  1. I guess I would like to set the bar a little higher than Morneau for next year but realistically I dont even think thats possible. So bring em back.
  2. Tebow actually has a nice looking swing. He will probably make very little contact, but swing is nice. LOL
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 02:26 PM) what an astonishingly stupid decision by La Stella. He is an injury away from being right back in the majors, and at the end of the month he comes back up regardless because rosters expand. I would just end his season if I were the cubs. Enjoy New Jersey, dude What in the hell good did he think could come of this? Worst thing he could have done for his career, beyond dumb.
  4. Dammit bmags, what is your position!?
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) That's the best case scenario shipps? Yep, he isnt going to be healthy for a full season so you might as well hope you get him back towards the end of a season with the slightest chance at playing in a playoff game.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) Fairly certain we are going to hear McPhee is out for year before the 4th preseason game. Everything we feared about him holding up has come to fruition. If he is going to make a full season he has to be a part time situational guy. Best case scenario with him is that or he is out for most of the year due to nagging injuries and becomes healthy towards the end. And that would be in a year that the Bears had the possibility of making the playoffs, which would likely not be this year. Its really a damn shame because the dude can flat out play.
  7. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 03:49 PM) He didn't want it and came out and said he wouldn't accept it. He knows he has a much better chance in 4 years or maybe 8 years. Let the party implode, as it will, and then be the one reasonable voice left in a sea of s*** candidates. But thats what he would be now. Oh well, if he doesnt want it...he doesnt want it.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 07:55 AM) Seriously why does he still have a job. Who Levine or Ventura? Both valid questions.
  9. The terrible part of this whole thing is that lets say they do throw a ton of money out there and grab three of the top FA's and maybe make a trade somewhere in there. Doesnt that just make them the Angels? Who are fundamentally flawed to being with as well so even that doesnt work.
  10. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) Like whom? And who sent you?
  11. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) Inconceivable. Incomprehensible. Who are you?
  12. I really wish the Sox FO could come to the realization that there really are no scenarios in which they are "going for it" next season if if they think they are. You cant add to this group with 2 or 3 different dudes and think you are going for it no matter who you add. Unless you are adding superstars which isnt going to happen.
  13. Why didnt the Republican party just nominate Ryan when they had the chance? Yeah it would have been unprecedented but still clearly the best option for them and in their heart of hearts a guy they would rather endorse than Trump anyway. I am sure this has probably been addressed along the way in here but I dont come in the buster much and didnt see it while sifting through. I really would like to know their reasoning why they stuck with Trump even though they all knew it was the wrong thing to do.
  14. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) X-ray negative. DAMN! EVERYTHING IS NEGATIVE RIGHT NOW! Wait, thats a good thing.
  15. Every thing sucks right now but it would still be nice to get some good vibes going on the last leg of the season. Good for Q.
  16. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) And Anderson comes out of the game. I cant even....
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 11:58 AM) Adam Jahns ‏@adamjahns 27m27 minutes ago #Bears WR Alshon Jeffery has a mild hamstring strain 13 retweets 4 likes Which equates to Out 4-5 weeks.
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 05:48 AM) Damn. Shocked he's staying. Me too. Its so not the new school way of doing things.
  19. Of course, I dont know how anything can go well at this point.
  20. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) Is it possible to make this a temporarily sub forum so we can have threads for each sport? There are just so many sports going on all at the same time I want to be able to find my swimming and volleyball chat easily. You would probably just be chatting with yourself if we did that.
  21. I think that is what is so demoralizing. The Sox were damned if they did and damned if they didnt when it came to the trade deadline. I hate to sound repetitive but the problem is organization wide. Its not fixable with having just a good return on a couple stud pitchers. That would have helped but if they still continue to blow draft picks....if they continue to strike out on the key FA signings and hit on the poor FA decisions...if they continue to allow their clubhouse to be mismanaged...if they continue to not be on the same page in the FO...if they continue to not develop the talent from the lower levels up...and it keeps going and going it will be extremely difficult for them to have real sustainable success.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) Says the guy who could not get enough of Avi Garcia and Carlos Sanchez. Dick, besides you just trying to troll him what does that have to do with anything?
  23. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) I can't see how this is a PR disaster. Something to keep in mind is that Soxtalk posters are largely the 1% of the fanbase, in regards to org knowledge (roster, minors, FO, etc). To assume Jimbo McLunchbox is upset because the Sox DIDN'T trade his favorite player for 5 guys he's never heard of... is pretty ridiculous. I guess maybe I didnt clarify that collectively what has happened in the past few years has been a PR disaster with yesterday just being a small part of that PR disaster. Yesterday alone definitely is something the public would forget about soon enough but everything that has happened over time? Nah I cant forget how messy this has all been. Its not just one guy either, its the whole damn thing.
  24. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) The Sox are one of the oldest franchises in major league baseball, a team that defeated the Cubs in the World Series in 1906, and has won the World Series twice sionce then including one 11 years ago. Never forget, the last time we heard this kind of talk about the Cubs taking over the entire Chicago metro area was in the Fall of 2003, just before the NLCS. LOL! And how did the Cubs do in the Mets series in last years NLCS? Swept! O for 4. Yes, indeed, things can turn around rather quickly in sports. Does anyone think the Yankees and Dodgers or the Giants and Cardinals will ever stay down for very long? Stop all the hand wringing, finger pointing and worst of all the false outrage from pseudo Sox fans (aka Cub fans). Go to a game with friends, tail gate and have a good time. If you are a fair weather fan, , take your s---- to the Northside and leave Sox fans alone. Enough of the piling on. This has gotten way old. Get a life and move the ____ on. Only a true Sox fan would make this a Cubs vs. Sox conversation. Right? Do I think that the Sox will leave this city? No, probably not but I thought it was a valid point that the direction that this organization has been heading in from the top down the past decade has made it at least a possibility if you strecth your imagination just a bit. There is a dysfunction throughout the org that bothers me enough, even as a life long fan, that doesnt allow me to go on about my merry business and play bean bags before the game while I have a brawt in one hand and a beer in the other. Why do you feel so threatened by conversation just because it may reflect poorly upon a baseball team we follow. Part of the problem with Sox nation is that there is this mentality that every one has that they are a better fan than the next because of ________. Just because you dont care to talk negatively about the Sox or hold the team accountable doesnt mean I should move to the northside, or stop posting my opinion, or find a life.
  25. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 10:59 AM) The Sox farm system was in better shape in those years, but Reinsdorf was threatening to move the Sox to Florida in 1988. In the late '90s, the Sox were still reeling from the '94 strike and the White Flag trade. People need to step off the ledge and stop with the drama. The Sox have most definitely been in worse shape in the past than they are now. That may be but that isnt the point really. They havent even hit rock bottom yet, if you can believe that. It is feasible that its only going to get worse from here, not better, seeing the direction or lack of direction as a franchise is leading a detached fan base.
