  1. QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:55 AM) Doug Padilla is moving back to LA to cover the Dodgers. Looks like ESPNChicago is hurting, think they are only going to do general Sox updates, not have anyone on the actual Sox beat. Damn. To not even have a beat guy from ESPN for Sox baseball kind of sucks in a way. Not that they gave any huge insight but the fact that Sox interest and journalism in general reaching new lows all the time.
  2. The question I have is are the Sox seemingly money strapped because they just flat out dont have the payroll flexibility for next year? Or do they have the flexibility but even they dont believe this team will be good to really be competitive by adding a costly piece? Just like their public approach to the off season when it started they still havent made up their mind of what they are for next year, have they?
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 09:02 AM) Sale is a LOCK to leave when his contract is over. The Sox will never pay him what he'll be worth. I'm just enjoying him now, because I know he'll be gone in a few years. If FO believes that he is a lock to leave they need to trade in 2 years to maximize that return then. So he may be gone in two years actually.
  4. Let the Cubs have him. I am over the OF FA's, they are all over priced at the end of the day.
  5. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 04:49 PM) Are the Sox really open to the idea Anderson opening the season at SS? Because that's what the tone of this thread implies. I dont think they anticipate that at all but I could see them opening with him if he goes on an absolute tear in ST offensively and defensively combined with Saladino having a very poor Spring.
  6. I think there is zero chance the Sox sign Desmond, which is fine by me btw.
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) She's not? Well damn I stand corrected. Saw the pics and everything and thought so. My bad Jason. I could be totally wrong. LOL But I thought she said she was Thai?
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) So is the owner of this site. It's... what the cool kids do now. UhHH I dont think she is Filipino.
  9. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) I didn't say to ignore errors, but saying things like "he makes a lot of errors so he's not a good defender" is short-sighted. I would say ignoring errors because you have a lot of confidence in defensive metrics is also short sighted. But I do agree that saying that errors is the be all end all is not a way to properly assess a guys defense.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) Also, it seems like this season is setting up to be a final lap around the country for Hawk, a la Konerko. Say goodbye to some people he's known for a long time, and retire at 75. Hasnt there been some recent talk of Hawk either signing an extension or has a multi year deal in place? I dont remember.
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 11:21 AM) We've long moved past just looking at # of errors to determine good defense. That's just lazy analysis. I am not sure of that. Of all the metrics I think the defense metrics are the furthest away of giving accurate assessments. Just for the fact of the team's positioning of that individual fielder can effect that given play. Maybe they positioned him in a bad spot or maybe the fielder positioned himself in a bad spot. I just dont look too much into defensive metrics. But thats just me.
  12. Wentz has all the physical attributes of a potentially good NFL quarterback but like all the rest he has so many weaknesses (and that's at the collegiate level) that he would be a HUGE project. But I guess you have to roll the dice on someone for that position until it hits.
  13. The more I think about it I am leaning towards more in building upon our strengths instead of trying to make our weakness average at best. Go get another starter like Gallardo or make a trade for a solid number 3/4 to put in your 4 spot and have Danks/EJ compete for spot number 5. If you are going to do anything next year its going to have to be through pitching and defense. Get a defense only guy to put in RF and be ok with knowing you may not get much out of the bat but that they will save you some runs here or there. Come to terms with Saladino playing good defense at short and possibly getting little out of his at bat. The pen already looks good for next year. You have added a couple of good bats to the offense so its not like they havent addressed the lineup at all. They did enough to get by with a great pitching staff. So they better make for damn sure that the starting staff is great.
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 03:01 PM) It should work via a USB connection as well if you have a USB port. You can plug in when you want to play music, but it would probably have calls go through your speaker then as well. It has a USB port but doesn't give USB connection option on my monitor. I looked through all the screens on the car monitor and no option for USB connection. Doesnt make sense.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/15/sports/b...eball.html?_r=0 I think it was a Dodger scout that said this kid just flat out CANT play. I know I read it somewhere but I cant find it. I dont think the cricket guys will translate over to baseball as some might think at first thought.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) Yep...most any of the cars with bluetooh should do it, you just need to make sure when you set-up your phone you also activate the bluetooth audio feature. Do note that to play navigation, you need to typically be on the media section (some cars it will actually interject over normal radio but a lot of vehicles it will only interject on the media connection, meaning over Pandora / Spotify / etc). I kinda figured it would work if I enabled my blue tooth setting but I hate to have my phone linked to that. I always forget that I have it on and the ring wakes up my daughter on our morning drive in to the city. I guess if thats the only way then I will just have to remember to disable when I am not listening to prime.
  17. Something tells me that Fowler had the best year of his career that he will have have when he was with the Cubs last year. He was riding that magic they had. I would pass on him.
  18. Gage that is one elaborate strategy to car buying. LOL My wife is the same way though. I get so annoyed in the process that I will usually not buy anything. I don't like salespeople and I always feel like I am being hosed no matter what. Glad you got yourself a nice ride at a good price.
  19. Does anyone know if I can play my Amazon Prime music downloads in my car from my Iphone? I have tried but my car is telling me there is not playable data. I have the phone connected to the USB port and I am playing the songs on my phone but nothing.
  20. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) I'm by far the most pissed about Gordon. That was an extremely beatable deal he took, even factoring in the hometown discount. Anyway, wipe away all the caveats and if's and but's and focus on this remaining fact: The Sox went to the Outfielder Store, plenty of beautiful specimens were on display, and now most of them are gone while we're still pushing an empty shopping cart. I usually try not to be this blunt, I like to think I'm not on the whiner list, but that is a f***-up by the front office. I can't see it any other way. Maybe we'll get lucky with the eventual solution and Austin Jackson will pull a Victorino and have an outsized career year for no reason. That's about what we need to be a real contender right now. Thats what FO seems to be banking on that from someone next year in that OF spot. But the thing that pisses me off is that when you do that 9 times out of 10 it doesnt work out for you...and those odds are probably being nice.
  21. LOL I don't know if there has been a young guy who has been looked down upon more than Avi. At least not with the Sox.
  22. Why is everyone so quick to want to trade Anderson? Lol He is the one position player we have in the minors that looks promising.
  23. Nothing left to see here folks keep it moving...drive home safely everyone
  24. Hahn, would you say the Mets got "creative" with throwing in the opt out after year one?
