It amazes me how Cowley could even have a source within that org. LOL Cowley actually had me cracking up the other day. He was on with Bernstein and he was pretty much saying how the Bulls send him hate mail when he writes a negative article about them and threaten lawsuits at times. Pretty hilarious how he has no regard for what people think of him or how he isnt afraid to become and enemy to a team instead of a yes man. I never liked Cowley to much but I respect that part about him.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) dont be tarde I usually am tarde tho, so we will see.

I have been sucked into NBA tarde deadline talk for years but I refuse to fall into that rabbit hole of nothingness anymore. Rumors come to fruition like .1% of the time in the NBA. I will check back tomorrow after 2pm.

I will check back in after 2pm tomorrow. The NBA trade deadline speculation is the most pointless in all of sports IMO. There is about 1 true rumor for every 50 rumor.

Players have begun showing up for Spring Training already

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 09:23 AM) Yeah, after the way he worked back from his should injury, he earned my respect for his work ethic. That is what earned him a mulligan for last year in my eyes. If he sucks again this year I will admit defeat on beating the Avi drum. -
I was going through some old albums last night. I am a lame but Pete Yorn's musicforthemorningafter album was just about as good as it gets for an Indie Pop album. There are like 12 GREAT songs on that album. Unbelievable how good from top to bottom.

Is this usual to have so many B-C type FA's still unsigned when pitchers and catchers officially report? It seems like there are more bigger names out there than usual. I remember things being more set in place by now.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 11:07 AM) It has been tied into the larger lawsuit brought against UT about covering up rapes, not really out of the woodwork as much as bad timing for Peyton. He made some bad decisions about this entire thing though, he should have shut up about it a few times Hasnt he already paid the girl in civil suit money...twice? To me its over and has been settled. Does it show Manning is probably a pretty bad guy? Yeah, but it should've have been his story line years ago. I really don't care for Manning but this just seems like the media controlling the public opinion of a guy as they collectively deem to fit for the moment.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 05:19 PM) Bob Nnightengale on MLB Network just said that the White Sox are out of cash. I find this hard to believe. LOL that would make zero sense considering they were certainly offering SOMETHING to Cespedes and Gordon. Perhaps they were only offering them groupon deals?!

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 04:09 PM) Because he trusts his current scouts to draft talent as opposed to the the prior guys and as such the draft picks this year hold more weight than the guys he will give up that are currently in the system. I really want to believe this is true. I would love to have them draft some position players that pan out.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) This is what the common sense interpretation of what we just saw today would be. A respectful farewell to one of the best players in recent franchise history. Nope. They should have low balled him and pissed him off enough so that he is publicly bitter until the next regime comes in.

Mets reliever/closer Jenrry Mejia permanently suspended from MLB
shipps replied to Jose Abreu's topic in The Diamond Club
Obviously wasnt good enough to ever be in the majors without cheating and he knew it. Good luck in the real world. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) Everything seems to indicate the Sox would rather trade for a player than sign them. Which is bizarre if you ask me. Why would they want to deplete their farm anymore than what already was a weak system? Hahn is obviously an extremely bright individual. He has gone to the best schools and had succeeded in the highest levels of management. But from the outside it seems like he has no real plan or direction of exactly what he wants to do. He seemingly wants moves to come to him and if they dont then he will rationalize it like he never wanted it in the first place. This cant be the case but its how I see it in my head.

WAR it isnt good for...absolutely nothing.

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) I guess that's it, but it didn't ring a bell. Sox n Roll might have been even further back then that actually. Like 2003 LOL

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) Can anyone help me remember the sox podcast around 2009-10-11 that was two younger dudes, lots of swearing, and in 2010 they had an excellent run of podcasts trying to end our losing start with different hexes? Obscure, and I don't know what else to search. Sox N roll?

The thing about running backs is that probably 90-95% of the time you wouldnt think twice about letting a 30 year old running back walk. However there may be a case to be made that Forte is in that 5-10% range that you really should consider him to be an exception. I tend to lean towards Matt being in the top 20% of running backs in the game though. If he goes to a high octane offense with one of the elite quarterbacks he may just have an MVP year next year. Or he will be hurt most of the year because he is old.

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 11:58 AM) Which hurt Hahn's ability to sign free agents way more than Avi's role on the team did. I thought the best part of the LaRoche signing when it happened was that it was for a price that wouldn't hamper any other moves from happening in the future? I can't believe we wound up talking about it being some major hindrance.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 11:00 AM) The talking up of Avi continues. He's gonna be the starting right fielder and I'm gonna lose my freaking mind. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 8m8 minutes ago Todd Steverson said Avisail Garcia was very receptive to trying a new stance when they worked out for 3 days in Miami. Promises diff. look. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 7m7 minutes ago Todd Steverson on Avisail Garcia: "“You can tell people, tell people, tell people. But until they get a hold of it in their own head." Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 3m3 minutes ago Basically, #WhiteSox know there's much to be done & it's early. They're hoping Avisail Garcia gets comfy w/ new stance in spring. That is your starting right fielder folks. Working on a completely different stance.
