QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) Floyd carted off the field at practice. Damn.... Dan Wiederer @danwiederer Leonard Floyd did leave the practice field a short time ago on a cart. Unclear to this point what the reason was. Motherf***in s***. One of the only things I hate about football. Do the Bears have to redshirt every damn first round pick?!

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) Yeah after Kevin white last year I wouldn't be surprised if McPhee retires suddenly in August Floyd - it is what it is at this point. Have to hope he can ball at that weight. As a guy who loves to eat and is currently dropping weight with the biggest efforts I have ever given to dieting, I just cant wrap my head around someone not being able to GAIN weight.
-
My first day thoughts to training camp because....well I am ready for football....is I cant see Pernell Mcphee ever playing a full season for the Bears. They say he dropped a lot of weight presumably to help his knees but for his physical style + body type + prone to injury (the worst of all) he is going to be injured every year and thats just the reality of it all. Its a damn shame because he can ball with the best of them when healthy. Second, I am not surprised but still sort of disappointed that Leonard Floyd appears to not have gained much weight at all despite his diet plan that he has been on since the draft.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) Because they ah the friggin Bahston Red Sawx The Sawks are like negotiating with a ginger haired pudgy guy who wears his adidas jumpsuit selling car speakers out the back of his trunk.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) What are they trying to offer for Sale then? Lmao That is why I would never want to trade with Boston. I think they always felt they could get Sale for second tier minor league talent. Why? I have no idea.

Crosstown Cup Game Thread, Game 3
shipps replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in 2016 Season in Review
Whatever happens tonight or any other night from now until the trade deadline shouldnt change a damn thing. That is probably the most frustrating thing about our FO. They do everything on the fly instead of knowing what works and doesnt as they see things happen over time. Instead they have the mindset of we will see what happens today until we determine the next 4 years, like today should overshadow the past 4 seasons. They lack vision for the future and only live for today which is obviously a reflection of the owner. -
I still love Gammons just for the fact that he always confesses his LOVE for Carson Fullmer. He absolutely loves everything about the kid.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) Well here's some more. Count the Red Sox out. "but the Red Sox have let other teams know they will not discuss four players: Yoan Moncada, Andrew Benintendi, Michael Kopech and Rafael Devers." http://www.gammonsdaily.com/peter-gammons-...otes-from-july/ bye felicia.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) This board Greensox would not care about Tatis at all if he weren't traded for Shields. Yeah.
-
Shields can opt out after this year though right? If he keeps this up he probably will opt out.
-
The Hawks now are so much like what the Red Wings were for so many years, right? It always seemed like the Wings used to get richer all the time, year in and year out, just because everybody wanted to play with them.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 09:15 AM) Isn't most of Heywards value based on his defense right now? 184 million bucks for good defense.... Yeah, a big part of their projection for him was that he would bring another 25-30 HR's and 100 rbi's. That aint happening.

QUOTE (oneofthemikes @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) BBTN just had a segment about Sale and what it would take to get him. Boston - Said Bogaerts and Betts are totally off limits and that Moncada, Benentendi, Kopech, and Swihart was too much. Said Moncada, Kopech, Swihart, and Eduardo Rodriguez was a fair return for the White Sox. Rangers - Said Mazara, Gallo, Profar, and Dillon Tate was too much and that Mazara, Profar OR Gallo, Luis Ortiz, and Dillon Tate was a fair return. I don't think I'm good with either of the "fair" packages. Especially with some of the trades that have already happened in the past couple weeks. Three and a half years of a top 5 pitcher in baseball on an extremely team friendly deal is going to have to be an unprecedented package of talent in return and I'm not seeing that in the afore mentioned proposals. Dont they know that is the ONLY DAMN way the Sox trade Sale, is if they get what BBTN calls "too much"?

The Possibility of the Curve Ball from the Sox...
shipps replied to shipps's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I know people say what do we have to trade out of our minor leagues that other teams would want but I know I have heard this before and still seen the Sox trade for a guy they wanted. They could certainly "buy" somehow if thats what they choose to do. -
What if they decide to add by trading some of our minor league talent to add a proven talent to our current mix? Maybe they wont sell at all. The Sox may go on a run here and have Jerry believe they have a shot and decide, you know what, we can add a piece or two and be in contention. Who could they add? Much of the talk has geared away from this but its still possible. I cant imagine this happening but stranger things have happened before.

You know we all got your back Jer! Praying for your son and for strength to push through until he is healthy and home!

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) I would rather keep Q and deal Sale. 1. Sale is going to bring back a larger haul in a trade. 2. I believe Q has a much better chance to pitch well into his 30's than does Sale. His style seems to be built for longevity more like a Maddux than a Verlander. 3. I think Sale is a higher risk to sustain a career altering injury, based on mechanics and DL time in their careers. 4. I think the package that Sale would bring back could make the team competitive while Q is still under his current contract. I have to give you credit. This is one of the handful of times on soxtalk that someone posted something that may have swayed my thinking in something that I thought long and hard about and made a decision on already. These are ALL great points. Well done.
-
Gonzalez might actually wind up being more valuable to the Sox then what we can get in return for him right now. Unless someone wants to give you a sexy piece I would say hold onto him and build upon his success. We always need quality starting pitching and will definitely value his arm if we trade Q or Sale.

QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 11:56 PM) Jason Heyward.....Bad. Nope, the Cubs never make any wrong personnel decisions.
-
The more this drags on I see its going to be Q moved probably right before the deadline where the Sox get max value for him. Have that team throw in one more piece. Why would they trade him today or tomorrow no matter what is offered? You have to be sure you have allowed every team possible all the time allowed to put all their chips in. I dont see anything happening until the day of the deadline at the very earliest but most likely up until that last couple hours.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) Law is about to be on Mully and Hanley to talk White Sox trade rumors if anyone cares. Mully and Hanley is the morning show??

QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 03:15 PM) i asked him on twitter if it means that Jerry said no to selling off guys at the deadline (as did a couple other guys) and he did not respond to any of us with what it meant The dude appears to be a drunk so you never know what is jibberish from some of the stuff that he tweets or if he is sober enough to have a real thought. Even he has questioned how things are run in the organization that solid intel can get back to an asshole like him. And those are his words.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) Because with the lead after the 7th inning the Cubs have been extremely good. You ask any Cub fan, expert or the like who follow this team (besides fathom) the biggest worry for them is their pen. There really arent any other teams that I would say definitely has a stronger rotation for a playoff series than the Cubs. Hey, I hope they made the wrong move but to me this s*** is what puts them over the top more than any other move they could have made. I admit if I were a Cub fan I would have rather gotten a guy like Miller rather than a rental but for this year Chapman is going to be what you need in the playoffs.
-
I dont understand how people could say the Cubs didnt need bullpen help. Having him in the closer slot knocks everyone else down a notch in their pen like having Rondon as a set-up man now. This will help their bullpen immensely, not to mention Chapman will be electric and everything you need in a playoff series.
-
I knew Sale having his name in trade rumors would offend him and have him explode. The dude is a hot head and takes pretty much everything personally.
