  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) May as well keep it open. Arizona still has a ton of prospects and they always made the most sense to begin with. It really hinges around the dbacks giving up Bradley. If so they have enough workable pieces to get a deal done. Same goes for Seattle and Walker.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 02:15 PM) So yeah, what plans for our OF now? RF Garcia CF Eaton LF De Aza DH Viciedo
  3. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 02:12 PM) They already had Adam Dunn in 2008 for about 3 weeks after the non-waiver deadline passed, meaning he cleared waivers. I doubt they wanted him back. I dont get this deal at all for AZ. That's a lot to give up for a one-dimmensional player. It just goes to show that there is a real premium on power in the post-PED's era. Players like Trumbo and Dunn still have a lot of value because they still hit a tremendous amount of HR's.
  4. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 02:11 PM) Who is sending the PTBNL? One from the Angels and one from the Sox.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 02:04 PM) Kendrick back in the equation? no
  6. From mlbtr The hevaily rumored three-team trade between the Angels, Diamondbacks and White Sox has been completed, a source tells Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. Mark Trumbo and a pair of players to be named later will head to the Diamondbacks, Adam Eaton will join the White Sox and Hector Santiago and Tyler Skaggs are headed to the Angels
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:59 PM) Bro, he's not Grady Sizemore. Meanwhile... TUESDAY: A team that spoke to the Phillies about Brown informed ESPN's Jayson Stark that Philadelphia doesn't sound enthused about the idea of moving Brown and is looking for two to three young players in return (Twitter link) MONDAY: The Phillies are "actively shopping" Domonic Brown with an eye toward selling high on him in an effort to acquire controllable young pitching, reports Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (on Twitter). Dayan, Beck, Rienzo/Snodgress, and Hawkins? Could that be a thing? No. Just no.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:58 PM) He just learned additional players may or may not be exchanged? What a scoop. You really have to be an insider to come up with that. Thats not a real update.
  9. There has been nothing in the rumors that the Sox are receiving anything beyond Eaton. Lots of names thrown around that could be, but nothing indicating it is more than Eaton. I think it is on the low side, but probably not crazy. Really depends if the prospect is actually good or more of a throw in.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:44 PM) Buh bye Alejandro. Not necessarily, ADA in LF significantly improves the teams defense.
  11. Wonder if the Sox are targeting Conger as well, would fit in pretty well and allow LAA to deal from a position of depth. Allegedly Sox had interest in Conger already this winter.
  12. Wouldn't be shocked to see Dunn thrown into the deal to DH for the Angels and take Trumbos spot in the lineup. That may be why the Sox would be giving up a prospect.
  13. Acquiring Brown is akin to acquiring a young(er) Adam Dunn. He is bad against LHP now and will get worse, has a ton of left handed power, but no capacity to play any position other than DH at this time.
  14. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 09:13 AM) Here's a Sale trade I might think about: Sox trade: Sale Quintana Reed Phils trade: Hamels Papelboner DBacks trade: EVERYONE GOOD Sox get: Hamels Papelbon's s***ty contract EVERYONE GOOD from AZ Phils get: Quintana Reed Tons of $$$$$ savings AZ gets: Sale Sox swap Sale for Hamels, Reed for 'Boner, and use Q + $$$ savings to buy a new farm Thats not good. Sox have to add like $30M in payroll each season. Not sure who everyone good includes, but the payroll side of things alone makes it untenable.
  15. QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 11:16 PM) Cahill and Skaggs for Trumbo and his .299 OBP? Holy s*** Kevin Towers is stupid. Its Cahill or Skaggs, and sounds like Skaggs is the guy. I wouldn't mind seeing the Sox getting in the middle of the deal and sending Santiago to the Angels and Trumbo to the Dbacks and getting someone like Eaton or Davidson back.
  16. I wonder if they could be targeting Nieto in the minor league portion of the Rule V draft, that means he would have to be on the AA roster all season, right?
  17. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:49 AM) I'm sure they could get both if they really wanted to. Who's in front, Astros and...? Sox could make a small deal. The thinking with ANY Rule-5 IMO has to be Flowers (out of options) vs. Rule-5 pick, and if both look good in ST then you start the season with both, otherwise it's just 1 roster spot. Keeping 2 Rule-5 picks on the roster would be very difficult obviously, but you could trade for both just to have that competition in Spring while knowing you'd return one. Whoever would make it just has to be on the 25-man or DL through the season to be kept, and then he could go back to the minors if he had to. I was thinking they might be able to add another bullpen arm in the draft and start Webb and Petricka back in AAA. Someone like Freddy Lewis (LHRP) or Brody Colvin (former Phillies #1 prospect) if they had enough slots to make two picks. Yes the history of rule V picks isn't great, but you want to give your self the best opportunity to hit the jackpot on your lottery ticket.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:24 AM) Why? If the scouting department likes him over Carlos Perez or any other Rule 5 eligible catcher, then bring him in. There's next to no risk involved. Best case scenario is that you get a starter and perhaps a very good starter out of the process. Worst case scenario is that you return them back and you're out $25K, which is chump change for a major league team. Because Nieto is 23 in A ball and Perez is 22 and has made it to AAA. Nieto would be completely overmatched against big league pitching, at least Perez might be able to adjust given his experience at different levels. How many picks do the Sox get to make? Do they still have two slots open since Bellisario and Paulino signed after 12/2?
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 05:01 PM) Anyone getting the assumption that if Sox do somehow deal Danks that Hahn will go hard after Tanaka? No, because if we sell on Danks at his lowest possible value, which we would be doing now, we would have to pick up salary and that would take us out of the running for Tanaka. There is no plus to dealing Danks at this point.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) Mere speculation, but I'm thinking this is the A's and Michael Choice Or possibly whichever team is on the verge of acquiring LoMo.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 04:26 PM) You know a team I could see getting into this discussion, Boston. The Yankees as well, although I do not think they have the pieces. Boston and the Yankees can outspend and paper over mistakes, a team like Arizona cannot. The Dodgers as well but they seem to have more pitching then they need already. Actually if Kenny Williams was a GM somewhere, I could see him gutting a farm system for it although he would never have a farm system with enough pieces to begin with. The Dodgers are after Price, so they dont seem to think that they have enough pitching. The Dodgers and Red Sox make sense, but I doubt they would give up what it would take to make a deal happen, especially Boston. Boston has the pieces, but not the incentive to move those pieces in a trade. The Dodgers problem is that they would have to either eat Kemps contract or give up Puig to get in the bdding for Sale.
  22. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) Sale is worth at least twice as much in prospects as Price. I just can't imagine a team willing to pay that price. And one reason is that the only reason a team would give up top prospects for an ace is because they are in a win now mode. Well they don't need the full 6 of Sale's cheap years....they just need 2 or 3. But we want to be paid for all 6. This is why Sale wont be traded. Not because he shouldn't be, but because no team in their right mind will give up what it will take to acquire him. It would be the ultimate win now move as they would deplete their organization of young talent.
  23. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 02:22 PM) http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/paulife01.shtml So 40 man is full now with Bellasario and Paulino, right?
  24. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) Someone who is making a case for a four or five year set back kindly expand their point? There are multiple holes in this team. How will losing your Ace while potentially filling two or three holes set you back five years? I agree, if anything it moves your timetable up so you are ready to contend in '15 and possibly as early as this season. Keeping Sale pushes your time frame back as you have to wait to develop players to fill the holes on the roster, and by the time they are all in place, your SP's are entering FA.
  25. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 11:57 AM) The DBacks have already said they aren't trading Bradley, so I guess we can just forget this. Of course, the Sox have said they aren't trading Sale, yet we're still talking about that too. Both have said they are willing to listen, from MLBTR While Towers was quick to say that no player is untouchable, he sounded loath to part with prized pitching prospect Archie Bradley, a consensus Top 10 MLB prospect. Asked about the possiblity of trading Bradley, he replied: "I don't see that happening. Not that anybody is untouchable, but we're hoping he's our David Price, and we can control him [for several years]. He's gonna get every opportunity to crack our rotation this spring ... He's not looking to make our rotation as the fifth guy -- he's looking to make it as the ace." Sounds like, much like Sale, while they are not looking to move him, they would in the right deal.
