The question is...is this a minor league deal? That's a key factor.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 03:17 PM) Various NBA reporters have indicated if the Bulls wanted to (now whether true or not, who knows), they could unload Rose without taking back any significant contracts (long-term). When you consider the cap going up (and if Rose plays most of the games from here on up), all that money, and given a relatively weak free agent crop (outside of Durant) that someone who was looking for "star-power" or a "brand" wouldn't take Rose, well I just don't see how that is possible. By the way, i'm not here arguing he's great or a star, I'm just saying, with what is out there (and tons of team are going to have tons of cash), Rose will absolutely be moveable (as long as he is healthy). I happen to think he will continue to ascend (vs. descend) between now and the off-season, but either way, as long as he was healthy, I think the Bulls could move him. How many teams are looking to unload a group of players or one guy that match his salary though? I don't know if there is a large pool of teams that are as f***ed up as the Bulls. And whoever is they are probably just as delusional of the value of their guys as the Bulls FO is about theirs.

QUOTE (Baron @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) I like it...just brutal honesty. He has potential but he better not waste their time. Or he will be replaced. Sounds good to me. Avi can use some of that brutal honesty.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 03:03 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan 2h2 hours ago Hahn: 'The way we described to Jimmy, we believe in Saladino's upside...but there is opportunity for Jimmy to [be] playing regularly at SS' What a vote of confidence for Saladino. LOL

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) It's expected this year...last year kind of came out of nowhere. I'm just rooting for sophomore slumps and Arrieta coming back to earth. Arrieta will definitely come back to earth and their pitching as a whole may not be quite what they expect. I really dont anticipate to many of those guys having a sophomore slump but maybe one of them will. But they do have Heyward to make up for that. They still have to play the games and we have no idea how they will collectively react mentally to being the front runners. That can wear on a team and effect the chemistry.

fathom, we are in for a long year watching the Cubs euphoria grow. I am going to stay away from it as much as I can because the more I see it or hear about it the more annoyed I am going to get. If I turn of the tv/radio station when someone starts drooling over them it wont bother me as much as a whole.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 11:59 AM) The great part about this is it's a minor league contract. If he shows he really has nothing left, they are under zero pressure to keep him. Plus he is motivated to show his tank isn't empty, and Saladino benefits from some competition. Yeah I am fine with it. When negative opinions come out with moves like this its because of the expectations that the fans had in seeing a bigger name or more glamorous move. A guy like this obviously doesnt satisfy the Sox fans thirst for a big move. But we made plenty of big moves last off season sooooo...

God damn Kenny Williams.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 09:39 AM) Looks like more significant snow Wed and Thurs (6-12 in.) I knew it would happen after that 60 degree Saturday. Some of my flowers are starting to come up, they are so confused.

Sorry to hear that. He was crazy as hell but I liked him while on the Sox.

I wont be mad if they stock pile picks I suppose but good luck trying to replace guys like Marty and Alshon because its not going to be easy and you will be ripped apart if you dont find solid replacements.

By mid June we will all be saying Avi was the least of our worries.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 19, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) Rappaport also reporting that the Bears are moving on from Marty. Again, I find this absolutely foolish. We have little talent and have a major need to infuse other positions, yet we are going to create another need. Unless we can get real value in trade, it just doesn't make sense to me. Totally dumb to move on from him. He is weird and maybe a pain in the ass but the dude is a beast on the field in talent and effort. There were plenty of guys that quit in the Trestman final year and Marty was still out there putting his ass on the line. Is he hurt? What is the reason to move on from him other then you just dont like his personality? Its not like he is another BMarshall.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 10:24 PM) I just realized I haven't listened to the band Brand New in a long time, and tomorrow that is going to change That is something I have to listen to. I have been trying to remember the stuff I used to love considering all my cd's are in my parents attic I forgot what I liked before.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 05:20 PM) Cespedes turned down a larger total offer, at least from the Nats, but in return he got a 1 year optout with a high first year salary. Another MVP type season this year and he'll have turned that into a fortune. The Nats offer was a fortune and he wouldnt have to put up MVP numbers again to receive it. But they are on a whole other planet when it comes to business decisions then where I am. LOL

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) Per KCJHoop: Bulls getting Justin Holiday in that Hinrich trade as well, per source. It's a 3-team deal with the Jazz. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/holidju01.html Jrue Holiday's brother. I stand corrected. So the Bulls were wheeling and dealing!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) Apparently Gasol has been told that he will probably not be traded, and might even be extended. This is shocking. I am shocked.

Ian Desmond Signs 1 Year 8M Deal with Rangers

If this team is bad it wont be because of Avi. He is not the key factor for this team. If he is bad I really dont think they are going to keep running him out there anyway. If this team doesn't make the playoffs solely because of Avi I will eat gregs shirt and sell his house that I have acquired in prior dealings. -
QUOTE (oldsox @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) No, Mike; just ready for ST. When tomorrows 60 degree weather comes I am going to get that giddy feeling of baseball and spring on its way. Even though we can totally get another 2 feet of snow before then.

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) It's amazing to me how many people seemingly changed their mind in the last few weeks about being ok with Avi getting all the at bats in RF. The fluff pieces have worked, it appears. I cant speak for everyone else but I have been on Avi's side since he has been here. I wasnt opposed to bringing in a big bat in place of him but I havent given up on him just yet. -
I ma behind the times but I am curious. I seen Kanye's performance on SNL and that was some of the dumbest s*** I have ever seen. I realize that hip hop doesnt always translate live but good god that was terrible. It was like a spoof and they were all high. There was no melody to the song that I could even make out.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 11:50 PM) I agree that the answer is already on the roster: Avi Garcia. Let the kid play. I am willing to roll with this. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) We all know nothing is going to happen. Yep. There may be a trade or two but nothing with the Bulls.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 05:26 PM) I'll always remember when Cowley said I live in a basement with my mom. LOL. How do I not remember that. What was the context of that one? LOL
