I am in this camp as well. I have been for a few years and even during last year's second-half disappointment. I found myself in complete agreeance with Mariotti, a columnist I despise 95% of the time who articulated my feelings on the issue: If a trade happens, I trust KW will pull it in the best interests of the team for the future, but I am very reluctant to support trading away #56 unlike El Duque, Garcia, McCarthy, and Rowand, all of whom I thought were correctly traded at the time of the deals.

"Vault and the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA)" is a private organization, unless it receives money from a government. Discrimination by private organizations is perfectly legal and has been enthusiastically supported by conservatives (e.g. Boy Scouts of America, Moose Lodge, etc.).

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) He dominated the Mexican League this past winter.

I don't understand why a forthcoming fire sale would be received exactly like the White Flag Trade. The situations for both teams ('97 and now) could not have been any more different.

I never knew this about Iguchi and my respect for him will drop if it is true. -
Also voting to increase the minimum wage: Inhofe, McConnell, Sessions, Hatch, Lott, and 89 other liberal pussy Senators. Also voting for stem cell research: Lott, Hatch, Frist, Burr, Lugar, Bennett, Cochran, etc. Also voting against flag desecration amdt: McConnell, Bennett (couple of liberal, RINO mavericks here) Hopefully those GOP critics find fodder to get these damn turncoats too! Obama first though!

QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) Was there ever anything that you would admit that you were wrong about - regarding this team - that turned into a good thing? Yes. In 2004, I thought that trading Reed, Olivo, and Morse would hurt the team's stability in the OF and C for years to come, but Garcia was a vital component of winning a world title. My post was not meant to be an I-told-you-so point, but a mere response to the thread claiming more people were b****ing about the rotation than the pen. In reality, I thought the pen was a far greater concern coming into the season, except I thought that all the way back in December.
-
I voiced concerns about how crappy our bullpen would become in the regular season back in December. I was promptly lambasted for my concerns to the pathetic responses of "Coop Will Fix Them" and "How could you find anything wrong w/ guys who throw 90+mph!?"

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) Romney is the GOP's version of John Edwards IMO, doubt either one of them will get the nomination. I was saying the same exact thing to my friend the other week, although I think Romney might have a better shot of getting his party's nomination.

Clinton, Obama, and Biden all did well last night. Richardson took some steps backwards, as some of his answers were unclear, and I was an early supporting of Richardson's candidacy. What I like about Biden is that when he gets fired up, he doesn't attack the front-runners to break out of the mass of second-tier candidates.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 04:28 PM) is he worth Dye, Fields, and Broadway as was posited? Without question, but TB does not want/need Dye.

Current trade market analysis

I guess I will be that "guy" who goes against conventional wisdom. I know in most eyes around here Boras is worse than Charles Manson and Hitler combined, so you stay away from all of his soon-to-be FA's, etc. For Tex, lock him up for many years if you can make the acquisition. -

Trade Danks/Fields for Teixeira, then move Tex to 3b, trade Crede to one of the aforementioned teams. I'm just messing around. -
He needs to cut back on throwing walks.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 17, 2007 -> 09:12 AM) Any chance we can package Crede and some minor league bullpen arms (Dewon Day) for Griffey? I wouldn't mind that deal the more I think about it. The only question I would then have is who plays 3b? In the hypothetical, I suppose you would call up Fields to start at 3b, then send Sweeney to AAA to start every day. Sending Sweeney down would become necessary as you need a position for Griffey (LF) as Thome occupies DH (pending he's healthy the rest of the year). It could produce this regular lineup: Erstad (CF) Iguchi (2B) Thome (DH) Dye (RF) Griffey (LF) Konerko (1B) Uribe (SS) Pierzynski (C ) Fields (3B) Not necessarily advocating that, but it was worth throwing the idea around.

Personally, I think Duncan Hunter is the best candidate of the group. Sure, he has no chance, but he's a thoughtful, unwavering conservative who has mastered critical political issues facing the country. I disagree with his positions almost all the time, but I am sick of hearing primary voters say they are "not comfortable" by the candidates in the Republican field.

Guillen leans toward demoting Sweeney

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 10, 2007 -> 10:43 PM) there isn't much competition in the AL for ROY... Sweeney v. Danks! -
Yes, I too am baffled about Ozzie's reasoning to go with Terrero over Sweeney. His reasoning, as noted earlier was "Terrero can cover all the outfield. That's the reason." Sweeney played RF after the Sept. callups of '06. He started in CF for the Knights in '07, and has been playing some solid LF in the majors. Of course, I also am the mind that Sweeney benefits playing every day in AAA over spending time on the bench in Chicago. Bottom line, send someone else down and let him play!

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) It didn't occur to most people that tax-and-spend is a heck of a lot better for the country than spend-and-spend, which is what the incumbent administration and Congress had been doing. Right on.

I watched MSNBC the day of the debates and they had co-hosts Tucker Carlson & Joe Scarborough. They went to Pat Buchanan as a monitor guest. Those three are very liberal in their views, and I could see them all jumping in the Dem. primary. I also hate the liberal media like those three.

How about trading for Josh Willingham? He has a good OBP, bats from the right side, has decent pop in the bat. He would certainly cost less than Rocco.

From the stats I have seen, I've been impressed with his low HR/9 rate. This has to bode well for Whisler given the high HR rate at U.S. Cellular.
