I thought Lebron's mom and West was legit? Didn't someone have photos or emails or something?

It's a debunked rumor.

I just see an issue with this when you have upsets in the tournament, as you do every year. Middle tier teams that may win one game or may win it all. Are you going to get the walk-up crowds that you would normally get in Chicago or Indy?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2014 -> 03:07 PM) Measuring by what? Money? Using my estimates from before, which may even be high, 1% would mean he made $150k over 10 years. That's pretty bad for the amount of time/energy he puts into that place. And the control factor is fine, but it's still not very logical. If he sells the place he washes his hands of it, so it's not like his name will be tarnished. If he's going to just close up shop and never return, it makes zero sense. If he's closing up shop for a couple of years to try something new with the option of coming back, or maybe to entice more offers, then it makes sense.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2014 -> 02:05 PM) I'd be shocked if it were anywhere near 8%. The people I know the industry are talking about more like 1-2% in the low cost sector. If he's making 1-2% with that kind of following/publicity, he's the worst restaurateur ever.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2014 -> 01:32 PM) The thing you are leaving out is it is hot dogs. No matter how good they are, you can only charge so much for them. Again, the margins are just tiny in this sort of a business. Even if his costs are small, so are the dollars he is bringing in. He isn't slinging $50 steaks. We are talking about $3 hot dogs. I bet it adds up. Let's assume he serves 500 people a day with an average order of $10 bucks. Let's assume he's open 300 days a year. That's 15 million he's made over the last 10 years. Even if he makes 8% on that you're talking 1.2 million.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) Profit margins are sooo tiny in the food business. My friends and I are debating this over email right now. My arguments: (1) I bet he pays next to nothing for his location, (2) he has very little staff - himself, 2-3 bus boys, 2-3 cooks. I'm sure they're not making much more than minimum wage. (3) it's a cash-only business, (4) the food, while unique, isn't all that complex. It's not like he has to stock an entire kitchen for 40 entrees, (5) he has a 2 hour wait every day he's open, (6) he's been on national TV shows and won all sorts of national awards. Still, even if he hasn't pulled in that much, surely the place is worth that much. He should have opened up a couple of restaurants by now, but even though he didn't a buyer would. I think he could get several millions easy if he wanted to sell.

Yeah I posted this in the catch all thread. Why isn't he selling? Take that lump sum of millions and go retire on an island somewhere.

I've been happy with U-Verse internet. 24/mbs speed for $42/month after fees. I've been on a sweet retention deal for a year and actually just re-upped for another year at this price yesterday. And it's a legit 24, even at night.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 6, 2014 -> 11:09 AM) So it doesnt have "airplay" features? It does. But at least with Netflix and HBO, your phone commands the Chromecast where to go and what to do. The Chromecast then independently connects to the internet and the Netflix/HBO servers. Maybe MLB's app is different, but I doubt it. If the issue is choppiness after the video has begun, it's an internet/chromecast issue, not an S4 issue.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 6, 2014 -> 08:33 AM) Delaney has such a hard on for the east coast, hopefully they don't completely move these events to the east coast because it's going to really upset all the midwestern fans. Keep Chicago as the main site for the event (every other year) then alternate DC/Indy the other years and I wouldn't be too upset. Still, how empty is that stadium going to be? hopefully no one shows and they'll see what a colossal mistake it was.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2014 -> 06:57 AM) The season finale of Vikings was great. I knew Flokie wouldn't trade out Ragnar. Though Byorn letting the killers of Ragnars sons go is going to come back in spades. Those weren't Ragnars sons. They were Horiks. Ragnar had all the sons killed. Byron let some of the daughters go, although they might have been Horiks slaves, I couldn't tell.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 5, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) Can it stream prime? More of it has to do with my galaxy's S4's inability to keep a solid wifi signal (and no it is not my wifi at my house) it is the piece of s*** wifi on the S4's (and a known problem...just like their relatively s***ty bluetooth as well). As a result, Iget pretty choppy issues. Also have had all kinds of issues with MLB.TV streaming through chrome (and no issues on my PS3). Again, might not be the Chrome's problem but when my primary use of the Chrome is to stream Sox games to my TV and that doesn't work well, well, it annoys me. I've already said on many occasions, as soon as I can I am running away from android cause it is nowhere near as smooth of an O/S as the Apple one. Does it get choppy after the video starts? Chromecast has it's own wifi, so it really shouldn't matter if your phone sucks unless it's a command issue.

I read somewhere (247sports maybe?) that Thomas was Illinois' to lose. They're in very good with him. That'd be a heck of a pull for Groce if it happens.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
I'm not even trying to argue Durant is better than Lebron. All I'm saying the hype for the two were/are not the same. They don't have the same expectations based on their histories. That's why they're treated differently. That, and as Zoom pointed out, you gotta give Durant another few seasons to potentially fail.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
You're honestly telling me the LeBron coverage was typical? That he didn't have crazy expectations from the get go? More so than your typical top prospect?

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 1, 2014 -> 08:13 PM) Also, giving him s*** because he "talks" is silly. Dozens of players talk big. Hell, Dion Waiters thinks he's big s***. By talk I mean anointing himself King. And that minor Decision nonsense.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 1, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) Please find one quote that's anything along the lines of "Lebron will be one of the 10 best players of all time" before the draft. Of course it started when he was in the league because he was raping people. Being deemed The Chosen One as a junior isn't enough? Or the heir to MJ?

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 1, 2014 -> 08:08 PM) That's a different argument than saying he has a weak team. Lebron is older than Durant. If KD goes a few more years without a ring and loses a couple series they "should have won" like Lebron did, he'll start catching s***. Last year was the first time they "choked" and Westbrook missed the series. This is a much more reasonable position than J4L.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
But people talked that way with LeBron. And then he talked/acted that way once he got to the league. Durant was never like that.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 1, 2014 -> 07:54 PM) Yeah, poor Durant. He only gets to play with another multi-time All-Star, had several years with a guy that might be All-NBA this year, and a guy that'd easily be an All-Star big in the East. They have plenty of talent, albiet they're top-heavy. Right but Durant didn't put that together and then brag about winning a bunch of titles. Like I said, LeBron wants and creats the attention. Durant doesnt. That's why they're not treated the same.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 1, 2014 -> 07:50 PM) Um, both of them? I don't care who it is, you don't generally predict guys to win multiple MVP's (Durant will get at least one more). Bull. LeBron was the 2nd coming in high school. Durant was never, ever thought of that way.
