  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 12:59 PM) Personally, I think that article is full of s***. Their ceiling isn't $130 million unless ownership is putting $100 million into their pockets. The profited $70 million in 2014, and the number 2015 will be even bigger. Exactly, they are just putting that out there as strategy in their negotiations. Why would they want everyone to know they have a lot of money and a lot of room to work with? That doesn't benefit them at all to have that out there.
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 05:13 PM) There is no way they are doing this as a back door plan to replace Robin Ventura. The front offie has too much respect for Robin. Now Ventura may have said he will only go another year and resign if it's a losing season. But, you don't pick a potential manager that way. I think folks are reading too much into this move. Sandy Alomar said he didnt want to take the job because he didnt want to be a distraction and disrespectful to RV knowing that people will say he was the eventual replacement. I believe they do respect RV but I they know this is a business and you have to produce results so they are going to be proactive.
  3. Why is their so many men nowadays that cant refrain from harassing and assaulting women? Its not that hard to be a decent person. If I can do it anyone can, believe me.
  4. I love the comment about Barnhart who does everything well other than hitting and running.
  5. What did his younger brother die of? Do they have some sort of bad genetic make-up or both using drugs/alcohol?
  6. I just cant get too excited over a coaching hire, particularly a bench coach hire. Meh, he is fine I suppose. Players gotta play tho.
  7. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 04:22 PM) They need another safety (Yes for sure), 2 ILB, OLB (Thats a whole lot to ask but they do need this), 2 CB (I would say 1, Porter and Fuller can hold it down) and probably at least one DE/DL on defense (Yes never enough lineman). Offense needs a tackle (I am okay with Kyle and Leno holding down the tackle spots), either left or right depending where Long ends up. Another WR and possibly a TE depending on what happens with Bennett (My guess is Bennett is back,he has really been compliant and has done what the staff has asked even though it may have hurt his catch total).
  8. LOL Getting ahead of myself buuuuuuuuuut... Bears need to draft QB, stud linebacker, safety and another O-Lineman in next years draft and shipps will be a happy man.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) The players alone that Pace has brought in all look to at least be contributors in some sort of way. Goldman, Langford, Grassu, Amos (arguably already a top 10 safety), Janoris Jenkins, Pernell McPhee, Sam Acho, Kevin White (when healthy) This would be awesome if this is the case but I don't think anyone has really seen enough of him to make that proclamation. What has he really done so far other than not get exploited out there like the past decade of Bear Safeties? I am seriously asking because maybe he has done more than I have seen.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 01:08 PM) 5-3 basically asks they had won every close game. I'm surprised there hasn't been a game where they put it all together and ice a team. I was thinking this morning if Fox's gameplan even allows for them to blow a team out on their best day. It seems like he has resigned to having every game be close but what he has to give up is no complete dominance even when they are at their absolute best. I know that isnt the case but it sure as hell seems like it.
  11. Don't assistant coaches for good teams usually get hired to be head coaches first? I could be wrong but it seems like the better record teams usually get plucked for their assistant coaches, not the 8-8 and worse teams.
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) here is my question, i do not know nothing of Renteria. but is he really a good coach??? does anyone think he is a mentor for RV while on the bench to teach him the finer points of the game?? can he be the next manager after RV?? RV has more experience than Renteria as being a manager. Renteria is not there to be his mentor. Maybe he is there as waiting in the wings like Sandy Alomar suggested with his decline of the position but certainly not to mentor the manager.
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) High Fidelity is set in Chicago and at one point they play "We are the Champions." Clearly not talking about the Cubs, so it must be a Sox reference. I used to love watching this movie when I was single and drunk for some reason. Like it was my go to movie during that time of my life.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 2h2 hours ago All Star CF Michael Brantley out for 5-6 months with shoulder surgery, #Indians announce Is he going to be Sizemore all over again?
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 12:47 PM) We are due for a mild winter after the last few. I really hope so. If I lived in the city near my job I really wouldn't care as much but my travel times leaving in the far suburbs are ridiculous whenever it snows.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 11:41 AM) Speaking of the Cubs. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/7/71/10...ve-trade-market This would make better sense for them. Capitalize on some expendable young talent that you have to acquire fairly older talent heading into their prime. Then you don't have to spend big money on acquiring the high priced FA's. I just always felt that the Cubs were staying away from trading any of their young guys, other than Castro when he had no trade value.
  17. Zack Grienke- Giants Yoenis Cespedes- Giants David Price- Cubs Jason Heyward- Yankees Chris Davis- Angels Justin Upton- White Sox Jordan Zimmermann- Cubs Johnny Cueto- Bo Sox Alex Gordon- Cubs Jeff Samardzija- Bo Sox Mike Leake- Pirates Ian Desmond- Mets Alexei Ramirez- White Sox Boom. Cubs are going big.
  18. With them getting a comp pick where they are going to get them I can understand why there were some here that were saying it would have been better to get any low level prospect from anyone in a trade last season. Clearly there is a lot of value in getting a pick sandwiched between the first two rounds...like a lot of value.
  19. I am really trying to understand the love out there for Alex Gordon. He is going to be 32 next season and he is looking to be getting superstar money next season right? He hasn't really put up superstar numbers as far as I can tell. He was good last season no doubt but I can see him being one of the next contracts that someone is going to regret.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 02:02 PM) Man, this story keeps snowballing. Even if only 25% of the whole story is true, he's still a big POS. If it comes out that he is connected with ISIS I wouldnt be surprised. LOL
  21. It doesnt change anything for me. Its been pretty clear that Hardy is an awful, awful person. He is probably a straight up monster and will eventually get exactly what he deserves. The sad part is it will probably come after someone else has to experience his brutality once again.
  22. Harry Giles chose Duke. That injury history has to be a concern if I am recruiting him. That kid has already injured all the CL's in his body and one just last week.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) Yeah, that's where the water glows all around you. It's best if you're there when there's no moon (new moon) and/or a cloudy night. There are three biobays on Puerto Rico. Mosquito Bay on Vieques is the best in the world, but that requires a trip to a separate island. The one in Fajardo is the next-best, and my parents said it was great. There's also one on the southwest corner of the island in Paragua. We checked that one out on our first trip because we were over on that side, but it's definitely the worst of the three. I know they "go dark" every once in a while for various reasons and IIRC the one in Fajardo was experiencing that earlier this year or last year, so if you're going to do it make sure you check into current conditions. Great info. We will probably have to go to the one in Fajardo. Not sure if we are going to be able to put a whole bunch of time aside to take a separate trip to Vieques but that may be possible.
