  1. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:53 AM) I agree with you 100%. If the Sox would have traded Trayce for Lawrie a year ago this site would have been ecstatic. Then Trayce comes up and plays well in just a small handful of games and suddenly he's the future? It seems that people like to ignore the fact that the guy put up just low .700 OPSs in the minors and is actually 3 months older than Avisail Garcia who most on this board have written off and who had vastly superior AAA numbers. I think you guys may be downplaying the importance of how a guy plays when he hits the big stage. Its a huge deal to come up and play like you belong. But hey, maybe I am over playing the fact he played well on the big stage, iono.
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) I still think he improves this team dramatically just with his defense over Melky and Avi. Even if we sign Upton, I'd want Trayce out there. I think trading him creates a hole to fill one. I am with you. Improve in the other areas without giving him up and you can afford to have Trayce as a wildcard in the lineup. Maybe he will surprise some folks and come around offensively. If (big if, I know) he does you have a commodity that everyone in the league wants right now. Speed/defense and some pop.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) I loved what I saw from Trayce last year, but if you can use him as a main piece to acquire a young starting 3b...then nice job selling high on him. I actually didnt realize that Lawrie is only 25. Its seems like he has been in the league a long time.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) Thank you. I feel like I am the only one who isn't a Trayce believer. He had an incredible start, and a quick downturn to where he would be expected to hit. The defense is impressive, but I just don't see the bat being there. If he can get us a starting 3B, I am OK with that. I wouldn't say I am a full believer quite yet but with the tools he has its more of a roll of the dice that I would want to do for a mediocre third basemen at this point.
  5. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:46 AM) That's a man in a full-on struggle with his iPhone. LOL
  6. They really better not give up Trayce for Lawrie. That will be a regrettable decision one day.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) Color me not impressed. Coming off of a trip almost to the World Series, their two top signings are Zobrist and Lackey. Honestly it reminds me of the White Sox winter last year, in that all are second or third tier guys. For a team that is going to be one of the most profitable, probably in all of sports, I'd be pretty pissed if I was a Cubs fan that they didn't bring in A level talent to go with that offense. Just think how much those two guys would have helped them last year though. They have the luxury to go for it next year. Those two additions are older but shouldn't have a significant drop off. These guys are trying to win a World Series for the first time in a hundred years and these two additions are great for the next year or two...and possibly worthless after that, but still totally worth it IMO.
  8. Tickets goin for hundreds of dollars though? I am interested in this just because it's so popular but I never really liked musicals so it would be a very expensive roll of the dice for me.
  9. Here is a link with less content that is free. http://abc7chicago.com/entertainment/broad...n-2016/1114503/
  10. I was under the impression that Castro was one of the possible pieces to bring in some ML ready talent. I would be surprised if they received a prospect for him.
  11. It seems like that is a given for every deal now. You have to give a player at least 1-5 more years than you would realistically anticipate production just to get them to sign. The leverage for quality players is unbelievable.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) Possibility of Starlin Castro to the Yankees with the Cubs signing Zobrist is popping up all over twitter Who the hell would the Cubs get from the Yankees?
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:26 PM) Ventura, saying all the things to get the fans excited! LOL He has always been a crowd pleaser!

    RIP Chuck Siebel

Sad to hear. People need to realize that they arent invincible while they drive the cars fast. You dont learn until its too late and someone is hurt or killed. SMH
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) White apparently getting close to being able to play. Aaron Leming ‏@AaronLemingNFL · 48m48 minutes ago Kevin White's rehab progress has been downplayed since day 1. From what I've been told over the past few weeks, he's "close". #Bears I wouldn't expect Kevin White to play Sunday vs the #Redskins but from what I've been told, he could be good to play vs #Vikings. #Bears I am really excited to see him out there. Mariani was saying he looks phenomenal in practice. Like he has that burst that is special and you dont see often.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:09 PM) The weather has been friendly for them this year. That grass looks like its in July form.

    Having a baby

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Also been trying for a year with 3 miscarriages, sucks to go through. 2 of em were very early and probably wouldn't have known if not for tracking. Also had trouble with the not wanting to tell people until 12 weeks, but the last one we just didn't drink and didn't care if people asked. After having some trouble, its amazing the amount of people who have the same deal. Sucks to lose the big reveal, but it relieved a lot of stress to just be like "yes, we're trying, not taking any chances". Also was a lot easier on the wife just telling her mom and sister and not needing to worry about secrecy and also having someone to talk to if anything went wrong. I remember my mom going through this when I was a kid and it was really rough on all of us. It actually had me extremely paranoid when my wife was pregnant with our kids. We were at the hospital a lot for false alarms because the second she was concerned about something I was like lets go to the hospital. I hope it all works out for you guys soon.
  18. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) I kind of wish we would go for Alex Gordon I am not a huge Gordon fan but I would like him a hell of a lot more than Upton. Gordon seems like such a better fit for the Sox. We need some defense.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:31 AM) Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien 6m6 minutes ago Spoke with Vandy baseball coach Tim Corbin who raved about White Sox #1 pick Carson Fullmer. "He’s the nicest, meanest kid I’ve ever seen." Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien 3m3 minutes ago Tim Corbin says that Carson Fullmer is "the strongest-willed kid we've had come through." More than David Price and Sonny Gray. #WhiteSox I believe Peter Gammons said he was best pitcher in the draft. He loves him. Yeah I know, its Gammons, but I actually respect his opinion as long as it isnt about a Redsox or Yankees player.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 01:19 PM) Whelp, the wife and I are expecting baby boy #2 in June. The house is about to get more crazy. Congrats. Not so much the house getting more crazy that works my nerves but its the being in public with the two is when it gets crazy. LOL
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 11:20 AM) Some people will b**** to b****. If they wana sign Upton, then so be it. At least we're trying to improve and get an impact bat behind Abreu. Totally agree. But hey, I am fine with someone having a negative opinion on moves. That's a part of why we like sports. Its entertaining to discuss watch and react.
  22. If they can sign Gordon and then swing a trade for a Shelby Miller I thinks thats one hell of an off season for them.
  23. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) The draft pick for a 37 year old is something that would have turned me off as well. I hear you guys but the Cubs believe they are going for it next year. They have to be willing to do some NOW deals if they want to get to that ultimate goal right away.
  24. The Cubs may very well add a number 2-3 SP via a trade as well. Which will make this signing look even better.
  25. I dont know. My initial impression of Lackey signing anywhere throughout his career I always think to myself... damn that was a mistake. But he has proven to be an impactful SP and presence plenty of seasons along the way including last year. He isnt a power pitcher so its not like with his age there is going to be a sure drop off.
