Today the Senate tabled Tom Coburn's amendment the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, which would have prohibited federal funds to replace a baseball field in Billings, Mt. Both Rep/Dem Leaders voted to kill the amendment.

I would trade Garland or Vazquez to the Phillies for Jason Donald + someone else that can contribute to the club. He would probably be too green for the job next season, but Uribe might be too terrible.

Considering how pathetic the Sox pen was this year, I don't see how they could not consider Perez a viable option to make the team.

I voted Walker, but I believe if the team fails to make the playoffs next year, KW should be fired.

I think that this was a semi-bad trade for the Sox, but not because of the season Young is currently having. Vazquez was brought in to help the team get back to the World Series in '06. He had some bad luck last season, but should have pitched much better. He has been excellent this year.

Rooney is someone I would love to see the Sox hire as TV play-by-play man along w/ Stone as the color commentator. Rooney used to do Fox game of the week, but Hawk and DJ are not going anywhere.

Maybe a Jordan Latham could be had in exchange for Pods? The guy hasn't turned 21, drafted in 29th round of the '06 draft, has more K's than IP, seems to keep the ball in the park, fits the mold of the types of pitchers Sox have been targeting.

Here is my take on it: Podsednik is hardly worth anything in a trade when healthy. He is worth nothing when not healthy. He is healthy now and if some contending team is desperate (ie Cubs), I would take whatever could be had for his services in a waiver deal.

Went to Miller w/ my Dad this evening. We sat behind home and I was pleased by the outcome.

Obama got it exactly right by saying that it he would not balk at ordering a strike against terrorists even if they were in Pakistan. This has been consistent w/ his position he stated in '04 that he was a hawk when it comes to terrorism at a Benedictine University forum. The reason I know is that I was there covering the Senate race for Downers Grove Reporter.
