  1. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) Honestly, I'm not sure anyone knows what is going on. The good news is, they continue to be listed as front runners for 2 of the 3. Sure looks like Upton is out. Which means they will probably get Upton. LMAO
  2. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 11:21 AM) Heyman seems to think the Sox are the faves to land Gordon. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-he...-more-mlb-notes Oh for the love of God will this roller coaster just end already?! Now back to Gordon?! I was already over that happening.
  3. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) Because clearly no one wants to play for the Sox, duh. Gordon is just trying to up the offer from KC, Cespedes the same but Baltimore. (/green) Not clearly but possible.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 04:55 PM) Why does a longer wait hurt our chances but not the chances of the other teams? If I was a Royals fan I would be encouraged by the wait. It means he is really torn and is trying to leverage them to get close so he can take their offer. IMO For Cespedes I just dont get the vibe that he is itching to come here. We have always heard about Sox interest in him but never heard anything about that feeling being mutual. Now of course it doesnt mean for sure that it isnt and I can totally just be reading way too far into a situation that isnt public.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 04:00 PM) Except the White Sox can actually close a deal. It wasnt really a not being able to close thing with those Bulls though, was it? From what I remember it was just guys liking to be wined and dined and use the Bulls as leverage. If these guys only intent are to use the Sox as leverage that is really going to suck. It seems like if they wanted to be here they would have been here by now but I could just be going crazy from the wait.
  6. You guys remember the feeling you had when the Bulls were trying to sign a FA (both times) and had the money but just could not get them to come here for whatever reason? As a fan you kind of had that feeling that is what was happening even though we heard they had mutual interest in a lot of cases. In the end it didn't turn out too well. I kind of get that same feeling with big FA's the Sox are targeting right now. I could be totally wrong, I know.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 03:32 PM) If anyone wants to confirm what rabbit has said feel free to do a quick search on Twitter. We don't need every post asking what he thinks. We need a lets judge everything rabbit says thread. Or a thread where everyone who feels they have a personal agenda to prove that he doesnt have good sources thread. I mean good god. He doesnt have to put that information out there. He isnt getting paid to do it nor is it making him a famous person (yet ).
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) Or allowed. I generally ignore Hayes and Merkin's "opinions" on things. They're fed what to say and not say. At this point, I'm perfectly fine waiting for the White Sox to tweet that they've signed X to a contract. I read into what Merkins says... by thinking about why are they feeding him THAT to say to the public?
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) Now a guy named Joe saying 6 years 132 mil. Joe sounds legit.
  10. Last night everything appeared to full steam ahead and it felt like something was going down any moment. This morning I check and its come right back around to a complete halt. I have to say I didn't expect that.
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 09:44 PM) Barry McCockiner – ‏@bonerpatrol69 Source: #WhiteSox agree to terms with Cespedes, Latos, Parra, Upton and all remaining free agents. To be officially announced within the next 3 month. 9:44 PM - 29 Dec 2015 You are so reliable Kalapse. Thanks for coming through with this. So many soxtalkers are getting their wish.
  12. To quote chisoxfanmike... I have a feeling something is going to happen soon!
  13. If we were giving two year contracts to either of these players and they would take them I would go with Gordon in heartbeat.
  14. Cespedes only because of age giving him the slight edge for me but I still feel like its rolling some heavy dice with him as well.
  15. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 05:08 PM) Maybe the Sox wanted Cespedes all along and are just using Alex Gordon and, earlier in the offseason, Justin Upton to drive his price down. With all three of them out there plus Fowler, Parra etc. it's a buyers market. Whatever happens people will say they used the one against the other to drive the prices down but we will never know. The might have used one against the other but they could just really be negotiating with both trying to get something done with either that they would be happy with.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) Merkin just now saying that Sox are going after one of the big 3. We've known that for about a month. He knows nothing other than the obvious. I could be wrong but when guys like him get in on it it means its close enough to happening that he is sure to not be wrong. Or he was given the ok from the team to put that out there.......iono anymore.
  17. It may be irrelevant but I just like the lineup better knowing there is a Lawrie in the bottom third of it. He at least has some capability of providing some offense but in a lineup that has Gordon in the two hole that bottom third of the order will be an anchor weighing that lineup down.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) To me, it doesn't matter. Cespedes still plays decent enough defense that his bat could be worth more runs than Gordon's defense and his bat in the end. Factor in the draft pick, Cespedes might be the better option. I am having the same thought but I just cant get past the wild card that Cespedes is happily traded by everyone that has had him on their team. He has to be such a douche. However the Tigers seem like they have some interest to bring him back so he cant be that bad, right?
  19. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) Rabbit says nothing is imminent but the Sox are waiting on Gordon. Brian Bilek ‏@ChiSoxraBBit I can't anything is imminent, but things are going to plan. #WhiteSox waiting on Gordon... https://twitter.com/ChiSoxraBBit/status/681868130252111872 Make up your mind Gordo. We are growing more impatient by the day and our threads are continuing to become more and more off track with each days that passes.
  20. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) @SSS_joshnelson I think the White Sox chances of signing Upton are pretty slim. Not for a lack of interest from the team, but more so from Upton's. So if they are willing to pony up the money to pay a guy like Upton who would theoretically come with a substantially higher price than Gordon they should be able to do whatever it takes to make a Gordon deal get done, right?
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) This sleet storm blows LOL Yeah, winter blows in general. Why i continue to put myself through hating winter every year I do not know.
  22. QUOTE (ron883 @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 03:59 PM) Hahn could have gained a ton of respect from me had he made the cold blooded move and signed one of the big 3 on Christmas. That would have taken BIG cajones and shown huge dedication. He didn't lose respect from me for not doing it, but my respect for him still remains low. Hopefully he can redeem himself to me and many other fans It would not matter in the grand scheme of things. The only thing that matters is that he ultimately gets it done and brings on another big bat. Whether that be Christmas or January 4th. I dont think Hahn cares about the impatience of message boards.
  23. I am trying to think of some strange twisted way this trade can force the dominoes to fall with the outfielders.......yeah.....no.
  24. He slow down the market these guys want J Heyward money now. Okay LOL
