QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) One step closer... Clean out the locker son. maybe the nationals can watch him pop out.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) Sorry I meant to say Rowand. As much as I think he'll produce this year, there's still a chance he may not. I'd rather have Harris in the outfield than Borchard. Well i don't think we need to worry as much there, but if by chance we do at least in the second half of the year then Everett would move to the outfield with pods sliding over to center. Still no need for willie.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) Keep Harris, we don't even know how well Uribe is going to produce this year. What will Harris do for that situation?

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) Ever see "Problem Child"..? Remember the red headed beast..? I thought that was Hotsox chick!

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) No.. she's already taken by a former Sox infielder.. whoa, a PM from you is necessary

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) Frank's wife my wife met Franks wife on several occasions through some Oak brook connections, she said she was the worst woman she ever met. Doubt if he slept with her

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) SB.. I'll just say this and you can take it how you wish.. Willie did some inappropriate things in the clubhouse. That's why he is on the s*** list. This isn't about having a bad day. It's about treating your teammates like s*** and disrespecting your employer. His behavior was the same in Baltimore.. the Sox gave him a chance. Didn't work out. Did he sleep with sandburgs wife?

this is already out of hand, I still don't know why this is a big deal. he is a two bit player, not a superstar. He is fringe at best. Who the hell cares.

must have been sport shorts. they spent 20 seconds on this.

reading cowleys article.

they are talking about harris right now

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) Do you think that kind of rep might keep certain talented players, who are not bad seeds, away from signing here also? not if we pay them- Anyone will come here if we pay them.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) You're right, but I think we can help it somewhat, or at least not make it worse. look half this board thought they were going to sign iguchi, I assume Willie did as well. We speculated it for a month.
-
QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) Badger, I agree with you. This article is really not that bad yet people are using it to bash Willie. Wanting a chance to compete with Iguchi isn't that bad, is it??? Or are people have such big hardons for Iguchi that they don't want to give him any competition? I think Iguchi is really cool, just like the next guy, but if Harris produces better during Spring Training, he'd better be starting Opening Day. i truly suspect that harris will be gone from spring training. Boers and bernstein will be tlaking about Willie in 3 minutes.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) I think it has more to do with how the TEAM is percieved by those outside of the organization. We don't want a reputation that we jerk players around, or say one thing in the press and then turn around and act completely different the next month. i am certain players take care of that. For instance the padres players said jimenez was the laziest player they ever saw. how long did we have this guy. A year. it takes care of itself. Dick allen was selfish, sosa is selfish, bonds is selfish. Players know who is playing and who is not.

I just caught the tail end but I think boers and bernstein are about to talk about the unhappy Willie Harris. THis should fuel the fire.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) This is just great. In the 2 years or so I have been posting on this board I have never seen a player become so hated over conjecture and hearsay as Willie Harris. There is not one of you who would appreciate being told: "Hey your going to be doing this job" And then for 2 years straight have it taken away from you for whatever reason your boss could come up with that day. The fact that Harris still is willing to play and to try and win a starting job should dismiss any of the fabrications that you hear, but then again the human mind is so simple. If you repeat simple phrases enough, people will start to believe them. I guess its easier for people to say: Harris has a bad ego. Than to say: Well if you look at Harris's stats, its puzzeling why Ozzie is so down on him. It took Ozzie 2 full seasons to have 20 sbs, yet Willie had 19 in his first. Willie also had a much better OBP than Ozzie, and a slightly lower BA. I guess the saying goes; Does as I say, not as I do. Because if we were this hard on every young player the White Sox have ever had, we wouldnt have any left. But then again, I guess all of you did your job perfect from day 1 and never needed to learn anything. SB Spare the violins, its a tough world, if he is as good as you say then he will prosper. But not for this team. Tough luck, move on. its over. I simply do not understand how everyone gets attached to players around here. Its like people care about these players. Willie Harris does not care about you. Its really not about players anymore its about the team and winning. When you don't win then changes need to be made despite your love for a player. It really doesn't make a difference if he got a fair shot or not. the sox are trying to field the best team. they think he doesn't fit, thats it. he will be gone whether fans like him or not. One day your loved the next day your not. See sammy sosa.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) Bag of balls would be enough for me. And tell him to take his oversized, stan mikita, short bus helmet with him.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) If the market now sucks for willie, the Sox should wait as long as possible into ST to deal him. If someone goes down on the sox or another 2b man around the league, Willie's value will increase. Then, he could be designated. But the Sox should try to wait it out until using the "nuclear option". Beck all i expect is a minor league player for this guy.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) Frankly if I were Willie I would have declined the interview request from Cowley. but he couldn't because "Willie don't do that" Willie speaks for himself"
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) Then say nothing, why say the opposite? Your not going to be convinced so its really not worth it, we are on the exact opposite ends.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) While I can certainly see why people are fed up with Willie, you have to admit the Sox and especially Ozzie send mixed signals sometimes. Willie's right, the team has gone back and forth about him. Just one week ago, Ozzie said that if Willie plays to his potential the team would have no problems. I don't know, that would sound to me like Willie not only has the starting job, but also will play a huge role in 2005. One week later, he's not starting and might be off the team. Remember how Valentin was his team 'leader'? Apparently he was so much of a leader that the team decided to get rid fo him. How long do you keep a team leader that bats 213. Till he's sixty? i mean really its time to move on. Willie has an attitude problem we will never know the full extent, but we get snipnets of a guy that is not proven and the sox don't want to let him prove himself out for there own reasons. The boy needs to go.

Well, he has closed the case on something I already knew. he is a dumb ass. Contradicting his own quotes, referring to himself in the third person, and being ignorant to the fact that this team probably told him several times how he needed to play. "They aren't going to pay him that type of money to sit," "Hopefully, they don't just hand him anything."- Contradict. "I'm a grown man," I can tell from this teenage statement "When am I going to get a chance to get at-bats after at-bats after at-bats, instead of sporadic at bats? That's all I'm asking." ding ding ding- You won't- maybe you shouldn't talk on your cell phone when signing autograghs. Its not about you Willie never was, its about the team. Its the team Willie. "This is a business," Harris said. "I really don't know what to think about this, but I don't have much of a choice. I just work here. I just have to deal with it." here is an idea, shut up, play hard, do your damn job and act humble. If someone came and took my job and bounced me down, I would wonder why and how I could improve, but I am sure he was told about 50 times. Now more than ever I want this rapper want to be off the team. Sayonara Willie

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) Is Texas really so stupid to believe Boras... again..? I hope they sign him.. and give him all the $$ he's asking for. Serves them right for being such idiots. You wonder how these businessmen make money. Sometimes they are so stupid. We put down JR all the time, but at least he is shrewed. somteimes cheap, but shrewed.

There are a couple of observations I see here: 1) maggs was totally the one that stalled the early negotiations with the Whitesox. His agents probably advised him to sign but he thought he was above everyone. 2) Boras is using his experience with Irod as a way to leverage the maggs contract. totally different cases. but he wants teams to remember how teams viewed Irod's back and he turned out great. 3) Does anyone think that maggs is worth 14 million even if he were healthy? You see I do not. Then again I would not pay anyone that kind of money knowing full well, that an injury like maggs can happen very quickly.
