QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:07 PM) I think 2/3 of most coaches jobs are reminding players how to do the basics. Lol, ok.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:06 PM) I know you think Lovie was horrible and should never deserve any credit for anything whatsoever. If this were a Lovie coached team you would have been gushing over the 2 absolute fluke interceptions they got in the first half instead of blaming Tucker: "Well, Lovie coached them to turn the ball over! Bears D is keeping them in it. NOT LOVIE'S FAULT, HE IS A GOD AMONG MEN!"

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) I think that says a lot about Tucker. What? What does it say? It says his players are morons. An NFL coach should not have to remind his players how to play basic defense. "Hey guys, remember to tackle! Hey guys, remember you have to get the guy to the ground before he's down!" I mean seriously, find a different scapegoat.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) I think that says a lot about Tucker. You're right, he should have told all of these old guys to f*** off, we're playing my brand of defense. Instead he caved to the veterans who promptly got hurt for the season/majority of the season. Tucker is about 20th on the list of problems with the Bears defense.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) It's exactly the coach's fault when his players are making terrible plays like that. They're professionals!!!! How many years have they been playing?! Does an NFL defensive coordinator really have to remind his team to keep playing until the whistle blows? And how many of these guys played for Lovie? Did they suddenly forget everything he taught them? I mean come on man. That was basic football.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 24, 2013 -> 10:45 AM) Good thing I never made such a ridiculous claim that liberals don't harass people for their beliefs or statements. Otherwise I'd look pretty silly right now. In case you forgot, my argument was that conservatives also harass people or try to get them fired. I argued about celebrities/TV personalities getting in trouble for giving an opinion on a topic. So far you've given the one example of the CNN guy who talked about s***ting in someone's mouth. That's not really controversial from a political standpoint, that was just vulgar and unprofessional. Edit: sorry, you did give the Dixie Chick example too, but that's not really comparable either. People said stop buying their music. I don't recall anyone saying they should be "fired" or that the record industry should stop working with them.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 21, 2013 -> 11:37 PM) That's a great way of saying "I've got nothing" edit: also remembered this Guns & Ammo freak-out when one of the editors published an article support some very mild forms of gun control edit2: also, too, the harassment of the "pajama boy" from an OFA ad about Obamacare to the point where the National Review has written at least six articles on it at this point, his name and address have been widely published and he's had to try to delete his entire online presence thanks to the hordes. All because he appeared in an image in an ad. But, hey, liberals. This guy at least worked for OFA. The woman who happened to be in the stock photo that was on healthcare.gov was just some random model who has been heavily harassed. Again, damn liberals. http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2013/12/2...and-euthanized/ Liberals...

I've found that in AC4 I have a bit of OCD. Anytime I find an island with random stuff on it, I have to find everything before moving onto the next mission.

Christmas Eve
I'm working. We get a "half day" today, but i'm sure i'll stay until 2 or 3. I think working any time this week is pretty dumb. In the law world, no one really works this week. Judges take vacations, no one is planning deps or anything. It's really slow. And I end up chatting on here all day.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
Here's my issue with it - one top 6 pick ever 5 years is pretty rough if your turn falls in a s***ty draft and your team sucks. To me this doesn't really help the bottom teams. I much prefer Simmons single elimination tournament idea and/or averaging multiple seasons together to find out who's the worst.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 02:16 PM) Fair enough. Damn a few years, that's nuts. So is there anyway that he gets off with probation and is released or he's definitely going to the slammer? I have no clue. I'm assuming a 300k bond means he's looking at a sentence, but i'm not a criminal lawyer.

So the NFC North Champ will get the #4 seed. And Romo. Always causing his team to lose.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 01:03 PM) What is serious time? The guy has a couple of cheap mattresses, a lamp and stand for it. A old tube TV and a stand for it. clothes/toiletries. That's about it. I would think he'd do a few years with all of those priors, but maybe that's aggressive. And yeah, so that's all basically worthless stuff. Even if he had some kind of case against you for not holding onto his stuff long enough what are the odds he spends the money to file a case in court to get it back?

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 12:37 PM) I don't get how a person that is not even on the lease is afforded all of these rights. I have to pay for everything if he f***s up. We signed a gentlemens rental agreement that says when rent/utilities are due, and that we need to give each other 30 days notice for him leaving or me to kick him out. I'm not sure how legal kosher that is but seriously, that's a lot of rights afforded to someone that could seriously be my guest. How much stuff is there? And how valuable is it? I'm all about protecting yourself from unnecessary problems down the line, but realistically this guy is going to be doing some serious time. I think so long as you act reasonable and provide him notice of what you're doing you should be fine.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) I have heard the "WE NEED MIKE DITKAS FIRE AND PASSION" call multiple times this morning The complaints about Trestman/Tucker not motivating the players enough is really annoying. Playing for a division title and a spot in the playoffs should be motivation enough for professional athletes.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 09:54 AM) I was comparing 20 points vs. 11 points both vs. horrible defenses. If it's on McCown the Bears only scored 20 vs. Minnesota, how can it not be on Cutler if they only score 11 vs. Philadelphia? IIRC they left like 14 pts on the board with some awful play calling by Trestman and running by Bush.

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 09:25 AM) Haven't we seen that a billion times now? Not funny anymore. Timberlake's impression of him was pretty good though. It cracks me up when done at the appropriate time, i.e., when whatever is happening is hilarious as hell and you can't fault the guy for breaking. Timberlake's impression of Fallon was spot on and it caused Fallon to break. Will Ferrell's old prospector bit was the same. The audience feels in on it because they're laughing for the same reason. It's bad when a guy like Horatio Sanz would just start laughing and break for no reason. That becomes more of an inside joke that the audience isn't in on.

Really this game is showing why there's nothing to get excited about even if they do win next week. Pretty much every other playoff team has a good offense and there are three really good defenses.
