Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
the comment about Buehrle tells me the Sox are definately 'quiet' sellers. If KW thought this season was going to happen the way he wanted he'd tell people MB is not on the table.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:18 PM) At least I found the only manager worse than Ozzie....the National League Ozzie.

Mark Buehrle and the Cardinals
I think the crux of the article is the Cardinals would desperately love to have Buehrle, but it would be very very costly...we're talking 3 top prospect. They'd have to offer up something like Reyes/Wainwright, Colby Rasmus, and another good prospect to get a deal done and that is the very bare min...Lets face it, even though Buehrle is in a walk year, should the Cardinals obtain him he would very likely resign so long as the Cards were fair in the offer.

Deals I would try to make
The Dodgers are a logical trading partner involving Dye. I'd like to get Billingsley and a MI prospect (Hu, Abreu, etc) for Dye, but I fear the Dodgers would balk at that and probably suggest a deal such as: Dye + Broadway/Russell/Egbert for Billingsley + Hu/Abreu

White Sox vs. Phillies, 6/12/07 (L)
QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:40 PM) Luis Terrero can sure hit but he sucks in CF. i'd love to have him as our every day LF over Podz. His arm is clearly a RF or CF capable arm. Personally, I see him as a legit RF where he wouldn't have to cover as much ground, but his arm is definately RF capable.

After tonight, this team is 4 games from last place. Sad

At this point...
Maybe I am ill or something, but I want Luis terraro and Josh Fields to be given a chance to prove themselves. In my view, Terraro has some serious raw talent (don't tell me him almost throwing out Bourne last night wasn't impressive, what a gun). Fields, while he has looked overmatched and hopeless so far, is a tireless worker who has a track record of learning and improving. He must be given (as I'm sure he will be with Crede's situation) free reign to go out and stink it up with the hopes he figures it out. His bunt last night was heady and he has shown better than average footwork at 3rd base. Despite his early season funk, he shows promise. Mackowiak=Platoon, utlity player. Was brought here to mix and match at multiple positions, not to be an everyday player. Owens=No better than 4thOF. He doesn't have the goods to be a full-timer in the majors. So Mack and Owens need to go back to parttime and we need Terraro and Fields to be allowed a chance to showcase their skills. Terraro brought a respectable average and homerun rate into last nights game and he obviously has a true major league arm. If Dye is moved, Luis should be given a shot at right (Sweeney should also get some looks). If Dye remains then maybe Luis can play CF. If this season does truly become a lost one, then Sweeney, Terraro and Fields should be given long, solid looks, because after them AAA provides no more positiona player prospects for the White Sox.

Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:28 AM) Damn... looks like Salty is gonna be a brave and be a waste at 1B. He is such a good defense catcher with a canon arm. I doubt Count would get him... No chance this Catcher is moved for Contreras.

Our Top Prospects
QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) My question on Fields is the same one I had last year: can he hit a major-league fastball? He seems to have trouble with good velocity. That's a little strange for a top-level prospect. It's usually dealing with the off-speed stuff that you wonder about. I noticed this as well. Anderson, Fields, and Sweeney are three of our top prospects, but every day that I see them I am more and more concerned than none of them will be anything other than marginal major leaguers at best. If one or all of them are involved in any trades I wouldn't worry.

The Reason This Team is Bad, and Yes: It's Ozzie's Fault
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 08:36 PM) I don't think things could be going worse right now, and Ozzie's done nothing to spark this team. This team just isn't any good. Blaming the manager for the lack of performance by marginal players and players who should either be complete platoon players, reserves, or minor leaguers is silly. Half the guys on our team should be reserves, in AAA, or DFA. And the jokers we keep calling up from AAA appear not too impressive.

That's it, blow the whole f***ing thing up
QUOTE(beck72 @ May 20, 2007 -> 10:47 AM) The sox are trying to win in the AL central On what planet? In what year? It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to know this White Sox team will not only NOT win the AL Central, but won't even finish 2nd. They didn't last year, why should they this year? This is a bad baseball team, save the SP.

And That's A White Sox Loser
I think it's time to bring in Mike Ditka to coach the baseball team.

And That's A White Sox Loser
Well, the last two innings were sure interesting. Reminded me of my son's little league game. Who says major leaguers aren't in it for the kids?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 11:34 PM) If you run onto the field. You should be beaten within an inch of your life, shaved head to toe, and painted purple. And then forced to watch 9 innings of White sox baseball.

We need to just quit using the pen. Guys back in the '40s threw 150-160 pitches a game. Time for these boys to earn their money.
