  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 10:25 AM) The bottom line is there are plenty of other areas to improve while Jay is under contract that will contribute to the Bears winning. And this nonsense about "the Bears will never win a Super Bowl with Jay Cutler" is just ridiculous. Why exactly? With the defense as bad as it is, Jay is either going to take the Bears to the promise land or he isn't. It goes through him and the offense. And nothing in his time with the Bears has led me to believe he's THAT good.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 02:44 AM) Well, she f***ed and fell in love with an American Terrorist, I think it's right in line with her being a terrible human being. Also, does her baby have Down Syndrome? It kind of looked that way some times, and then not like it other times. Figured it would have been mentioned though if she did. I mean that's the huge problem with the show and why it went from great to bad - she's supposed to be complicated, not terrible, but everything she's done makes you despise her. It's completely unbelievable that all the things she did in seasons 2 and 3 would result in her staying with the CIA and not in jail. But here we are. And I think the lack of a connection with her baby is understandable, and a very real issue for some women, but they didn't need to go that extra step. And no I don't think the baby has DS. She's just an ugly baby, as most are.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 09:15 PM) All but one of those remained awful! What? No way. Friends was great for 4-5 years. HIMYM was good for a few. New Girl has been decent (last season was meh). Mulaney could be terrible but you can't base that on the pilot alone.

QUOTE (juddling @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 12:23 PM) FWIW...a couple reviews I read said it gets better around episode 3. I figure I'd give it a few shows before I bail on it. Then again....knowing FOX....might not make it that long. Nearly all comedies are awful to start. Seinfeld was terrible. Friends was terrible. HIMYM wasn't great. New Girl was terrible. It's tough to set up a world and be funny. That takes time.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 04:08 PM) Homeland premiere wasn't bad. I'll watch ep 2 later. Read after you watch it.
  6. 1) I'm more excited than i should be for this pre season game and the season generally. Hope to see McBuckets and the hype with Mirotic. 2) The Bulls need an update to their intro graphics.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) Even more laughable. At this point, you're just hating on Jay Cutler for the sake of doing it. There's people who defend Cutler to no end and then there's people like you who find every reason to bag on him. It's not like I'm looking that hard for reasons to criticize him... he makes the case for me.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 01:26 PM) Hard to argue that he doesn't have his faults...I was extremely frustrated with him over the course of the last 6 quarters, but you're completely ignoring the good and just focusing on the bad. Because the bad costs games? He could throw for 400 yards and 3 TD's every week, but if he's also throwing picks in the 4th that costs his team the game he's still not going to be a "good" QB in my book.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 01:21 PM) Jenks, I don't know where the hell you have been for the last 2 + years, but half the throws into Marshall are when he is surrounded by defenders. The only difference between that interception and the scores of balls he catches is that he dropped the ball and a defender snagged it. You guys can't ignore the countless times Jay fits these passes in for big completions and then just complain about the one that gets picked off. That's what this offense is - big, strong receivers that use their body and technique to catch passes in traffic. And yes, the defense created some turnovers, but they also got completely gashed for 2/3 of the game when Carolina had zero of their top 3 running backs and Cam is nowhere near as effective running the ball as he was in years past. You're right, and he gets picked a lot because of it. I don't have a problem throwing it into a tight window when it's one on one or when he's throwing it into a zone. I have a problem with him throwing it up in the air for someone to catch when it's one on three. Marshall is good, he's not THAT good. And again, time and place. It's not necessary to make that throw, just like it wasn't necessary to make that throw in the Bills game. And while I agree that Jay does a lot of good, there are a lot of QB's in the league (and out of the league) who can make good throws and score points. Jay is obviously an average to good QB, let's not take what I say to mean he's an absolute train wreck every week. But for what he has in physical talent, and what he has on the field, it's just flat unacceptable. And it's ludicrous that fans, including many on this board, look past that and complain that he didn't get that PI call, as if that matters.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 12:59 PM) Bennett makes that catch late in 1st half and we might have another TD. Don't know for certain and we could have still ended up having to kick a FG and gotten that or missed. But more time comes off the clock and Panthers would get worse position. That was a huge change in momentum and helped get the Panthers back into the game and feeling good at half. They come out with a great drive and really turn momentum and we had some poor penalties and some real ineffective rushing in 2nd half. Jay was pretty limited in 2nd half. They didn't seem to let him do much at all and his one pick, I still think might have been a penalty but at least it wasn't a boneheaded throw. It sailed on him which will happen to any QB in the league. In general, he's been much better then years past, but offense continues to not do the little things and they have lost a few games on the details and it is unacceptable. People keep arguing this point as if it's a better throwing mechanic, decision making, etc., when in reality he's playing marginally better due to a massive improvement in the talent around him. He's still Cutler. He still makes dumb decisions with the ball at the absolute worst times.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 12:55 PM) 1 return td and then we had a stupid penalty that negated a long return and pinned us back inside the 10. Oh and a missed field goals. It was still an F on special teams. I thought the return TD fumble was on offense. I was out smoking ribs at that point in the game, and 6 beers in. Either way, call it 25% special teams, 75% offense. As Balta keeps saying, the talent and philosophy of this team is offense, and they are not delivering.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 12:53 PM) Your hatred of Jay Cutler seems to be more important than the Bears being in a better position to win. Hey I would have been clapping with everyone else if they had called PI and set the Bears up for another score. But in an argument about whether Jay played well or not, I'm not going to give him a pass because of it. It was a terrible decision, interference call notwithstanding.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 11:41 AM) It was probably Pass Interference but it was a throw into triple coverage. There was zero reason to throw the football in that situation. All things considering, its funny cause results haven't worked out, but from a pure evidence perspective, Jay has been far better this year then years past and it still doesn't seem to matter. He just makes some really poor decisions and inopportune times. Play calling was just pathetic though. I'd have thought John Shoop was calling the game for most of the 2nd half. Just so vanilla and bland and I don't understand why we aren't throwing some deep shots down the field to keep them honest...not to mention we have Alshon on the team. Also, is it me, or does Jay throw a lot of picks/near picks in the direction of Holmes. Dilfer was on today and continues to say this is the best he's seen Jay look and he's totally bought in and doing things right, etc, and to be patient. Jay is so much more poised, etc, and it is pretty evidend to me, but results aren't pretty. Albeit, in a lot of the games, his plays were magnified because other people made some pretty brutal mistakes (see special teams...costly drops..costly penalties...defense giving up a ton of points in 2nd half..Forte fumbles...Marshall fumbles..etc). All that said, he's the QB. Still, season is early but losing the two most winnable games on schedules hurts (Buffalo / Carolina). Carolina is in 1st place in their division though and Lions lost, which was huge. The NFL is just all about paradoy. Key to this season is if team can start doing little things right. If they can, I still think they sneak into playoffs, if not, they are in trouble and we should see some pretty big changes (none of them being Jay or Trestman...barring some unforeseen disaster) and most of them being defense / special teams. Agree with a lot of this. My biggest issue is they have no desire to crush teams. Keep going for touchdowns. Knock them out before the end of the half. Too many conservative play calls. And I think that's partly Trestman simply not trusting Jay. I think that's why we're seeing a lot of screens. They're good at them, for one, but Jay can't f*** it up either.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 10:50 AM) And he would have caught it if there wasn't pass interference. The idea of throwing into triple coverage isn't smart, but that INT also shouldn't have happened because there should have been a penalty. For an officiating crew that gave out 25 penalties a game coming into the game, they sure decided to swallow their whistles for something so obvious. LOL. I'm sorry, this is just laughable. I'm glad the refs didn't call it. You don't reward stupidity. That throw was a terrible decision, and completely unnecessary at that stage in the game.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 12:44 PM) Well, at the very least Special Teams played a part in that. That's true, a little. But even then, you make some moronic mistakes and you're 10 yards further back than you should be. It's not like they gave up 1-2 return touchdowns. A longer field doesn't help, but it's not as much of a factor as a moronic QB throwing moronic throws. Or the offensive line choking on the biggest drive of the game.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 10:17 AM) They certainly can beat any of those teams, and honestly, I feel more comfortable on the road than at home these days (yesterday notwithstanding). Lol, they can beat Green Bay and New England on the road? What are you drinking? Atlanta maybe, because they're Atlanta. The Lions maybe, because their offense is banged up. But 1% chance against the other two. Brady or Rogers would have to get hurt.
  17. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 10:08 AM) Jared Allen and Lamar Houston have been huge free agent busts. Should have just signed Willie Young and spent the rest of that money on some safeties. Better safeties wouldn't help. This defense (and all defenses really) need a decent pass rush. And the linebackers can't be slow (Briggs) or still learning (Bostic) or just not good (Williams).
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 10:10 AM) I don't think Jay is dumb or does dumb things. I think Jay is incredibly confident, to the point of arrogance, and perhaps selfishness, in his abilities. The bad interception that was intended for Holmes was not a "dumb" throw, btw. It was an errant throw, yes, but he was open. Up until that point Jay had been extremely accurate (granted, the emphasis was on short passes yesterday), and that one just got away. How do you just completely ignore the moronic interception to Marshall in triple coverage? That's pee-wee level stupidity and Cutler does it at least once in 14 out of 16 games a year. And how can you say this is a TEAM loss? f*** that. The offense lost that game. Mostly the players, some on the coaches. The defense basically gave you the first 21 points. Turnovers and short fields. The offense, on their own, did a bunch of nothing, all game. The "vaunted" Bears offense that was going to be near the top of the league. LOL, what a f***ing joke that was/is.
  19. This team is incredibly lucky to not be 0-5 right now. Just terrible.
  20. How dare you question Jay! It's [insert any noun]'s fault!!!
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 02:59 PM) I'm a pretty big fan of Trestman but we have had an extremely conservative offense yet we still make all the mistakes associated with a high risk one You have a moron leading the offense so... Trestman can't keep Jay from making "f*** it I'm Jay Cutler" decisons.
  22. Are you guys kidding me???? Why the f*** is he throwing into triple coverage? Jesus.
  23. Did you guys see this? http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/p...1001-story.html
  24. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 11:20 AM) As long as you spend within your means and don't go overboard I think it's fine. Let's face it Jenks, women by nature are more materialistic and want nice things, and this is probably one of the most important material things they'll ever get. You don't buy the ring to impress other people, IMO you buy it because it's what she wants/deserves/what you want to give. That doesn't mean it has to come with a certain dollar amount attached to it, but you want to get something she'll be proud to wear for the rest of her life. You want it to look good and you want her to feel good about that. You can do that on various budgets. You just don't want to purposely go cheap and try to spin it as "well honey this will help with a better dishwasher 10 years from now!" Sure, it's the thought that counts and what it represents, and if it was me I'd be fine wearing something out of a cracker jack box and buying something else, but it's different for a woman when it's something of this magnitude. We can all sell it that the ring is for her and not for other people, but 75% or more of the reason a girl wants the big ring is to show it off. If it was all sentimental value, a $100 ring would suffice. But they want the bling. Women are weirdly competitive that way. But I agree, don't sell it like "we can be cheap now so we can buy an appliance later." Buy something nice and be happy with it. I'm just saying don't get crazy. I spent a TON on my wife's ring, and we spent a TON on our wedding (in-laws chipped in a bit, but it was all us). I would gladly take that very, very large sum of money we spent for one day (and a lifetime of memories and all that rah, rah stuff) and put that towards a next level house. A house we live in 24/7/365. I think my wife mostly agrees. And I'm not saying I don't love the ring I got or that I didn't love my wedding day. Best day/night of my life, but when you look at the big picture, it's just a big party that you spend an outrageous amount for. A backyard BBQ with an informal ceremony would have been just as fun and pocket change in comparison.
