DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
Clinton and Biden did well IMO, and the rest of the group was pretty average. Richardson surprised me by saying he thought Byron White would be his ideal Supreme Court Justice. Byron White was one of the most socially coservative justice before retiring in 1993. I thought Richardson's choice was odd, but then when Williams wanted him to mention "someone of the living," he chose Ruth B. Ginsburg, who is the most socially liberal justice on the current court. I don't think this debate will impact the race mainly because it is so far out from the primaries, plus there is less media focus now. I am a political junkie, so I love this stuff.

WCIU and blackouts (HD related ramblings)
My cable provider gives me Comcast, but not WCIU as I am downstate. The ESPN game last night was still blacked-out though.

Where KW is going with this team
QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 05:28 AM) Garland though at time inconsistent should give you 200 league average innings; thats nothing to scoff, the yankees would kill for someone like that right now[/url] Garland for Cano + a young SP?

The Devil (or Guillen's) Advocate (also criticisms)
It's too early for me to try say "if it keeps going this way, we will not make the playoffs" or something. The only possible negative trend I could see happening is the offense being overly-reliant on the long ball to win games.

Hermida
Anyone privy to when this guy comes off the DL? I have been holding him b/c I am in a super large yahoo league (18 managers), so if I dropped him there would be a chance he would get scooped up. Kenny Lofton is currently my main source of SBs, so is it worth my wait to hold onto him in hopes he performs well later in the year? Thanks for any input.

House passes Iraq Withdrawal bill
The Senate attempted to pass a similar measure a few weeks ago which essentially brings most of the soldiers out by '08 and it only received 48 votes. 60 votes would be needed to invoke cloture, which is a super-long shot in terms of troop withdrawl. 67 votes are needed to override a veto. Even if the bill is successfully modified out of conference to win over the likes of Coleman, Hagel, Snowe, etc. there is no chance it gets 67 votes.

I'll agree w/ that, and if I were a Dem adviser, I would lobby hard for Warner to be VP if Obama wins the nomination.

I'm of the belief that Richardson is trying to become an attractive Vice- Presidential option. He has more credentials than any other contender in the field, but I don't think primary voters will throw their lot in with him. It is unfair, yet probably true. Richardson along w/ Mark Warner are good bets to be Dem VP.

Obama Watch
There was a cable access TV interview Obama did right after the Senate vote in which he said he would vote like Durbin, which was nay. He spoke at length about the issue, but he left no doubt that he would vote against it. C-Span re-aired immediately following his Presidential announcement in Springfield.
