord? When will people stop ALWAYS bringing up Carl Crawford!?!??! For once we agree, Steve. If we are moving Dye, I would think it has to be to a cost-cutting move...
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 11:31 AM) I said in September that is who we would go after. I still believe it. I'd be shocked if the Rays would entertain that notion with Dye being the main piece coming from our end...

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 10:25 AM) I could see Aybar and an arm. I think KW likes Jackson a lot. Do we have a need for Aybar now that we have Betemit?
-
Edwin Jackson, anyone? For whatever reason, I would be surprised if he were not part of the deal... Who else might we be interested in? Any ideas?
-
Wooo! Great signing Kenny! Now let's move Josh the heck out of here...

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) No Eddie Vedder? Exactly. His may have strayed a bit, but his work on PJ's first two albums is freaking unbelievable. Should be top 10 in my opinion.

FYI - GBeck has a blog about playing in the AFL

I already want his jersey.... -
So I moved to Vegas about 4 months ago and one of the immediate perks I realized was that the Winter Meetings this year are being held at the Hilton Convention Center here in town. My roommate and I are both planning on going and loitering about as much as we possibly can. Has anyone ever been to the Winter Meetings before? Do they restrict access to certain parts of the hotel? All of the hotel? Where is the best place to see reporters, GM's, etc.... We are hoping to sort of hang out in the hotel bar and take in as much of the circus as possible...

Wow, I am one smart cookie....

Not sure if this has been posted or mentioned yet, but Rosenthal wrote an article which sort of backs up what many here think about the trade, i.e., that it is a prelude to something else, this morning. Here is the link. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8793068...3162&ATT=49

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 12:17 PM) I loved the attitude OC brought. It appears as though Ozzie may get a bit threatened when one or more of his players displays a similarly boisterous attitude in the dugout/clubhouse. Obviously this is all speculation, but it appears as though he enjoys being the one and only center of attention....

I'm going to withhold judgement until I see more of Marquez, but I am truly disappointed things didn't work out here for Swish....

This has nothing to do with the Twins. We are not the Twins. We are the White Sox. What the Twins did they did out of financial necessity. What this is is not financial necessity, but rather to reposition the organization. The two things are entirely different. Not necessity. Strategery, as the great W would say.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 04:13 PM) If you compare the two statements, I was basically pointing out that Kenny certainly does not love Javy... especially not after last year. As for Beltran, you'd assuredly have to get that contract partially paid, which I don't believe would be an issue. Maybe even finally get Heilman. I was saying Kenny likes Javy in the context of the last several years. Simply because he is looking to move him doesn't mean it has anything to do with Kenny....it's not as if anything happened with Ozzie towards the end of the season...

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) That's like saying Omar Minaya loves bees as much as anyone in "My Girl", including Macaulay Culkin's character. Is it? Minaya has been on Javy as much as anyone in the league over the past several years. Are you going to be here all week, Steve?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) Well, Beltran, Martinez, and another prospect or two and I'd be as happy as a pig in s***. Beltran's numbers have been quite good lately, but he's on the wrong side of thirty and he makes nearly $19 million annually approximately for the next five years. I'm not particularly interested in that. We get Beltran AND Martinez back from them, and what does their outfield look like now? And in 2010?
